Jason Brown

I hope he takes as much time as he needs to make the decisions. I’d like to see him go back to Chicago and talk with Ro. He could return to the States while he makes up his mind. Once moved out of Toronto he can start to move on with his life. After SOI he will know more about what he wants to do. I don’t see him working with the CC anymore. They don’t have anything to teach him now.

Jason will almost certainly consult with his family and may take a Chicago breather.

*If* Jason comes back to skating competitively (selfishly ), it will almost certainly be with Tracy and TCC, and it should be. Tracy took him on when he was at his lowest point mentally. She (and everyone else at TCC) helped forge a new path for Jason, taking his talents and honing them for the next level.

At this stage in Jason's skating life, it's not "what they have to teach", but "what they have to inspire". They have clearly been able to inspire some of his best work. The day he moves out of Toronto for good is the day he has made up his mind to stop skating competitively.

😭

I agree. While Jason's goals will change, it is clear that he just keeps getting better and Tracy and Brian and the team there are an integral part of that. It will depend on whether he wants to put in another year of competition, and what Tracy and Brian's goals are for their training group. I'm sure that if Jason wants to stay, they would be happy to have him for another year. He'll be in the States for the summer. He has plenty of time to make decisions.

I know there are more serious things to be sad about.

And I'm jumping to conclusions.

But I don't like the wording of David Wilson's post.

I get you. I've had the feeling that these Toronto pics have more of a goodbye tour feeling than a Welcome Back feeling. I mean, has David ever posted a pic of Jason? Other than when he and Zhenya first arrived? At least he's wearing skates in this one.

I'm preparing for a post Jason era. Whether it's now or a year from now, he's going to move on from competing and start a wonderful new chapter. I'm considering the possibility that SOI will be the last time I see Jason skate live. We'll see. I hope we get to see some version of Sinnerman on tour. I didn't get to see that skated in person.

He must be training something for SOI, I believe they have 2 single programs and then the group ones. I’d like to see SL too - I watched it a few times yesterday via YouTube. I really liked all the new movements. No commentary either. I’m sad, but I’d like to see what he does next. He likes to perform too much to give that up.

Well, I'm hoping the farewell to David Wilson is only that Jason's free skate for next year is being done by someone else.

Or Wilson just feeling overwhelmed that he got to work with Jason's immense talent and beauty for four years, culminating in those two breathtaking Olympic performances.

Jason is still first alternate for Worlds and may simply have returned TCC for some fine-tuning and to make sure he is ready in case he gets a last-minute call, and also to start putting miles into his SOI programs.

I am quite in denial and hoping that Jason will consider carefully and hope that he is happy to keep going another year.

Same, I'm not ready to say goodbye to competitive Jason!
Especially as both Vincent and Nathan have said they will be focusing on school moving forward rather than skating, there is room for Jason to be the reigning US man (yes i know there is Ilia but lets see a few more competitions before we crown him number 1), plus USFS being reliant on Ilia, Camden, Tomoki for spots moving forward is ... scary.

Plus selfishly I just want to see more of what Jason can produce!

USFSA article about Rohene and Jason's Sinnerman collaboration. Article is dated March 3, though most of the info in it I've read in other articles: https://www.usfigureskating.org/news/article/felt-magic
It's a good article that draws the whole Sinnerman creation story into the performance story. It's a phenomenal program and I hope that Jason will find venues where he can skate it over the next couple of years. It's too good to put away. If this is his last season, Riverdance and Sinnerman are incredible bookends!
