Jason Brown

Another podcast interview with Jason:

This is an hour long and I have only listened to the first 20 minutes. Some of it is the usual, but with more of a deep dive:

Jason knew something wasn't quite working between 2014 and 2018, but he didn't confront it.

He felt pressure to keep up the image of happy smiley Jason.

And he has a Canadian drivers license🇨🇦

Also, the podcaster is a high school classmate of Jason's. ;)

Jason is going to be performing in Fantasy on Ice in Japan this summer. He's going to be doing the Kobe (June 17-19) and Shizuoka (June 24-26) shows:

ETA: Jason's tweet

Google translate:
It has always been my dream to appear in FOI. I'm glad that dream came true this summer I'm really looking forward to it ‼ ︎ See you in June in Kobe and Shizuoka!

Thanks for this information. Jason loves Japan so this will be great!

It's a good and thoughtful interview. They go over some familiar territory, but they also go deeper into some things. I had not heard before that the Olympic rebroadcasts were geoblocked in China, so he had to wait until after he left China to watch his own performances.

Definitely worth the hour. Still no clues to what he's thinking about doing next. It was not addressed at all. On this past Olympic experience, he said that the whole experience was very different and very weird. He kind of summed it up as no banquet, no media, no audience. Did it really happen? I expect that there is a lot of "what next?"chatter on the SOI bus!

I enjoyed the podcast. It's definitely about the mental game with skating, but not that much about skating itself. No talk about jumps, only generic mentions of coaches, no names. Just about how Jason has dealt with the ups and downs of his career over the past 8 years. It's good!

Enjoyed the podcast - they both talk so fast. Jason has been having fun in NYC. The whole cast was at the Harlem Gala event.

Jason looking fly at the the Figure Skating in Harlem gala:

With the SOI cast:

Yes- his outfit is perfect!

Jason's mom is in NY with him. She probably came both to see him and support Figure Skating in Harlem. They were all being honored and the Browns are so generous! The skaters are having a lot of fun in NYC! Tomorrow we see them in Allentown PA. I am really looking forward to the show!

Interview with IFS Magazine in New York

Interesting tidbit about "I Lived" for SOI:

We all skate two solos but they wanted us all to choose one program that captures our own experience, our own career, and our own journey,” the 27-year-old explained. “So I chose this piece. It is all about kind of embracing life, the highs and lows, living it all and wearing your heart on your sleeve.

But hmmm, he chose to stay in NYC until the last possible minute rather than visit Allentown?;) Can't wait either.

Maybe his mom will be at the show tonight? It's a fairly easy car trip from Manhattan. They got to go to a Broadway show, Central Park and who knows what else. I am looking forward to seeing skaters live after having World's 2020 canceled (we had tickets and hotel rooms) and deciding to cancel the trip to Nashville this year, this is the cherry on my fandom love affair with Jason! It will be so nice to see him flying across the ice and smiling!

I enjoy the reports of the Stars on Ice performances and am looking forward to reading the reactions to this weekends' shows.

In other Jason news, along with the Fantasy on Ice (Japan) shows he will be performing in June he will also be performing in the The Ice (Japan) shows in July (July 23-24 Aichi, July 26-28 Niigata, July 30-31 Osaka)

I just got back from SOI less than an hour ago, but need to tell people who will understand:

I was in row 6. He did the wiggle in Sinnerman, the wiggle with his arms and his hips right before he goes into the final spins and pose, in front of our section, facing our section. Right in front of me. I could see the "just keep watching me, because I have something to show you" look on his face

:dbana:

More details, probably tomorrow, but I will say, Sinnerman live is everything I thought it would be. ❤️

I posted a too long overall review in the Edge, :laugh:but more Jason specific content:

I was thrilled how much the audience adored him, because much of them were clearly there to see another accomplished skater, and I don't think they knew Jason before the show.

His "I Lived" number is peppy and cute and four Russian spilts:clap: (and different too, one touching the skates, one with his hand in the air), what Jasonites expect from a Jason exhibition number. (especially the ending, laying down and then jumping up immediately to wave to the crowd).

But Sinnerman. :drama:The beat just surrounds you in an arena, everyone is clapping, and it's just (as we know), a move a minute. The roar when he started the final scratch spin was loud (and of course we know the "butterfly move" and ending pose are still coming, but when the crowd realized there was more and saw that, they erupted even more. That reaction was like seeing Sinnerman for the first time.

Group numbers, my eyes were on Jason, I make no apologies:biggrin: He's just made for these numbers, he moves, he waves the hands in the air, he sings along, he makes gestures, and not everyone else (OK no one else, not like him) was doing it. He also made sure his BFF Karen was nearby, he put his hands behind for her to grab on (specific to them, not part of the number).

I do have a sad for one thing: if Jason didn't want to retire because in recent years, no crowds, no feedback, well, even a half full arena gave him plenty of positive feedback.. He's the star, the audience loves him. I think I've read the other shows are the same.

That won't be a reason for him to continue😢

Thanks for this wonderful report! I'm so happy that you and the other East Coast folkx got to see Jason live. I'm still bummed I couldn't join you - to see Jason, and to put faces to your names. :)
