Jason Brown

Huh. The protocol sheet has changed re PCS; It's now 'composition' and Interpretation of the music'.

Also, some of his spin GOEs are quite low.

Also, one of the judges is NOT a fan

He was one judge away from a perfect toe for his spin and his step sequence... New best step sequence for him

It is? Yayyyyy well done Jason!!!

Okay I just watched the whole SP now (I was too nervous for more than bits and pieces before) and I looooove it! That StSq - gorgeous! The headless spin! Just gorgeous!

I believe that with the end of anom judging (which I believe goes into effect this season), That would be Judge 4, Ms. Ulla Faig of Germany.

On the other extreme is Judge 6 (Mr. Todd BROMLEY of 'merica) , which confirms what we probably guessed, home judges give higher scores

Also interesting to see that the judges didn't do a across the board ranking. Shoma was higher overall, but Jason beat him in the performance and interpretation categories.

Time mark in case you want to watch it again. I probably will watch it again even though I dislike the song. Maybe I'll mute it.

I could not watch again - it says blocked in US by SME.

FWIW, Mrs. P's link still works for me in the U.S.

(I clicked after seeing Tavi's post.)

Anyway, good job, Jason :).

BTW, the Sam Smith SP is not yet reflected on Jason's website or his IN bio, both of which still have “Appassionata” listed for 2016-17.
His ISU bio has not been updated for 2016-17.

Time Schedule is up for FS. The three US men close the competition: group 3 comprises Stephane Walker, Shoma, Jason, Grant, and Max, in that order. Jason skates at about 13:59 local time:

http://www.fisg.it/upload/result/4144/senior/CSITA2016_SeniorMen_FS_TimeSchedule.pdf

ETA TMC hold onto that just in case we need it later!

ETA wow Judge 4 really, really disliked Jason. She gave him total PCS of 37.5, 3.7 points lower than his actual 41.2. On the other hand, she really, really liked Max, giving him PCS of 38.5 - 2.1 points higher than his actual 36.4 and a full point higher than she scored Jason.

Will do! I generally try to download everything as soon as it appears, because it might get taken down next minute

ETA: Awwww I just checked the download and the file is corrupted and can't be played - and now the video is muted. DARN 7
I'm so sorry :(
I used my usual downloading app, but somehow it didn't work out

As noted earlier we know who Judge 4 is now that anonymous judging has ended:

For academic exercise:
Judge No.1 Ms. Susanne SJÖQUIST SWE
Judge No.2 Ms. Elizabeth LITTLER M.B.E. GBR
Judge No.3 Ms. Isabelle DEGOUTTE FRA
Judge No.4 Ms. Ulla FAIG GER
Judge No.5 Mr. Franco BENINI ITA
Judge No.6 Mr. Todd BROMLEY USA
Judge No.7 Ms. Alice WALDER SUI

1 41.00
2 40.50
3 41.25
4 37.5
5 42.75
6 43.25
7 40.75

So Ms. Faig was the lowest by a mile (37.5) and not surprisingly, Mr. Todd Bromley, the US judge had the highest (43.25), but the Italian judge, Franco Benini also liked him giving him the second highest PCS score (42.75). The median score (41.25) is from judge 3, Isabelle Degoutte for France.

Try downloading the one I linked to in post 6489 above. Not yet muted.

Meanwhile, Judge #1 gave Max only 32.50 total PCS, which is 3.9 points lower than his actual 36.40.

Happening to all the best of 'em ;).

Ooh fun! Maybe we should start a thread about this. Here are the scores for Shoma compared to Jason:

Shoma Jason Country
1. 39.75. 41.00. SE
2. 43.25. 40.50. GB
3. 41.50. 41.25. FR
4. 42.00. 37.50. DE
5. 42.75. 42.75. IT
6. 43.25. 43.25. US
7. 40.00. 40.75. CH

So in both cases, the French judge was spot on the average. The British and German judges greatly preferred Shoma to Jason. The Swedish and Swiss judges slightly preferred Jason but weren't very enthusiastic towards either. In contrast, the US and Italian judges liked both of them a lot and scored them identically.

At a glance it looks like Max's highest scores came from the German, Italian and US judges.

There is such a... strength and purposefulness to this program. I really can't quite put my finger on what I find so fascinating about it - but I just adore it.

I really like it too.

I think ... the program seems purposeful because he is purposeful. His costume is stripped down to basics (compare: bright green shirt, black velvet pants and sparkles for River Dance). He's thinking 18 months down the road to the Olympics. I only hope he starts landing fully rotated quads in competition soon, because if not, I fear he'll be bypassed and I don't want that to happen!
