Jason Brown

Now that it's being discussed, Alexa and Chris had an exhibition to a song called Rise, sort of new soul diva with inspirational lyrics? Not bad, could have fit right in during the 70s (my definition of "not bad")

Of course, the last thing Jason needs is an exhibition to inspirational lyrics, that would be overkill;)

You've seen Mariah Bell's exhibition to that song right? (I assume you did since you probably saw the SA exhibition )

Not to mention that aside from their other merits, Andra Day and Rise Up also have an Olympic connection. She and her song were the basis of a powerful USOC "Road to Rio" video:

I cried all over again :sad4: as I re-watched it just now.

Not saying that the Team USA video would be the only reason why Jason has the song on his playlist.
But would not surprise me if he had been aware of the video at the time and had found it inspiring.

Spotify has lots of cool playlists-- and it's a good way to preview a lot of albums before you buy them. I use it everyday pretty much --

LOL, before USFS shared Jason's playlist, I always thought I was the only person on the planet without a Spotify account :hopelessness:.
Seemed to me as if most people were like Mrs. P and used it on a daily basis.

Glad to learn from this thread that I was not alone  :ghug:.

Haha, this is great! I'm pretty fond of Sesame Street myself (looking at my coffee mug ;) ). ....

Oh, yes, I too like Sesame Street :luv17:. Hope my previous post did not sound otherwise.

And I am hopeful that we eventually will see photos and/or video of Jason meeting Elmo and/or Cookie Monster, given that the whole reason for the NBC promo shoot is to create content to be used btwn now and the 2018 Games . (And given that by all accounts, the format is for every athlete to take a turn at every set-up -- cuddling the live animals; posing on the ski lift; etc.)

Speculating a bit about Hamilton (if Jason in fact will skate to music from the musical), I kind of like this piece which kind of sums up what it's all about.....

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story?

But so many songs...!

Thanks for this! I'll be checking it out.

Though I'm intrigued by the possibility of Hamilton, I honestly have difficulty visualizing skating to the music. Is it musical enough to appeal to non-English-speaking fans and the judges? I hope it happens because I'd love to see what they come up with. It will be a challenge, but I think Rohene and Jason are up to it, and I think it has the possibility of being epic.

ROSA74: I agree about most "Hamilton" songs which seem to be dialogue driven so might be hard to skate to.. I liked this song in particular because it had some lyric/musical passages though the subject is American-centered, patriotic - very Jason, to be sure, but would be difficult, I think, to sell to an international audience, though skaters have done programs specific to their country/culture that seem to work. I am with you in trusting Rohene and Jason to make something wonderful.

Gosh, I was kinda hoping he'd have posted at least one skating related clip on his YouTube channel by now. I mean, travel videos and playlists are nice and all, and yeah, the kitten picture is adorable, but...I wanna hear about his new programs!

Ha - I guess I need to chill / remind myself that it's barely mid-May. 🙃

I adore that kitten, but yes, let's get back to work already!:agree:

Rohene has been with Deanna and Nate, at least he was a few days ago, doing choreo for their SP. Maybe Colorado is warm enough now that he can leave Florida? ;)

Agreed it is adorable - and as compared to the puppy photo at the media shoot, Jason thankfully appears to have improved his pet handling skills at least marginally! But curious minds want to know - how did this tiny kitten appear in what appears to be some kind of bar - or is it? And is this the US or the Philippines?

Goodness, I am bored. 😂

I vote Philippines. :)

I vote Philippines. :)

I agree! Aside from the kitten, the bags underneath and to the right of his hands say Dilmah. A little research shows that it's a brand of tea from Sri Lanka only available online in the US, but distributed retail in the Philippines.

Which makes me wonder if his head is still in the Philippines rather than on training, especially given that he apparently deleted and re-uploaded his off season adventure video. 😉

Good catch about the Phillipines, guys, I was wondering where that tiny attic was....

OK, now it looks like Jason has competition, so he needs to get back in the rink. Mark Sadusky, who as far as I can tell from Google competed most recently as pairs novice skater (? but I really can't tell), will skate to "Wait for It" from Hamilton:

Looks like a singles program, but he trains with the pairs coach Jim Petersen, who took the photo. Where Rohene was last week. Did Rohene give away "Wait for It"?:devil:

Just kidding of course (hey let's start a rumor:biggrin:) but at least it's a possible costume.

Mark has said that his Hamilton choreo is by Jim Peterson, so no worries that Rohene "gave away" anything.

Yes, Mark formerly skated pairs, although his new Hamilton program is for him as a junior man.
IIRC, his pairs partner and he were not able to compete at 2017 Nats b/c one of them was injured.

I really appreciated the tone of Jason's introductory video :) on his YT channel.

As entertaining as Jason can be when he is bouncing off the walls with energy, I enjoy his "quieter" side as well.
Sorta reminds me of his well-done lesson for Tarah Kayne's channel. Jason was his always-engaging self, but he took it seriously that the main point of the video was not to entertain, but to be informative about how he manages his hair.
(BTW, perhaps an idea some day for Jason's own channel now would be to give a follow-up with his techniques for his man-bun , which I think suits him very well.)

Look forward to seeing the mix of content from Jason . His versatility surely will be an asset.

[Although I would not want Jason to over-extend himself, esp. in an Olympic season, I do wonder whether his YT channel will mean a hiatus from his stints of blogging for IN. He is a good communicator with the written word as well as on camera.
But of course, Jason should do whatever is most gratifying to him. I certainly would not want him to feel pressure to take on too much.]
