Jason Brown

^ All good points. Nationals is less than a month away -- the men's short program was a month from yesterday. On the other hand, I'd like him to try some. We'll see what happens, of course. :)

Jason Brown has the highest average IN score for men this season, I think. That is what I love about ice skating, there are many ways to be a winner.

On the iPad and can’t link, but did everyone see that his agent tweeted that Jason’s flight to Japan took 30 hours:shocked:
What’s up with that?

And because they do the SP in reverse qualification order, this time Jason skates first? I dont think my mind will comprehend that fact

Jason and Camden seemed to be on a layover in Korea together and Camden had earlier posted that he had a flight canceled and therefore missed his next flight, and had a 10-hr wait somewhere. If they were on the same flights from the start, this could have been why.

Oh No! What's with the comment "Maybe soon"... (wink) referring to cutting his hair??!!!
I know this has been a topic of speculation in Jason's FF before, but this is from the horse's mouth so to speak.. now I'm all kinds of stressed :drama: :eeking:
Very cute video BTW Tavi. :cool2: :thank:

He said something similar in the Ted Flett interview but at least at that time indicated it wouldn’t be this season.

Yeah, there's no way he's going to do that this season when he's skating to Hamilton!

But yeah I won't be surprised if we see a new hair style next season.

I remember that interview. It makes sense for Jason to hold off making such a decision until Olympic season is over, especially since the long hair/ponytail fits so well with Hamilton. I could easily live with a Jason haircut post Olympics. :) will be interesting.

Thank you for sharing the wonderful video. But I hope Jason does not cut his hair any time soon, at least not before the Olympics! Tanque Verde Ranch is a fantastic site in the Sonoran Desert.

I would be shocked to see Jason spend a full week at a ranch between Christmas and New Years. Just like most skaters this year, he will probably take a few days at most.

OMG, as if Baby Jason weren’t cute enough, that program!:luv17: Have we seen that before?

If being a Jason fan is drinking the KoolAid, I just made me a mighty big pitcher:laugh:

I’ve seen a shorter version of that video taken from a different angle. He’s amazing for such a tiny little boy! And he’s looking great in his adult version too, even with the edgy hairstyle. Wishing him all the joy in skating he had as a 5 year old when he takes the ice in Nagoya - and I’ll even get up godawful early to watch!

By the way, for those who haven’t seen it, here’s the USFS promo fluff for GPF, with very brief clips of each skater. Really funny to see how the different personalities come out in just a few seconds!

I saw the Twitter video and I was smiling the entire time! Jason is a ball of sunshine that can make anyone smile by him just being him. That's the magical thing about Jason.

He’s also changed the order of the jumps in both programs. In the SP the combo is now second and 3z is last - layout is basically the same as Worlds (spins are in same places but different order).

In the FS, he’s changed things up more - he starts with a 2A, moves the 3A-3T to the first half, and moves the 3z-1l-3S after the spiral instead of right before. Maybe they realized that adding a quad right now - and the placement of the other jumps - was just too taxing, given the rest of the program.

So I guess he’ll be trying to do pretty much what he did at Worlds - go for high GOE rather than high base value to up his TES. And honestly, if it helps him really sell the SP and cast a spell in the FS, I think it’s the right choice. His program is called Inner Love, which to me means embracing who you are at any given moment. I really hope he takes it to heart here.

And I really hope he adds back the tano arm on his SP Lutz - it’s so beautiful when he does it!

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another layout change for Nationals. I think this is an interim plan given the unexpected call-up (I know that he probably knew he was an alternate is obviously was training) but given that Nationals is less than month away he probably wants a clean performance at GPF and then peak at Nationals.

I just read this and thought of Jason: https://hackernoon.com/work-small-even-if-it-makes-no-sense-6bd1f401fc3a

I think we're all impatient to skate a clean program with a quad that we know he probably could do, but this article sums up why it might be necessary to take a step back.

A new article about Jason by Lynn Rutherford:

http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2017/12/06/262971260

A few interesting tidbits I picked up ... he's breaking in new boots and it reads like he will have a new costume for the free skate.

Random thoughts ... Jason has achieved his highest scores in Japan (and overall this year) when he competes against Shoma so let's hope that trend continues. Maybe he should give Shoma another shoulder shimmy for good luck. As for placement, I think 4th is reasonable but he could end up on the podium if he is on fire and the other skaters (not named Shoma and Nathan) don't perform to their potential.
