Jason Brown

I don’t know who Dave knows! But I will say that his info - as opposed to innuendo - is frequently good.

As to what was planned, I can’t say - I’m really only repeating what was said.

The stay in Cali after Glacier was pre-planned (for several 7K skaters) and not intended to be an opportunity to work with Frank (although Jason may or may not have squeezed a lesson in? I'm not sure). There was no ice in Monument that week due to a hockey tournament so many people stayed and skated/did touristy stuff in Cali.

Thanks for the info, Polenka.

I love Jason’s skating and was just worried about what happened at NHK.

And here it is:

The interview was done during the Skate Canada gala, hence why the photo with Jason in his Dear Evan Hanson ex outfit.

It's odd to hear an interview with Jason without any mention of the quad. But I think PJ's style is more about getting to know the people and personalities in skating.

The interesting things was hearing his take on the drawbacks of social media and his interest in communications theory. Also, this is a bit sad because he stated one of his goals was to improve at NHK and he didn't quite do that. :( But it was interesting to hear that there were "5 bobbles" he wanted to improve on and I figured out what they were. Four of them are jumps: the 3A in the short and the quad, 3A and the popped 1LO in the long. The last is the level 3 camel spin in the short.'

ETA: The bobbles of NHK: All his 3As basically, plus the 3Z step-out and the weird spin mistake in the FS and the popped -3T and level 3 spin in the SP. Man he really racked up the bobbles. But he got the camel spin level and that drat 3Lo (with an improv -1L-3S at that!)

The 3A errors are SO crazy, he's messed up on 5 out of 6 attempts on the GP and then 6 out of 9 overall. The encouraging part I guess is that he's rotating most of them. I don't know if it's a product of the choreography or what. Because last season, he was actually pretty consistent outside of his injury skates (and mainly just the short).

@jasonbskates signs w @SlapItOnUS for adhesive decal line. Available soon worldwide at http://www.slapiton.us. Will bring all of Jason's fun to a great product.

So soon there will be a Jason line of decals. I wonder what poses will be chosen -- THE spin, THE spiral and THE split jump seem obvious decisions. :cool2:

How weird. It looks like they use existing images for decals as part of brand campaigns. Since he says it will bring Jason’s “fun” to the product, I wonder if they will use some of the goofy red white and blue wig pictures that were taken last spring where he’s jumping, doing high kicks, making faces, etc.?

On another note, thanks Mrs P for posting that great interview with PJ Kwong- she asked some really interesting questions and got some interesting responses. Thanks also for posting that analysis in the US men’s thread - I want to respond but haven’t had time to think.

On yet another note, has this NBC profile of Jason been posted yet? The linked article “Who is Jason Brown” (scroll down for links) is pretty long - I think it must have been from an interview at that media thing last spring. There is also a linked, just-published Q&A, and there are also some great pictures (scroll down and click on the photo galleries). Odd note: it lists his height as 5’6”! Since Adam and Max are listed as 5’8” I think it’s a mistake - no way he’s shorter than Max, and I’m pretty sure he and Adam are the same height.

ISU bio does say 170 cm, which would be around 5-6". But I agree that's like way off.

Though in this photo, it looks like Adam is like a hair taller, though Jason's head is to the side, so it's kind of hard to say: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bb2IBJkFjbZ/?taken-by=usfigureskating

Vincent Zhou's bio says that he's 170 cm as well, here's a photo for comparison: https://www.instagram.com/p/BXgkYr9FR8G/?taken-by=usfigureskating

I always thought he was 5'7" or 5'8" myself.

I saw the Q&A after icecoverage referenced it in Josh's fan fest. There are some really interesting answers.

It’s so hard to find the Fan Fest these days:biggrin: (just joking, I know it’s cleaner and probably easier to administer).

Did Jason have some sort of interview, or is he having an interview, on Japanese television? I keep seeing tweets from the Japan fan club that translate “lab with Takahito Kozuka”?

^ You can also subscribe to this thread so it shows up on your Settings page!

It looks like Jason is on Taka's TV show, which will air during GPF (Dec. 10) :) Very cool. I love Taka!!! (And I miss his skating greatly)

I loved the bit about his mom leaving notes in his skates, and I've been to the bottom of the Manitou Incline looking up. That's not something you do when you haven't adjusted to the altitude. I thought this one was very interesting.

Are you superstitious?

I'm not usually superstitious but I do make an extra effort to encourage good karma at competitions. For example, I let others go before me in line, I am very helpful with other people's luggage, and I choose the less desirable bed if I'm sharing a room.

FYI for Coloraldo Spring crowd: The 7k Nationals send off is on Dec. 28! https://www.instagram.com/p/BbubD8bg...ken-by=skate7k

Who wants to go and send us reports?

We may have other Centennial State residents who could join the fun as well? ;) (a bit far for me:biggrin:)

:)

My new place is not that far from Monument (45 mins?), so if the incredible weather holds and I can get off work early enough, I am planning to go, too!
