Jason Brown

Wasn't there a picture of Jason somewhere not too long ago with a tiny kitten in the palm of his hand? Darn cannot find it now... but maybe he really does like cats after all? Though I understand if he does not... cats are so unpredictable...

I think it was from the Philappines, but posted shortly afterwards?

You are both right. I went back through Jason's instagram and found it. (Jason and cute kittens should always be reposted!):

I looked at the time schedule for the SP and I'll be on my way to work when Jason skates.

Good Luck, Jason! :cheer:

Oh thank you SO much for finding this!! Cuteness overload!! (The only thing cuter than one tiny kitten is two tiny kittens... I raised two together who are joined at hip and remember their tiny kitten phase with fondness.. now a pair of devils... into everything..)
Good Luck Jason!!! Hope you somehow manage to catch his SP Katmari.

Well, not being a cat person doesn't have to mean a dislike of cats - I'm not a dog person, and I don't dislike dogs... in fact, some dogs I like very much indeed.:) (There was this white big dog that lived on the ground floor a few years back in the apartment building we used to live in - he was absolutely gorgeous, and I was very sorry when they moved... )

Well, SP really couldn’t come at a worse time for me tonight (1:30 to 5:00 am?!!), so I’m going to have to will myself to get up - but for Jason, I’ll do it.

With the lack of news coming out of 4CC, it’s really hard to know what to expect. Thank heavens for Chloe Ing’s Instagram story of a few days ago (and thanks again, @Yatagarasu, for the heads up!) without it, we would have basically no information!

Anyway, he looks relaxed and happy in pictures, but I really wish Jackie Wong would stop picking him to medal - every time he does, it turns out to be wrong!

Fingers crossed for tonight! :)

Lol. I'm going to catch the last two groups that means a 3 am wake up call. I'm tempted to go to bed now. Lol.

Oh god I hear you! Last two groups are 4:00 am for me, which is what I’ll aim for. But honestly I keep thinking those times are off. It’s the SP, so even with 30 guys, 4+ hous seems....long!

Looks like there's at least two ice resurfaces which would add another hour.

I'd be happy with a clean Hamilton program. He hasn't skated it clean ONCE this season.

7 am might as well be 4 am for me now; there’s a reason these days I will post at 1:30 a.m. my time, and it’s not because I see typically the sun rising in the east :p

Those of you waking up, I salute you!

Thanks! I'm grateful that in this technology age, generous people load the programs onto youtube right after the scores are announced so I'm hoping a video will be up by the time I get to work. This has been such an up and down season for Jason that I'm planning to check the score first. Then I'll know if it's:

:yahoo: Jason
or
:drama: Jason

before watching the video.

Have fun with the kittens!

Yeah I know, plus the warmups and time in knc. And agreed about Hamilton - since Hamilton’s his baby, I bet he really wants to go clean too. It’s really grown on me, so it’s kinda sad it may be the last time he does it in competition. Although I’m sure he’ll do the show version for SOI.

I wonder if he will keep either program for next year?

ETA I just watched has WTT FS. I remember watching it last April and realizing I wasn’t nervous for the 3A in the second half. And how happy he looked at the end of the FS. We really haven’t seen that all season. Hope it returns!

I want Jason to do show versions of Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen for SOI and I want backstage meetings between Jason/Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jason/Justin Paul/Benj Pasek when the show goes to New York.

I'd like to see Jason grow into and keep the FS for next season, but he may want to make a clean break from it.

The official Riverdance tweeted today about it being four years since Jason skated to Reel Around the Sun so of course I had to go watch it for the 1,000th time. (A hardship, I know.) I have always loved how much fun it looks like he's having with the program and it struck me that I don't think we've seen him have that much fun on the ice since in a competitive program. (It's a given that he's going to be the life of the party during his exhibition numbers.)

I love the emotional, lyrical, balletic programs Jason does, but I'd also like to see him cut loose and do something fun in competition.

I wouldn’t be surprised if does both Hamilton and DEH on tour - that’s what he did at Sun Valley.

Re programs: I’m not sure about “fun” - Juke was one of my least favorites- but I like it when he does contrasting short and free programs. If I had to choose I’d say I prefer the lyric ones. His style is so unique in them. But with three years of the same style FS, I bet they’ll change.

I still want a Latin program.

I'm going to put in my request for a purely classical program. Liebestraum was a great program for him back when he was a junior and we haven't seen something like that since then -- five years, people!

Good job for Jason! But his 3A is giving me - and probably him and Kori - stomachaches. He was getting +1.5-2.0 GOE on it last year. What happened, and why can’t they fix it? It just makes no sense to me.

That step out was completely unnecessary. The jump actually had good height and a good takeoff. It was totally a mental thing. He did that in the warm-up practice too, according to reports from Twitter.

I hope we'll see better 3As in the FS. I actually thought his short other than the 3A was really, really good. He certainly riled up the audience, which was cool.

Yeah, I agree that overall the SP was really good, and I’m really happy for him about that. Maybe recovering confidence in the 3A will just take time.

It was great to see him come back from the disaster that was his Nats FS to skate nearly clean. That’s actually a huge achievement in and of itself, and one that shouldn’t be overlooked. We’ve seen other guys in the past who didn’t make the Olympic team so devastated by disappointment that their performances at 4CC were dismal. That Jason was able to give such a good performance today, in that situation, and even after that opening mistake, is a testament to his positive nature, inner strength, and determination. That can’t be overstated, really, and I hope he realizes that in itself is an amazing achievement.

I can’t wait to see Piano again. It’s really such a gift to have it back. I hope he loves skating it as much as I will love seeing it!

I've had a chance to watch the SP on youtube and it was great except for the 3A (all level 4s, +2-3 GOE). For a change of pace, in the free skate Jason will go first in his group instead of last. When's the last time that happened?

We know Jason likes to please and worries about disappointing his fans when he doesn't go clean so I'm hoping he has a skate that he feels good about to end his season. (I know he could still be called up for the Olympics or Worlds, but I'm hoping he isn't and has the time to figure out what's going on with the 3A during the off season.)
