Jason Brown

A Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Oh great skating gods,
thank you for hearing the prayers and supplications of your people;
please give your servant Jason those lovely navy blue pants, but with a lower waist;
and cast the blue velour pants into the outer darkness;
this we pray in the name of Toller the Spin Bearer and all the skating saints,

Amen

Jason’s on his way to Japan!

Let’s add to the blue pants prayer that he has a great trip, stays healthy, and has two great skates!

In keeping with Jason's fashion trend over the last couple of years, I would love plain black pants in a beautiful matte material and a gorgeous silk plain shirt in very dark blue. He wore a white silk shirt and black pants for Writing on the Wall, very elegant black silk shirt and black pants for The Piano, so a dark blue silk shirt for his FS this season would build on this elegant theme.

Good Luck in Japan Jason !!!!!!!! :yahoo:. :cheer:. :dance3:

Totally OT, but I just secured Hamilton tickets on the National Tour in Seattle. It took 50 minutes of trying different dates and prospects looked bleak and then Ticketmaster magically suggested a date and two tickets! OMG.

Anyway, I just watched Jason's SP to celebrate. :)

P.S. Jason mentioned in the video that the designer for his SP was Elena Pollack: http://www.ladudesign.com/pages/about-ladu-custom-designs.html

She also designed his SP costume from last year (and his Riverdance FS)

Also semi-OT, but Leslie Odom Jr. will be in concert five miles from my house on Saturday night, at the concert venue for Local Large Private University.

He will evidently sing mostly new stuff, but the article implied "Room Where it Happens" will be on the bill. Sadly, I will not be in the room. ;)

I also rewatched the SC SP in Leslie's honor.:)

Geez I forgot about Jason missing out on GPF by 0.16 because of Yuzu's finish at NHK Trophy (or Jeremy Abbott's too, arguably) in 2014. NHK Trophy is seriously directly/indirectly a voodoo event.

There does seem to be some crazy events that happen around Jason's second event. Rostelecom Cup with Shep's death, his injuries coming before/during NHK Trophy. Jason just needs to kill it like he's in Japan for WTT. :laugh:

Yeah, NHK has definitely had an impact on his career, even when he wasn’t competing there.

He seems to love Japan and the Japanese people so much that I really hope he’s able to give two great performances there this year, whether or not they land him on the podium or help him qualify for the GPF. Of course I hope he does podium and that he makes the GPF. And selfishly I hope he has two clean skates - with or without quad - so I can rewatch them again without averting my eyes at some point! But what I really hope is that after what must have been a super tough competition for him last year, he puts out two programs he’s really proud of. :)

don't jinks this people come Jason I'm rolling the dice and my chips are on the table all good vibes and prayers go Jason go usa go Jason! nothing can stop you now1:hap10:

Good luck Jason! Wishing him all the best for NHK. Would love to see him at GPF!

According to one of Jason’s JP fan clubs, he looked good in the unofficial practice yesterday:

Since Bing translate is kinda wonky, here’s the translation by google translate:

[NHK Cup]
The first male official practice has begun. Jason participated in informal practice yesterday and seems to be in good shape. My favorite rice ball and Tunamayo seem to have eaten four on the first day (one at Narita) 😊 I hope you will have a fulfilling practice today! Thank you for your support.

ETA Mrs P - that clip of baby Jason is amazing! Did any one catch that he did some kind of a Rippon jump - well before the Russian ladies and possibly before Adam did (not sure when Adam started doing them).

Baby Jason! :)

Apparently Michelle Kwan is responsible for Jason's ability to max out COP, LOL. All roads lead to Kwan. :laugh:

Thanks for this link! Don't think I'd ever seen any clips from this program before. From the article:

In 2007, Jason Brown won the U.S. Junior National title on the juvenile level with a score of 71.26 and no one has beaten that number on the juvenile level since.

This is pretty cool, it's been 10 years!

RE: Rippon jump

This post references a TSL interview: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?60826-Why-do-they-call-it-a-quot-Rippon-Lutz-quot

Apparently he came up with the variation while training with Brian Orser, which would have been sometime between 2008 and 2010. He was doing it full blown by 2011, so I'd imagine it came along in 2008 or 2009. But the tread points that Norbert Schramm of West Germany did that arm variation back in 1984.

That arm variation is not uncommon at the lower levels. When I was watching local competitions and regionals back in the late 90s, lots of little kids (at juvenile up through junior) were doing that with their double jumps.

I love both of Jason's programs. He is the total package for me, even without the quad. Love his spins, spirals and footwork! Always consistent speed! I have stated before quads are ruining men's skating! I have seen too many stumbles and falls on them this season already. I strongly believe Jason will make it to the Olympics!

You all ready to be in the room where it happens tonight?!?! :yay: :yay:

Or super early tomorrow, in my case. The men are at 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. I been going to bed at 9, so I should be able to get a few hours in and not be a complete zombie.

Yeah, definitely. I think Adam got the cred for it because honestly there weren't a lot of folks doing it at the elite levels. It was fun to see Jason's version.

Speaking of which, while I hope he'll do the quad in the SP eventually, it's nice to see him do the tano lutz again. It works really nice with the music.
