Jason Brown

I thought that it would simply be Nathan and Jason? What with that rule and all about any skater who placed within the first ten at Worlds not being able to just refuse, and perhaps suffering sanctions.

Nathan may decide after the boot debacle at Worlds not to risk WTT, and I wouldn't blame him. So then, if Jason accepts, the team would be Jason and the next highest-ranked fit US man. Or, a repeat of 2015. Probably complete with the reaction.

I love these photos that show that in spite of the pressure of competition, Jason still knows how to enjoy life. And how wonderful that he always takes time to go to Ronald McDonald House. Much respect!

Y'all, I found a fancam of the FS!!!

This (Italian? Spanish?) guy's commentary cracks me up: Ooh, aah, Jason Brown, wow, ooh, maravilloso :laugh2:

I want to send him a muffin basket!

Donating the gifts to children is always such a lovely idea. I always wonder why it is not done more routinely, but of course anything that takes extra effort ... is hard. That is why I have extra admiration for skaters like Jason and the Shibs, who DO make that extra effort to do gestures of kindness that go above and beyond.

I think others do donate them... they just don't go there themselves and make an appearance.

Jason hit all three of his triple axels for positive GOE at Worlds! In fact every skill, other than the quad, earned positive GOE in both programs, even the popped loop. No URs, no edge calls, and all level 4s combined with gorgeous skating. And I thought his air position in jumps was significantly tighter and better than it has been.

I think a properly landed quad may come fairly soon for him!

Here's the British Eurosport coverage of his free skate:

He has come a long way since NHK gala:
BTW, the music to this is not the same as at 4Cs gala, although the costume is the same?

His world's gala is on this page (scroll down):

Thank you for these, Doris!

Sirkka Kaipio, the Finnish coach who commentated for Finnish Eurosport, also said that the quad will "absolutely" come. :) She was full of praise for him, too, using words like "unbelievable", "incredible", "unique" and "stunning"!

Oh my gosh, Enrique CoMa is back with his Spanish commentary. I love him and love his enthusiasm! During the GPF, while he was doing one of his "commentaries" on one of his favorite programs he said "I'm so nervous I can't hold the camera steady". And he usually has to yell ole and bravo numerous times. He obviously gets so much enjoyment out of figure skating.

ETA -- Have to listen again. I think at the end he said "Jason, you are a rrrrrock star!"

It sounded to me like he got choked up and was possibly holding back tears. I even heard some sniffling at the end. However, that could have just been me projecting my feelings onto him...it was so beautiful. Watching and listening to the audience from the fancam version was so touching. You could hear all of the oohs and ahs that weren't picked up on the broadcast. We also weren't subjected to that awful birds-eye view from the rafters as if we're watching a gosh darn football game. Figure skating means we should be able to see the figures!

Jason at Ronald McDonald house again. Explains the extra day a bit.

More from the Ronald McDonald house in Finland:

I love this goofy photo with matching expressions on Jason's face and his father's:

This one has both parents, Jason, and some kids:

Also wanted to say that even before Jason started his admirable Ronald McDonald visits, his family and he have had a habit of spending an extra day on international trips. IIRC, Jason has credited in particular his (wise) mother for making sure that he has time to relax after the competition is over and to enjoy some local experiences unrelated to skating. Kori often joins them, as she did in Finland.

Off topic:
I could not readily find an old article with quotes from Jason about his mother's wisdom in this matter, but in the course of looking around, I re-visited some of Jason's old blogs.
Excerpt from his 2012 JGP France blogging:
I woke up at 4:00 a.m., just in time to see my roommate, Quinn [Carpenter], leave for practice! I've learned that having a roommate on an opposite schedule means lots of communication, mutual respect for each other's sleep needs and the ability to go with the flow. When I have trouble sleeping, I end up trying to tire myself out by researching inspirational quotes, going on icenetwork.com, checking Facebook or "face timing" with one of my best friends, Sara, from home.

The thought of seventeen-year-old Jason researching inspirational quotes at unconventional hours is both funny  and sweet :ghug: all at once.

Anyway, congratulations to Jason for achieving his individual successes in Helsinki and for earning three spots with Nathan.
And applause for his continuing work with Ronald McDonald.

Jason was absolutely adored in Helsinki. Basically every move he made in the free was applauded. And the gala crowd went nuts for him. It's hilarious to me that people try so hard to say he's illegitimate at these big events. To be right below the final group of quadsters, consistently, is a testament to how clutch and special he is.

Thanks for yet another report; I do love how, particularly with fancams, you can hear the audience applauding every times he lifts his leg. They *want* to applaud.

If you spend all your time looking at planned content and BV, you are not looking at the ice. And if you are not looking at the ice, you severely underestimate what Jason brings to a competition.

Jason fans, however, look at the ice. Which is why we are

Thanks so much for sharing - even on video, you can hear the crowd respond with a roar to almost everything he does. It's pretty extraordinary, and it must have been to be part of it! It's really so wonderful that after a season interrupted by injury, he fought his way back and was rewarded with such a positive experience at the end!

Lets keep our fingers crossed that we see those beautiful programs one last time this season at WTT! 🤗 ......Although I know el henry is champing at the bit for a high energy program (and it sounds like there will be at least one next season)! 😉
