Thanks for he SOI reports! Question for @el henry . You said in the Edge SOI thread that Jason omitted jumps. Was that just for Sinnerman? Was it all the jumps? Curious because I thought I'd seen video of that number where he does jump.
I may have took leave of my senses.Jason has encouraged many top skaters to learn and start competing with some artistry after seeing his components rise. I think the sport will change as more retire due to injury. Look atInteresting! I think he may give up on the quads and concentrate instead on pushing all the other components and keeping consistent. If he'd tripled that jump at the Olympics (instead of doubling it), he would have placed, what, 4th?
Plus, he's skating the way he wants to skate, emphasising the artistry. I think he might want to keep pushing the sport in a different direction, and may consider another year or two. That's what I'm hoping, too, of course....

I hope there will be some coverage of these shows.I love the lineup for the Ice
Of course, Jason,
but Shoma, JunHwan, and Kevin! And the other American guys and Kazuki? (Nicely done trailer, too.)

The program was shortened as all skaters had to change things for time schedule for the shows. He did many jumps. Thanks for he SOI reports! Question for @el henry . I thought he omitted the jump after the lunge, but maybe it just came a few beats later? Whatever jumps he did were rotated and landed. Jason knows better than to break the flow of a program.
After the choreo move in front of my section, where of course he was staring just at me and no one elseI may have took leave of my senses.
I posted a too long overall review in the Edge, but more Jason specific content:
I was thrilled how much the audience adored him, because much of them were clearly there to see another accomplished skater, and I don't think they knew Jason before the show.
His "I Lived" number is peppy and cute and four Russian spilts(and different too, one touching the skates, one with his hand in the air), what Jasonites expect from a Jason exhibition number. (especially the ending, laying down and then jumping up immediately to wave to the crowd).
But Sinnerman. The beat just surrounds you in an arena, everyone is clapping, and it's just (as we know), a move a minute. The roar when he started the final scratch spin was loud (and of course we know the "butterfly move" and ending pose are still coming, but when the crowd realized there was more and saw that, they erupted even more. That reaction was like seeing Sinnerman for the first time.
Group numbers, my eyes were on Jason, I make no apologiesHe's just made for these numbers, he moves, he waves the hands in the air, he sings along, he makes gestures, and not everyone else (OK no one else, not like him) was doing it. He also made sure his BFF Karen was nearby, he put his hands behind for her to grab on (specific to them, not part of the number).
I do have a sad for one thing: if Jason didn't want to retire because in recent years, no crowds, no feedback, well, even a half full arena gave him plenty of positive feedback.. He's the star, the audience loves him. I think I've read the other shows are the same.
That won't be a reason for him to continue
Jason is small but mightyl Maddie and Zack were great. Loved seeing them in person. Alexa and Brandon were show stoppers as well. Those pair women are so brave.Jason did two jumps in the first half of Sinnerman in Allentown. They were great jumps! He also did lots of spins and incredible footwork. It was electrifying. I was dancing in my seat. He put out so much energy throughout the program, group numbers included. I, like El Henry, followed him in all the group numbers. He skates them like no one else. I remember that in 2018, the two men that stood out in group numbers were Jason and Charlie White. This time it was Jason and Zach Donohue. I drove 5+ hours to see that show, stayed with a friend and drove back home yesterday. It was worth every mile I drove and every $ I spent. If you can get to a show, go! Just seeing Jason was worth it, but shout out to Nathan and Vince who skated their hearts out, and Maddie and Zach and Karen who did as well. A good time was had by all!
I hope Karen just left for that night. Sinnerman was the biggest hit with applause to me except maybe back flips. For people who don’t follow skating Nathan may have been the draw, but many of the people around me just loved all the solo, pairs and dance skaters just as well. I hope this generates new skating fans too. Next year will be very different. I’d say Hershey arena was about 3/4 full.Apparently Karen left feeling sick. I hope she's ok. El Henry and I were both at Allentown with several other GS posters. The show went well. We all loved the EJ medley at the end. Jason was having a blast and it looked like all the other skaters were too. Yes, Nathan was definitely the star of the show, but Jason won the audience over. The Russian Splits in the first program and the cartwheels were hugely popular. Karen posted on Instagram that she had a new skill (a cartwheel!) thanks to Jason and Mirai. Sinnerman electrified the entire audience. No chatter during that program and lots of applause and hand clapping to the music. El Henry thought that the arena was half full. I think it was more than that but maybe not more than 65%. Definitely better attendance than 2018. Skaters who medaled at the Olympics were a big draw. Nathan definitely sold tickets. But hopefully the show made some new skating fans out of a casual audience. Everyone near me kept saying how incredible Jason was. On one side of me was the mother of a 4 year old who just started skating, and on the other side was an adult synchro skater who LOVED the group numbers. But I kept hearing people saying Jason or Jason Brown after seeing him skate.
It was a fun night! I'm glad that you got to see it in Hershey.
in Sinnerman.
The height! The flow in and out! So much better than when I last saw him live in 2016.
Hope that you get well soon. Boston does love Figure Skating. 7000 tickets is a lot! I've seen some of the videos. The skaters were energized. Allentown was less well attended. We were lucky that they came there at all. Downtown Allentown is not a lively place at night. They might pull better on a Saturday afternoon, but I'm sure they have better venues for that. It was better attended than 2018, which is the last time SOI was there.Boston Agganis Arena holds about 7,000 people, and it was sold out! It was a great show.
I actually preferred "I Lived" to "Sinnerman" I missed the triple Axel and the second jump of the combinationin Sinnerman.
Skaters should make the choreography for the exhibition versions of their SP & FS well before the exhibition season. I found I preferred their EX numbers to the reimagined competition numbers in every case, because it was too easy to see where things were watered down. Vincent's "Vincent" was probably the best watered down version of a competition program, but I still loved Sinnerman.
My DIL loved Jason without knowing who he was, noticing his style, charisma, and musicality.
She also liked Alyssa's Squid Games number as she had watched the show. We were both amazed at how she could skate inside that costume.
With none of the men doing quads, you could compare their triples. Jason's were the bestThe height! The flow in and out! So much better than when I last saw him live in 2016.
Karen was sick and did not skate.
So am I sick, but as I tested negative, I went anyway and so glad I did!
Sinnerman is a harder program than the other men. They can’t do what Jason does at that pace, They skate around putting their arms in the air and doing simpler steps. The audience probably thought they did quads bc that’s what USFS wants to promote about them. Jason’s jumps were great and he skated with so much joy!Boston Agganis Arena holds about 7,000 people, and it was sold out! It was a great show.

. When I realized after the second jump that was it, and the spell would not be broken, (particularly after the reverse lunge) I segued into full on enjoyment,
