My conspiracy theory of the day (because I need to be distracted, so it is all figure skating and football, all the time :) )

Has Jason parted ways with Jackson due to his skate issues? The Jackson/US Figure skating welcome to worlds IG shows many skaters, but no Jason. They are all skating in practice clothes, or in Andrew's case just posing with a skate, so lack of a good clip should not be an issue.

Did I miss him?

(And I am not a good fan, I have no idea if Jason was skating in Jacksons during the GP).

Jason just posted this reel. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of skating equipment can determine the boot brand.

Comments like this are are definitely encouraging!

You looked so good at Skate Oakville’s simulation event last week! It was a joy to see you skate again.

That comment is encouraging! I saw another one somewhere about Jason skating well at the Skate Oakville (another site? I usually don't read the skating comments, but I do about Jason. :) Or thee comments in another post? Or both:biggrin:)

I tried to find a fancam of the Skate Oakville sendoff, but no success.

I'm pretty sure he was at least for the first GP. He said his boots were several years old. I don't know for sure whether he skated with the old boots at the 2nd GP. He looked super cautious, which made me think he might be breaking in the new boots. He has not made any comments about it. He didn't even mention boot problems when he withdrew from Nats. He called it equipment problems. When he first moved to Cricket and was hanging out with Zhenya, he briefly tried EDEA boots at her suggestion. He went back to Jackson after a couple of months. As far as I know, he's been in Jackson's boots ever since. But this season the boot issue was serious, so maybe he did decide to try a new boot.

The clip definitely shows Jason in competition condition. So whatever the problem was, he's well on his way to solving it.

Gosh, so happy to see him skating so beautifully again after what he went through last fall. It must have been so frustrating for him. Thankfully, it really looks like he’s overcome whatever was plaguing him.

As to what boots he’s in now, El, I’m not an expert but they don’t look like Edeas (which have a very distinctive shape) or his old Jacksons (which had “Jackson” in gold on the back of both heels). Time will tell, I guess. 😊

Jason about his equipment issues, and more, before Worlds

“There were times when I was talking with Tracy and I was saying, ‘Is this maybe the end? Am I getting old? Is my body saying you’re done?’’’ Brown said. “It was starting to chip away at my confidence.”

No one outside his training team and family knew it had taken what Brown calls his “Hanukkah boots” to get through the past two seasons.

Interesting long article from Phil Hersh with new info:

And I was right for once in my life, tee hee,
On Feb. 3, he began working with boots from a different manufacturer. He has stuck with them.

To absolutely no one's surprise, Jason skipped the first practice session.

But looking at the tagged photos for his IG (which I will not link for "civilians" ;) ) he appears to be taking selfies with fans, in what looks like an arena lobby. If I had to guess. :)

My super stalking skills suggest he’s in (edit) Graf - based on the heel of the skate and that Jason follows the brand on instagram.

There’s footage of his practice floating around and he looks back to form!! His triple axels looked solid and floaty, I could literally cry!

Excellent news! Stuff happens, and sometimes a skater can’t skate well, as happened with him on the GP. But I never believed that it meant he wasn’t as good. I hope he is able to perform the way he wants out there.

I posted about this on the U.S. men’s thread, but at the last two WC Jason has out placed 14 men with quads (and some without of course). Fun fact of the day!
