So Worlds are over, and whilst I don’t want to revel in a skater not doing well, it was clear that USFS did in fact make the correct decision for their Olympic team. One good skate does not a consistent competitor make.

Also the fact that Jason’s Olympic score was higher than any of the US men at Worlds and would have snagged him a Bronze medal 🙃

Without a doubt the correct skater went to the Olys, but we knew that. :)

Also, does anyone else think maybe Vincent and Jason should have a good long talk about how to overcome depression and heartache? Maybe Jason can help while on the SOI tour

I enjoyed the World Championships very much. And it was great without the Russians. It gave other ladies a chance to compete without that stress, and some new people had a chance they wouldn’t have had otherwise. The general feeling seemed nice in-spite of the war. The Ice Dance was the best event to me. Also, the American’s were able to climb on the podium. That event was judged correctly too. The men’s event was good and the placements were spot on. I knew the Japanese would take the first two spots, and they deserved to win. Now that we have seen Jason absent from a big competition, we can began to understand his decision not to go. I also do not think Nathan would have won.

I expect that there will be some discussions about depression, disappointment and retirement and I'm sure that Jason can help. This is a good group to travel with. And yes, Jason was the right skater to go to the Olympics. He earned it with his consistent results and continued improvement all year long.

An uninjured Nathan would have won. He was wise to stay put with his injury. He's contracted for SOI Japan and SOI USA and he had nothing much to gain from World's. I'm sure he was disappointed, though. Jason was right to take a break and go to Peru. That was special.

Yikes - that almost sounds like a "goodbye!" Love the picture.
It does and I think that he is seriously contemplating moving to other things. But as World's scores proved, he is still at the top of his game and can compete with the best of them. It's a lot of work and dedication to keep it up and he may be ready to put that energy and effort into something else. But I believe him when he says he hasn't decided yet. I think this post is part of the process. He's achieved his goals. He needs to decide if he wants to set new goals or not. That's the hard part. But it does sound like he's leaning toward retiring as a competitor.

This is so hard for his fans too. We love all that he stands for. I’m sad, but it will be great seeing him having fun on the SOI tour. He’ll be seeing Tracy over the weekend; and he’s spending time with Rohene. I hope he works with Ro and still has options to do shows, seminars and teaching elsewhere. He probably needs to get his different certifications to coach, etc. I like him as a model too! Options are there it’s just overwhelming now.

On the contrary, I take great encouragement from that post (though I admit that when I saw the white text on black background at first my soul did leave my body for a moment!). He refers only to the season, not his career. Why would he only refer to the season so explicitly if there was not to be another season?

Because he still hasn't made up his mind completely. He makes no mention of next season and that's a departure from his norm. I don't think he'll announce anything until after he's done with SOI.

Today's instagram story from Jason says "Preparing for Show Season with Rohene. Stars on Ice Tour up first. Hope to see you there." Hopefully that means that he'll be doing other shows? Hawayek and Baker have been added as special guests for the final 7 shows, and Ashley and Tim for the final show. Sadly, those shows are not near me. West Coast Fans will be able to see them along with the rest of the tour.
