Jason Brown

Sylvia from FSU seems to think Jason is not competing? Am I reading this schedule correctly?

https://unseenskaters.wordpress.com...or-open-june-22-25-live-free-video-streaming/

Also a poster on FSU offered thoughts on the ladies' SP, and evidently Mariah's Roxie was as darling as we thought it would be.

yeah... it sadly looks like Jason has disappeared on us with no word. He was not at the SP only event.

Mariah's Roxie is good and suits her well. She looks much more comfortable with it than last year's programs.

Thx Stitch; of course I could have figured out there was a Broadmoor thread, too, but that was beyond me when I was posting:laugh:

wow what happened too Jason does any one know? MIRAH program looked really good .she did fall though I forgot her score though. but she was great.

wait I don't get it is he training in Australia this week or something he hasent said anything on his twitter or web site I think his next apperenceis on july 2nd. is he training with Jeremy.

Calm down. It's a summer comp, withdrawals happen all the time, it's generally meaningless.

He withdrew.

ETA, so @karne, look at the comment from angelinaey to this Instagram. Do you think he was in your fair country this week?

https://instagram.com/p/BHBszFsBjmW/

I don't think so, I think it was a general comment, rather than something specific.

No, I think the Aussies (at least some of them) are in the area for the Broadmoor Open and have seen Jason in Monument. (One of his tweets in the last few days showa him with Ashley Shin (also competing at the Broadmoor) and Emily Oltmanns.

BTW, the Aussie commenter emphasized how much she and the others had enjoyed Jason's training, especially his spins and jumps. I'm guessing that Jason withdrew (properly, I'm sure) from the SP Only competition because there were only 2 other (much lower-ranked) skaters registered.

Hmm. Maybe he's not in Australia but if he's in CS I can't imagine why isn't he there cheering on Mariah and the rest of Team KoRo. Doesn't seem very Jason-like.

wow gee I don't know but he is probably in deep training mode right now but thanks for clearlng me up on the confushion on the topic. I guess he had his reasons for the withdraw.

It appears as though Jason may be training recently with ... Frank Carroll?!?

He was seen at a public free skate presumably at Toyota Sports Center with Gracie and Dice Murakami by this Twitter user:

Of course, Gracie and Dice are coached by Frank. I'm really happy that BFFs Gracie and Jason evidently get to train together. I am a little confused that this is so "under the radar", with no tweets of Gracie and Jason looking cute and adorable together, or Jason on the ice with Frank, but hey, life is confusing.

And since Sun Valley is promoting his appearance next weekend, presumably he will indeed skate there.:agree:

Everyone is in LA! Shibs are there too. Maybe that's why Jason was MIA at Broadmoor; even in the audience.

Yeah makes sense. With Vincent gone I can see the need for extra help from someone who's really good with jumps and I think Frank is known for that. Misha really improved and D10 is known for beautiful jumping (when he's not injured or having boot problems ). Kind of silly of them to think it could fly under the radar if there was no announcement though. One of the comments on his Instagram Olympic Day post referred to him training at TSC - since the commenter is clearly LA based not hard to guess she meant Toyota Sports Center. Interestingly, another comment on that post was someone asking why he wasn't at Broadmoor and saying how disappointed she was - so maybe they'll get the message and be a bit more forthcoming next time.

Oh my, we certainly are bored...

I am quite certain the skate at Toyota was nothing more than Jason warming himself up for Sun Valley. Skaters tend to skate, even on holidays sometimes. I skated at Toyota myself. It's a very nice facility. It could well be that Jason was in California early, and opted to get some extra ice time in. Doesn't mean he was training with Frank Carroll; IMO that's a pretty out-there leap to make.

Sorry Karne but I must respectfully disagree with you on this one. He announced that he was competing at Broadmoor and withdrew without mentioning it. Comments mentioned him training there not skating. He doesn't skate in Sun Valley until 7/2 - 10 days at least before his scheduled event at Broadmoor. Most important, Los Angeles is not on the way to Sun Valley - in fact it's completely the opposite direction, and it's an 800+ milectrip from LA to Sun Valley. Given that Jason just returned from a 2 week trip where he didn't skate at all, and given the competition he's facing next year in the run up to Olys, I just can't see him taking off another week to 10 days simply to skate at TSC with Gracie.

I don't see why Jason spending a few days training with Frank would be such a "leap". After all, Kori has been very open about looking for guidance and assistance from other coaches/experts if she feels that it's best for the skater.

ETA I also just remembered Frank's role as a sort of general advisor to all USFSA int'l pool skaters.

Kori, Rohene and most of 7K were at Broadmoor so Jason was unable to train as usual at 7K. I don't see it as a leap for Jason to train elsewhere for a few days (especially a place where a close friend also trains and where he can receive guidance from an Olympic caliber coach).

yes I agree. but its still a bit confusing following jasons wareabouts or any skaters for that matter. and its probably hard for every coach too oversee every skater that they have every minute of the time espesiuly during a computition that lasts more that one day. Jason posts on his twitter page one or two daysaweek. and I don't think he stays in one place all the time. he probably traviles and stays with friends too. there are other places he can find ice time. and time too practice. and he does drive too. and I don't think he stays at the otc all the time .ats probably very confining. and some how iget the filling Jason likes too have as much freedon and space as posiable. after all he is 21 years old.

Yes @TMC and @katmari, one of the first things I thought was about Frank's mentor role; the second that he consults a lot - see, eg, Jin Boyang and the rest of Team China.

Why it makes sense to me for Jason is that save for the 3As, his programs already looked quite good at TCC. To move forward, he needs to solidify the 3A in the second half and add a quad or quads. If he's not ready to do that, running the programs at Broadmoor isn't really a great use of limited training time. Especially if he's at SA this year with the same FS, he can't afford to do what he did last year and go out and < and / or fall on those jumps - he's got to hit the ground running or at least show some major progress. Or at least, that's what I'd be thinking if it were me.
