Jason Brown

Oh no -- is it possible Jason is out of Worlds?! Coach Z's twitter shows Max is going. TSL speculating that he is replacing Jason?

I have been wondering this as well, independent of TSL. It’s a silly point, perhaps, but no “Proud to represent the USA” or “So happy to go to Worlds” social media posts? That’s not like Jason....:noshake:

:sad21::sad21::sad21:

Agreed. I kept looking for something, anything on jasonbskates. Seemed odd there was no Jason-like excitement!

The ISU website has been updated and Max is listed instead of Jason. Jason and Ross are alternates.

:gaah:

:( I'm so so sorry that Jason won't be at Worlds but I'm sure there is a good reason for declining. It's been a tough season for him and I wish him all the best with whatever his "next adventure" turns out to be. Looking forward to his future skates!

How are you east-coasters are dealing with the storm?

:sad21: again. Also :angry1: and :tantrum:

But now, like No. 6 in the Prisoner (verrry old times reference) I just want “information”! I hopewe get more than he did:laugh:

Will miss Jason at Worlds but not surprised TBH. He may not want to compete again until his jumps are solid. The rumored coaching change makes sense especially if his and Kori's career paths are diverging at this point, but I will be sorry to see Jason leave Kori if that us the way things work out. I will wait with anticipation for any scrap of news that comes our wait and for his next competitive skate...

Thanks ROSA74 for thinking of us here in the east.... no snow yet where I am (eastern CT) it is predicted tonight; trees thrashing wildly in strong winds as I write this. Power flickers but is staying on, fingers crossed. Coastal areas have flooding.... prayers it will not be too bad....

Wind, wind and more wind, but not a blizzard like in way-northern PA. Or parts of New England. Supposed to rain, but changed to snow much sooner and maybe five inches? After our last snow, we had 75 degree weather two days later, like living in Colorado

As for Jason, we all understand privacy and figuring things out, but your loyal fans deserve an explanation. And we deserve it now :laugh:

Oh honey, you would not survive life as a Joshua fan.

I was actually going to say, this is almost Josh levels of radio silence (not quite);). But we have come to expect *some* info from Jason....

Actually if I wasn't eager for news, I would have to say I enjoy this newly-minted cryptic, Jason we've been seeing as of late. As I said previously, it's nice to see multiple dimensions of one's personality. But even his vague and sad posts are stilled tinged with sunshine.

In all seriousness, while I would have loved to see Jason skate in competition again, maybe it's good that he ended on a high note at 4CC and can focus on the next season and what seems to be some big changes in his life -- especially since he's doing SOI for two months. I think part of the problem last season was that he had WTT in late April and then had to turnaround and go full-blast with the Olympic season. It sounds like he's been doing a lot of thinking and contemplation about what he wants going forward and that's good. Adulting is SO hard, God knows I have a hard time with it, LOL.

I really wish TSL had stopped and thought about possible consequences before prematurely broadcasting non public information about Jason and Kori on Twitter. It’s also pretty ridiculous that between them, USFS, the ISU, and Tom Z couldn’t get the story straight and released at the right time, in the right way, without adding to the speculation.

It was TSL -- and only TSL -- that said anything about Kori and the possibility of a change in Jason's coaching.

Not to mention that it was three days ago that Jason himself spoke on social media: "The road's long, the journey's tough, but the view is great! Eyes onto the next adventure."
Leaving us to wonder whether he was hinting at confirmation of what TSL tweeted. Jason himself added to the speculation.

Nothing put forth from the ISU, Tom Z, and USFS has had a word about Jason's coaching.
I see no reason to blame them for speculation about what is happening between Jason and Kori.

If TSL had never tweeted anything about a change in Jason's coaching, I highly doubt that that questions about his coaching would have arisen based on the sequence of events involving the ISU, TZ, and USFS.
Yes, people would have been scratching their heads over the combination of: Jason's name as a full-fledged entry for Worlds on the ISU site; followed by TZ's tweet about Max and Worlds; followed by the change on the ISU site to Jason as a sub for Worlds; followed by the USFS press release saying that Jason declined Worlds.
But without TSL's tweet, I highly doubt that the thought of a possible coaching change for Jason would have crossed any fan's mind.

I am as curious as anyone as to what Jason's "next adventure" will be. But if he has decided to make a coaching change, I can understand that he is not in a rush to make an announcement. For one thing, leaving Kori obviously would be a monumental (no pun intended) decision for him. Even if he were the one who initiated the change, I can understand that wrapping his head around it could take some time.
And if he knows so far only that he is making a change -- without yet making a decision on who his new coach(es) will be -- I can understand that he would not want to announce anything until he is ready to say everything all at once.
IMO, announcing only that he were leaving Kori without announcing a new coach would be worse than waiting to say everything all at once.

Sylvia on FSU said in the Jason Cheer Thread about the Worlds' announcement that "Skaters are not supposed to announce anything before USFS does". I do not know her sources, but I respect Sylvia. Tom Z., in his excitement, tweeted at least two hours before any official word from USFS. If indeed skaters are not supposed to announce before the USFS does, this was jumping the gun and "not getting the story straight". An official announcement from USFS before a skater or their coach tweets could have prevented the speculation about who is withdrawing, who is not withdrawing, and who is replacing who. In that sense, they should have indeed gotten their stories together.

As for Kori, Jason and coaching changes, that may only be a matter for Jason's adoring fans. And what we know or do not know, who knows? (that's a lot of knows:) ) But it doesn't stop me from wanting to know.

If Sylvia is correct (and I too respect her ) -- then I understand the comment that Tom Z jumped the gun by a couple of hours.
If USFS feels the need to slap TZ's wrist because of his timing, fine by me.

But it is not true that Tom Z did "not get the story straight."
What he said about Max was accurate.
And TZ is not responsible for speculation re Jason's possible coaching change -- which seemed to be Tavi's issue.

I don't see any fans of Nathan complaining about TZ's tweet -- and the possibility it raised as to whether Max could be replacing Nathan.
(Some of Nathan's fans were curious as to what TZ's tweet meant in terms of Nathan, but they merely were curious. Not complaining.)
I don't see any fans of Vincent complaining either.

Sorry, I meant the mess that was Jason listed as the World Team and then Tom Z tweeting about Max before USFS explained that Jadon and Ross declined. I’m not blaming Tom Z but I do think there avoidable mistakes and lack of coordination.

Earlier in the thread I said I hoped Jason wouldn't be called up for the Olympics or Worlds and that he would take the time to figure out (and fix) what went wrong this season. As soon as I saw his name on the Worlds entry list though I became excited about skating again. I know I was just being a selfish fan who hoped for one more chance to see him this season.

I hope the best for him and for the skaters who will be representing Team USA at Worlds.
