Jason Brown

I think there is great things too come from Jason still too come in the near future so hold on too your seats its coming people .and when it does watch out !

Thanks to FSU poster semogal for the reminder that CBS (not NBC) will broadcast TCC highlights on Sunday April 24 from 1-3 EST! So hopefully those who refuse to pay the extra IN subscription fee will get to see something of Jason!

Interesting that neither IN or USFS has responded to my email questioning the extra charge. They're probably just inundated, but until I hear back, we can hope they'll see reason and change their minds, eh?!

I was watching the men's free skate from 2013 Nationals on Sunday (part of my jet lag recovery) and this struck me, also. Jason was very youthful-looking then, still a baby physically, even though Josh already looked much more adult in build, and I also noticed that Jason was very slow and also that his jumps were very small. After I was done I went to Youtube to confirm my suspicions. His body is a considerably different shape now, and he jumps much bigger, and he skates much faster. So clearly our Jason is a bit of a late bloomer.

(Aside: Jason wasn't the only one who looked so different. Holy hang Max was such a baby! Much leaner, much more wild, much more raw. Anyone who denies the improvements Max has made should be forced to go and watch that WSS again...)

Two things.

1. Boy did I miss seeing Jason the second half of the season. The Piano was an exquisite program and I am SO disappointed we never got to see it develop. I'd be tempted to tell them to use it again next year; it's that good.

2. People who say "Max shouldn't be doing a balletic program because he has no talent for ballet" are missing the point. I think the point was to get Max to pay attention to all those things that aren't jumps: choreography, nuance, musicality, stroking, learning to hold back. And in that case, I think Max deserves all the credit in the world. #justsaying

:agree: on both!

I would love it if they kept The Piano; it's gorgeous and I would very likely get to see it live (because Jason will be one of the US men coming to Helsinki).

Couldn't agree more re: Max. I'm so sick and tired of these people going on and on about how he should do something that is "him", as though they know better than he himself!

So this is what I got this morning as a reply to my question of why TCC is listed as included:

You are very welcome, as the event that you have referenced was unfortunately never included with the season's pass for the current season and we will ensure that your opinion is considered when subscription decisions are made in future seasons.

Thank you again for your patience, and for taking the time to write!

I give up :laugh2:

They really don't know what they're doing. I still haven't gotten a response by the way.

I'm wondering if Jason may keep the FS for another year. He's only competed it at one GP (and of course 2 senior Bs). If I recall, he kept the Prince program for 2 years because it needed more time to "marinate." Among other things, the 3A was still iffy in year 1. I feel like he hasn't done everything he can yet with this FS, and it might be easier to master that quad without a totally new program. Oh well, I guess we'll see!

One thing I don't get: TCC is still listed as one of the events included in the season pass. Why didn't they just edit their website and remove it? It looks really stupid when they give a price and tell you to click a link to see what's included in it and the TCC is still there. Still included. Useless Icenotwork :disapp:

Clearly a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing... Not only are they being mean (trying to squeeze more money out of people for something that was supposed to be included in what they'd already paid for), but incompetently mean...

Katmari just pointed out on FSU that the official event website mentions that it will be streamed to subscribers but does not reference a surcharge.

ETA ha ha - the long-awaited Ice Network response has come saying only sorry for the confusion not included. I asked them to have their lawyer explain how that could be. Bet they don't respond!

Tavi, thank you for fighting the good fight on this. I would hate to read their briefs:laugh:

I wonder if they realize that it is making folks like me, who have finally joined the streaming world, decide it is better to listen to TAT blather nonstop than to sign up for a service that has no boundaries? I really don't think they care....

Anyway, I will either need to listen to TAT (if it's broadcast) or hope for a kind soul to post real soon after....

If I renew my IN subscription for next year, I'm going to take a screenshot of the page that tells you everything included in the subscription, just in case there's more "confusion".

I hope Jason keeps The Piano for next year. It was a beautiful program that could have been spellbinding if performed it clean at Nationals or Worlds. I wouldn't mind if they changed the music a bit to give it more build, though.

Its quite disturbing, actually, what they're doing. Because there is virtually no competition except for the odd live stream from Russia or Kazakhstan, perhaps they are emboldened to see how much they can get away with. That's the struggle I have - I really want to see Jason, so my inclination is to just pay the $10. But I don't want to encourage their behavior. It is just so wrong that they try to pretend there's "confusion" as opposed to an outright lie by them.

Anyway, not to get too OT, we've only seen tiny tiny clips of Jason practicing one thing or another, but he looks really strong and fit in every picture I've seen. I'm really hoping that he makes a smooth transition back to performing and competing, and that we see something beautiful soon!

ETA @Hyena, I've already taken screenshots of what my last renewal email linked to - which by the way is identical to what's currently there.

1. Absolutely. I really hope he keeps it. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did; it didn't get many outings and none were perfect, so we may see it twice, just as we saw Prince twice.

Keep a look-out next week for our coverage of #IceChips, including an interview with @jasonbskates!

Something from icenetwork to look forward to that doesn't cost extra money. ;)

Music nerd moment, I recognized the song in the background right away.

Namely it's a song on this Spotify playlist I play a lot (Brain Food; a mix of electronic music supposed to help you concentrate).

DJ Snake, "Middle"

I liked it!

And I cannot wait to see the Ice Chips performance! Wonder if that's their peace offering for the TCC fiasco.

ETA: per a later tweet, they will not have video of the event itself.
