Jason Brown

I would LOVE to see Hayawek and Baker. Their exhibition pieces are always so creative and he's quite a showman. I do think Jason had already made plans of some sort when he wasn't chosen for the World Team. I'm just hoping Ilia skates well because I don't have much faith in Vincent OR Camden. Whatever Jason does I hope it's in front of a crowd...(preferably with me in that crowd!:hap10:) I don't have an SOI stop any closer than Chicago and that's just not viable. I wonder if they're going to televise any of it this year.
I’m glad Jason took his trip to Peru and has had so much fun.

I've been to several SOI meet and greets when I lived in California. They were always very nice, the skaters were genuinely glad to interact with the fans, and they spent a lot of time with us. I felt it was worth it. The only issue then was you didn't know which skaters were going to be in attendance until you got there. One time it was the day after Polina Edmund's high school senior prom and she wasn't able to go because she had to skate. She was dressed in her prom dress. It was very pretty and someone even gave her a corsage. Two other skaters stick out in my mind because I was surprised at how short each of them is: Ashley Wagner and Patrick Chan. I've met Jason several times and he's just as sweet and gracious as he seems in interviews, etc. His energy and love of life and what he's doing just exudes from him. I hope all of you get the chance to meet him some day.

I've met and talked to Jason twice and he is exactly as you say. The protocols will probably keep them 6 feet away from us and masked, but they will be there. I just want to say thank you for everything he's given me. I had an unexpected 10 minute conversation with Ashley once also. She was delightful, friendly, pleasant and great sense of humor. I became a big fan! Jason just spontaneously jumped out of his chair and hugged me. He is the nicest person and really interested in his fans. Got to chat with Adam Rippon too. He was so nice and very genuine. And funny! Being a skating fan this past 8 years has been amazing!

This is the same number of skaters they've had every year:

Three men, three or four ladies, three "couples" (in previous years, three ice dancers). Given how the show is typically structured (group numbers, fluff) they may be able to sneak in one or two more as "guest performers". But as much as I would love to see him, it won't be Ro. :)
I don’t mean Ro at SOI - I think there is only 1 pairs team

I hope so too!

Which is one more than they have had in the past five years.(y)

In my limited experience, but from following Jason in SOI, they have traditionally had three ice dancers. That is it for skating "teams", This year, two ID teams and one pairs.

Unless they lengthen the show, which is fine by me. :)

I can picture Jason jumping out of his chair. I wasn’t following ice skating much 4 years ago as I was competing myself. I’m glad Jason is happy and practicing with Ro. He may have more surprises up his sleeves that he hasn’t mentioned yet. I’m glad he isn’t skating at Worlds. Japan will probably take the top 2 placements. Let’s see how everyone does without the top skaters this year.

It has probably been 25 years since I went to a Ice Show. I‘m sure it’s fun, but exhausting after a couple weeks for the skaters. All the travel. I wonder if they use a charter a plane?

They charter a bus for the Pennsylvania and New York shows, but I don't know about the others.

I think it might just be Jason playing around with a snippet - he's done that before.

I think the reason SOI has had more ice dancers than pairs teams is because they've been more successful in competition and therefore probably more well-recognized by the general public. Just conjecture on my part. That blurb from Human looked more polished and choreographed than Jason just fooling around. Perhaps it's his second performance on SOI - although I love love love Melancholy.

Allison Manley of the Manleywoman skate cast was at the Chicago event:

The thread has a group photo with kids and this comment:

Last thing: it’s been such a privilege to watch Jason grow up on the ice. I skated with him when he was under 4 feet tall learning 2axel, took my Junior MIF test on the same session (we skated back to back) and now to an artistic/athletic wonder. :love2:

So Jason is not going to Worlds. Was there an official reason for him not going? Or did he just decline once Nathan dropped out? This might have been his chance to be on the Worlds podium.

There is no official reason.

My guess, which I have proffered elsewhere, is that Jason decided he wasn't going to Worlds, even with a withdrawal, after the Olys. Or at least before he took the Peru gig. ;)

I would have loved to have seen him, but I think it shows what a good place he is in mentally that he is not chasing Worlds standings, And also maybe a hint....😭
