My guess would be jumps, since I doubt very much that Jason would change from the Piano (or Sam Smith for that matter) for Worlds.

And unfortunately for us, we will be working on "radio silence" again since Frank isn't taking the vids/photos that 7k would. For info, I sure hope some fangirls wander into the Desert Ice Rink like they did over the summer at TSC.

No, I did not see that. Great photos, but is it OK to say I'm kind of bummed? I had hoped he was training with Frank for a while....

How much could he possibly need? The end of 4CC was two weeks ago. IF he flew straight to LAX afterwards, he probably got a good 10 days in. He seems to be a fast learner, Frank probably had sufficient time to evaluate his skating, make adjustments and give feedback.

And who knows maybe they'll be another trip before Worlds -- there's still more than three weeks until worlds.

ah time flies ... but then again I remember Frank with Linda Fratianne. As far as I'm concerned, too much Frank is never enough:laugh2:

I bet spinning is really good for his endurance - it'll help him make it through those last few jumps -
#nomorehandsdownontheloop!

Jason mentioned that cycling was a key part of his recovery last season with his back injury. He would think about the Team Challenge Cup event every time he was wanting to let up on things.

Aha - one of those tidbits that didn't make it into the article! Or did it? Either way, that's a great picture, Jason pushing himself to recover and getting motivation from TCC.

I'm happy he spent some time with Frank and am really looking forward to seeing the result. I think Jason said that Frank focused on getting little things right and wouldn't cut him slack if he was having an off day. That approach really paid off at Skate America, where almost every one of his movements was clear and beautiful, and everything was done fully, and finished without rushing. It's such a pleasure to watch that kind of skating, and I admit to being greedy for more! :)

I had to go back and look...that was a while ago. Alas, I mentioned the cycling was part of his training, but not that particular story.

well that's great I like cycling too I cant wait too see Jason perform again at worlds if he stays in tip top shape he should do pretty well. and I'm pretty sure Nathen will metal. it would be great if Jason could metal too.:yahoo::hap10:

Jason really just says everything for the athlete's playbook so well: I'm going to improve, disappointed but want to move forward, excited for the next phase, etc....

He should give lessons on how to interview:biggrin:

His positivity is really infectious. I want to hang around with him for awhile! :luv17:

hi:ghug:, exactly - he's just so positive and open, with infectious smile and attitude towards sport and life in general. As a fairly pessimistic, full of doubts person I am, I would love to hang out around him more to maybe get some of that light, joy and positivity. And my dream squad to hang out and hit the dancefloor is Jason, Misha Ge, Julian Yee and Elladj Balde :laugh:

yes Jason is a positive person , and that's aplus too have in compective sports and in live too. good luck jasonat worlds.:yahoo:

I beg to differ -- you seem like a very positive person! I think you could have a pretty wild time with that dream squad! Let us know when it's going to happen.

Forget the dance floor, we need a rink.:agree:

Add Deniss V. and Nic Nadeau.

I will have died and gone to skating heaven. :dbana::dbana::dbana:

yass, I totally forgot about Nicolas and Deniss :drama:, and with Deniss - Stephane 'Forever Young' Lambiel would come too!!!

I just love those amazing skaters who may be not (yet) 'big quads hitters', but their skating just resonates within me so loudly and deeply, looking as a whole. Regarding Jason, it's pretty sad to witness this whole row over him vs Vincent, making those differences, analyzing scores and wanting Jason to appear less skilled or successful on purpose. I wish more people would embrace the diversity and depth of current US Men's field instead of bashing one skater for another's one sake, it won't help anyone get spots or higher scores. I would love to see more of broader approach towards all these talented skaters, seeing them not only by their jump abilities...but it's on those people who don't want to do it, they probably are not aware how much they're missing, spending their energy and focus on issues we don't have influence on.

lately, thinking about this whole depreciating of skaters, Jason included, but also Maia and Alex, I came to a thought that it is just too much of projecting personal sentiments towards skaters and having some stagnated picture of some skaters memorized in mind, not being able to look beyond it. With Jason, people seems to have one ideal measure of a perfect, successful and skilled male skater which is having whole array of quads at disposal and multiple titles. It is for me a very narrow image projecting, one-dimentional prism and pattern made for all skaters competing which is very harmful, disappointing and ignorant. With Maia and Alex I think that a lot of people put them in one place, as one image for a long time, elevating other teams in process, underestimating Shibutanis more and more. And with their current and last season, a total re-branding of some sorts wth finally capitalizing on full force on their biggest strenghts, people are getting angtsy over them scoring like that, getting placements like they do, but honestly - it's their fault of ignorance and inability to see a strong skill and appreciate it with all honesty.

I think Jason's comparison with Maia and Alex is very apt!

NNF, I don't know if you remember, but Alex actually suffered some injuries shortly after they won bronze at 2011 Worlds. I think combined with Maia's growth spurt -- I think people forget, OFTEN, that Maia was just 16 when they won that medal -- not to mention their journey to find their style/programs, really threw a wrench in their plans. It was actually because of their hard work and determination that got them through those dark years. They never gave up on themselves and try to do the best they could. I think you're right the people subject the circa 2012-2014 years when they express surprise at their success.

I think Jason's going through his version of what the Shibs went through in those years right now. The chorus is similar, he'll never win a medal, the sport has passed him, etc. etc. But like the Shibs, he's a hard worker and a gritty competitor. Honestly, if he does better than even I expect at Worlds and next season, I actually won't be that surprised.
