Jason Brown

I am a little disappointed at how much doom and gloom is in this thread about three spots. We were not happy when people were saying it about Jason, let's not do it to Adam and Max and Grant for that matter. I actually don't think 6th and 7th is that out of the realm of possible for this team. If somehow Adam lands his quad, his momentum could very well land him with a bronze. Likewise a clean nailed it Max is really not that far off from bronze contention either. I actually think Max stands a really high chance of repeating Jason's non-pewter pewter placement. Ice is slippery as we all say.

Do you? I'm sure Grant will do well.

So many people, including Phil Hersh, were vehemently of the opinion that it was absolutely critical for Nathan to go to Worlds this year and that it would be a crime if they sent Jason.

I wonder if they all now think his career is over since it was soooooooo critical for him to go after all and he is not.

Sorry, did not make myself clear. I did not wish that Nathen had been bumped for Jason. I was against Nathen being bumped and actually think he was robbed at Nat with his placement. What I wish is that Jason's petition had been granted and he had been named 1st alternate so he would be the replacement here.

Probably not. I wish Nathan a full, fast and smooth recovery, but I find the whole situation really ironic. There was such a huge uproar at the thought that Jason might be selected. And now through a twist of fate, Nathan won't go anyway. I wonder what USFS thinks. If indeed they think at all.

At least Jason won't be vilified for depriving Nathan of a spot.

On a happier note, when TSL interviewed Kori at Nats she said Jason would be back on the ice this week.

You're right of course, and I'm sorry for having been so negative :)

It's just that I care about the spots so much because Worlds next year will be in my backyard, and I would be so sad if Jason didn't make that team. Or even just if the three spots were lost; so many of my faves are US skaters, so with 3 spots there'd be a good chance of at least one of those being one of my faves ;)

Thank you, Stitch. Agree 100%. :agree:

I imagine what USFS thinks is (1) that it hopes that both Jason and Nathan will have successful and complete recoveries ; (2) that it looks forward to having both Jason and Nathan back in great shape for next season ; and (3) that at this point, Adam, Max, and Grant are the best team for Worlds .

You were perfectly clear. I just find it ironic.

Yes, it certainly is a possibility that's what they're thinking.

Guys , but we want to play ? Put 4 more 2 Quad is a good thing in the circus , but to say art is little . If figure skating has become circus - it is so . Peró that poor Nathan is only 16 years old and already a lot of orthopedic problems ( cursed his coach ! ) - Have these problems to be so young not wish anything good !

First of all : I wish Jason good healing , patience , strength and can use this time for HER future ! It is possible that Team Us will lose a spot in the World Cup for the bad decision . It is the problem of the US team . But Jason will jump stronger as before !
Because he is a dancer noble!!!!

US perderá uno spot.
US has lost his head for a 16 -year-old who jumped to a lot of quad . It is the problem of the US . While poor 16 year old boy is the victim of his coach and the wrong spirit . US will lose a spot . It is the problem of the US . Our task is to wish good future to our Jason !

This is great news! He has a concrete goal before the TCC, and will hopefully show his new SP. He will be under less pressure. Its for a good cause. He will return to Boston, site of his 2014 triumph. I'm sure it will make Bostonians who missed him at Worlds very happy.

Yay!

I'm really sorry for Nathan, and I hope he heals well. But I have to echo the sentiment that there's a bit of irony, because now we have people crying out why Jason wasn't 1st alternate to help keep the 3rd spot, while beforehand everybody was just complaining about the sheer possibility of him being at worlds.

And... I'm sorry but I really can't see the US keeping their 3 spots (though I'll be rooting for that). And I don't mean that to be harsh to any of Max, Adam or Grant, who all deserve their world spots and are a lovely team to sent overall. But if the men skate anything like they did in Barcelona, we have an amazing men's field with so much talent, there's no shame in not managing a top 6 placement. It's not impossible, because a lot can happen on slippery ice, but it is a very, very tall order for any team IMO to keep or get the 3rd spot at worlds (probably except Japan, but who knows).

But so happy with the positive Jason news! Thanks for posting

Well we'll see. Dr Frog on FSU who seems to have contacts, says they determined he wouldn't be ready or prepared. Who knows.

I agree with you about some of the reactions, but feel like it's good to move beyond it.

I need some cheer, I'm starting to feel grumpy reading some of the threads.

Let's keep posting positive Jason things after all this doom and gloom. So curious about the new SP. Kori said a lot of deep edges. Ideas?

For us it is important is to see our Jason see us skate ... No matter the decision of the US - our Jason is a unique artist . We must wish him good future ... and does not care a damn about the stupidity of the US
