Jason Brown

Also posted this article in the general SOI thread, but more specifically about Jason: although we've heard the concept from Jason before, I have not read where he says it so bluntly:

"I felt irrelevant... I got lost in that mental place of thinking about everything I lacked." ... he worried whether his type of skating — a balance between precision, athleticism and performance — was being devalued. Eventually, he was able to work through the self-doubt.

"I so respected everybody who was pushing the boundaries technically, and finally I thought, 'Why don't I respect myself for pushing it forward artistically?' I just started to do that. Did I still come into the rink every single day to work on my technical difficulty? Absolutely. But I wasn't harping on myself the way I was in the past. Soon I could feel myself maturing, feel my skating getting stronger and better, and that kept my fire going."

😭
So many of us know what he brings to the sport that can't replicated, and hopefully he feels that now. Certainly from everything I've been reading about SOI, he feels it now. (y)

This is the person who conducted the ten minute promotional interview with Jason. But he was a skating fan before then.

With good taste. :)

ETA: His TV channel weatherperson commented "I"m actually obsessed". No indication she was a fan before, another Jason convert.(y)

I'm sorry, I know I'm spamming with these, but I just love the pre-show Q & As with Mariah and Jason, they are too adorable together. Extrovert One and Extrovert Two. This is a ten minute clip.

New story: young Jason falling on a spin in front of the mayor of Chicago (halfway through). Also cute, although heard before, from Jason: my parents never went to a practice. they were like, we have two other kids and too many things to do. But every comp. they were there. :)

That was very interesting. I enjoy seeing Jason and Mariah handle these Q&As. SOI has created a wealth of Jason content. And tonight it ends for the season. An Instagram live with the two Maddie's affirmed that they all fly out of Portland early tomorrow morning, so no wrap party. Maddie H is moving to London Ontario. No other information on what's next was given.

If you haven't run into it, a Japanese fan started an Instagram account called Team Jason Brown. He or she gathers as much content from other posters as possible and with permission, reposts the Jason clips. There has been lots of SOI content from various sources. But the poster lives in Japan presumably, and may be going to the ice shows where Jason will be skating. And will undoubtedly gather other people's clips of Jason while he's in Japan. So it might be worth checking out for future content.

Not only are the photos adorable, but in the first one, only Jason and Zach got the memo about which camera to look at.😁 (and yes I can tell there was more than one. But this was the best angle. ;) )

It's probably the last time they will all be together. Except for Alysa, they've all been competing together internationally for at least 8 years. This tour was very, very special! Jason posted from O'Hare yesterday, so he's with his family. He's also going to be filming with Jordan Cowan in early June. That might be happening in Chicago. Then he's off to Mexico (and Nathan is doing a seminar in Mexico later in June, so it's a thing) and then off to Japan. Life goes on and more great things to come, but the Olympic Party is over. It's been an incredible 8 years!

Jason fluff still appears!

A rather long article, some of the same stories, but a few new nuggets too

1. Jason has yet to try a dating site, but he might. :)

2. Of course he'd love to DWTS, and thinks a same sex paring would be "cool".

And this one:

You’ve won so many awards. It seems like you’d need a small warehouse to store them all. Where do you keep them?

Actually, I keep them in my childhood bedroom. They’re all kind of on my desk and around my bed. And then, for the international events, we get medals. I have this huge map of the world on one of my walls and I pinned all of my international medals around that map.

Awwww:love:

Hi, I occasionally lurk here and thought I'd share the the full version of the grand finale for the Portland show here too, since Jason was one of my focus in this video ( as well as Nathan and Vince).
Everyone, both skaters and audience, became quite emotional - happy, excited, and at the same time sad to realize that the show was coming to end (Karen was wiping away tears).

My apologies for some framing out and blurry moments.

Jason, as always, was fabulous!

Wow! Thanks for posting this. You did a great job! I saw the show in Allentown early in the tour and it's clear from various videos that they got better and more enthusiastic as the tour went on. This was a great example. They are a great team. This was a once in a lifetime experience for them. I'm glad that we were lucky enough to be able to see them all skate together one more time.

How wonderful to see the grand finale and to see the skaters so emotional. As well as, of course, Jason.

Thank you for posting!

Thanks for posting! The finale seems to have been reworked in a good way since I saw the show in Boston. :)
I noticed that too. The entire show seemed to be skated better and performance values were much higher as the tour went on. I think we saw the 5th show. But they don't come back east for the later shows, so we get what we get. I still enjoyed it very much. But Vince's little solo in the finale was really so much better than in the early shows. He looked like he got some coaching from Jason or just imbibed watching Jason. He was great!

More fluff in the offing:biggrin:

Jason is in NYC doing a video shoot (?) for Self Magazine. The IG Stories of Emerson College alumni @Emersonalumni have Jason content because an Emerson alumnus is producing the shoot. Jason dancing, primping, talking, and he's wearing the Sinnerman costume. :)
