Jason Brown

Though different disciplines, I think Jason and Akiko are really similar in some ways, which is probably why I'm drawn to both. I also think they both have defied the limits that fans tend to set for them. Akiko's ability to rise from her struggles with an eating disorder that stalled her career for a few seasons has been nothing to but inspring.

I watched O again, still a fab program. I wonder what that would have scored in today's super inflated PCS world---126, which is what she got was considered a high-caliber score back then.

Akiko always had the best step sequences.

I totally agree - I see them both as exceptional performers, with an ability to connect with any audience in very close, unique way. Mostly, I see their personalities and charisma shining through programs performed - they were/are the main focus point, their interpretation, movement, emotions, not the programs themselves. Jason's FS to 'Riverdance' at 2014 US Nationals and Akiko's 'O' FS from 2012 Japanese Nationals and 2013 WTT are one of my favourite performances ever and can bring me smile and simple joy of figure skating in a sad day, I can just sit and see the magic: no counting elements, tech scores or levels.

Agreed. :)

It just occurred to me that Pasquale Camerlengo might be a good fit for Jason for choreography. His programs for Akiko (including O. :) ) and Daisuke are some of my all-time favorites. And I didn't realize he did Patrick's SP this season.

this is a great idea...I feel that Pasqualeis that kind of choreographer who balances brilliantly skater's personality and 'natural' abilities (e.g. being an entertainer, lyricist etc.) with 'competitiveness' of choreography created (as for its technical content, placement of elements). Also, his choreographies, especially for singles were very well constructed musically - Daisuke's 'Blues for Klook' FS comes into my mind immediately, it was just a perfect match and blend of skater's natural musicality and interpretation skills with choreography which presented that.

As Jason has incredible musicality in him too, adding his flexibility, unique movement and ability to adapt various styles successfully, I think he's a dream skater to work with for such choreographer as Pasquale.I'd also want to see what his program/s would look like from Kenji Miyamoto's hand...

Kenji Miyamoto! That is an awesome idea. Would give Jason an excuse to go to Japan too. :D

Actually an Akiko program would be awesome too...

Beautiful! I get excited just looking at it! Have my tickets already and just bought my plane ticket! :cheer:

Awww that was nice!

The fact that Jason retweeted this makes me happy. There are a lot of great moments / athletes in the montage, but the moment where he takes his bow after the FS is special. So glad he's looking ahead optimistically again!

Nice flashback video posted by Jason..also on the "looking forward" side of things:

This is from one of Jason's summer trips to Lake Arrowhead. You can see Anthony Liu at the end...He coached Tatsuki Machida and several other skaters.

Speaking of which, is that Kori sitting with him in this 2001 Skate Canada video?! https://youtu.be/P7VsBVeTprw

Glad to see him post this! And yes, I think that is Kori.

Looked like he just kind of walked off leaving Kori sitting alone in the K&C... did he leave in a huff? If so, he is no gentleman...:noshake:

I remember an interview with Kori prior to Sochi where she talked about she was coaching an Australian skater who she thought was going to the Olympics, and didn't, (or at least not with her) and how disappointing that was. Could that have been Anthony Liu? Too tired to look up the article or skater;)

Yes, that was Anthony Liu. She discussed him in her TSL interview, though I can't remember if it was part 1 or 2. She called him one of the best jump technicians in the world and discussed having Jason train with him in the summers at Lake Arrowhead, work with him on the 3A, etc.

I doubt we'll hear anything until it's nearly Nationals time. This tends to be a quiet month. He's probably gone home to celebrate Hannukah with his family (or they've come to him) and will be working hard.
