Jason Brown

Based on what we're seeing, Jason is not injured. But competing relies on strong 3As in competition, which Jason hasn't had in the last couple of seasons. He can do them, but he's not landing them when it counts. So that's going to be a decision point, I think. The passion is there. A lot depends on what the scoring rules will be this season. He's still better at spins than any of the other men, and his PCs tend to be higher. But the gap is narrowing among the very best skaters. He'll continue to get those points if he can deliver the jumps. Ultimately, he'll do what makes him feel happy and what he thinks will move skating forward in the things he finds most important. But I don't think he wants that Nats skate to be his last competitive skate, so I think he'll be seriously considering doing some competitions this season to see where he is and how much he can do.
Jason might decide to compete in some senior B's and put his name in th Grand Prix mix. But, I agree that Jason will know when it is time to retire. I am also positive that we will see Jason be a choreographer at some point. I can't wait to see what he does next. Hopefully, Jason will be inducted into the US. Figure Skating Hall of Fame, someday.

Senior Bs are highly likely. Hall of Fame, for sure. The viral Riverdance performance alone warrants that. Add his influence in the skating levels, his longevity and his popularity all point to that as well. Choreo is likely and so is coaching and performing. But he's not retired yet.

I'm home and SOI and Jason were wonderful. Jason had 2 programs and was in all of the group numbers. My favorite was I Just Might with Jason, Ilia, Andrew, Danny and Anthony. The friend that went with me has never been to a figure skating comp or show and picked Jason out immediately as the best dancer - especially in this number. He really gets down with it. He also got a tremendous welcome from the crowd when he took the ice. Spiegel m Spiegel was such a change from the comedic numbers and you could have heard a pin drop in that arena when he skated. Ilia and Alysa both got very long standing ovations and the crowd was very supportive of all the skaters. It was a great show. Interesting note, my friend said she wouldn't miss anything to do with figure skating if it came anywhere near St. Louis. We're winning them over one at a time! :jump3:

I went to SOI on Sunday and it was indeed a great show! I knew it was a big deal this year, but I was surprised at the enthusiasm and screams for all of the skaters. There were very few empty seats and a mix of all age groups, which was nice to see.

Jason was a total delight and really seemed to be in his element. I think that Too Darn Hot was choreographed especially for him and he was almost an MC for the entire show. Maybe he will end up taking over the production or choreography for SOI at some point?

I'm not crying, you're crying. Evan pushes out Jason from the group to receive extra love from the hometown crowd at Chicago SOI.

And the skaters chant "Jason". Awww😭

H/T to @fzztsimmons Twitter.

It’s been so heartwarming to see Jason so happy and so adored by the crowds at stars on ice! It’s healing for me, so I can’t imagine what it feels like for him!

My good friend went to SOI in San Jose tonight and she said she's never seen the arena so full. All but the very top tiers were taken. We've been going to that arena for Nationals and Worlds and SOI for years and never seen it that full. I know some of the interest is because Alysa is from the SF Bay Area but I don't think that accounts for all the interest. She said Jason got a standing O for Spiegel m Spiegel/

Edited to add they were charged $50 for parking. :eek2:

This article came up on my phone this morning and - not knowing how to get it here - I decided to pick a bit from it that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was posted by someone named Girl Culture and she talks about attending Nationals and then SOI in Chicago. "I was also thrilled that even though Jason Brown didn't compete at this year's Olympics, the crowd still went absolutely nuts for his hometown show. For me, Jason is up there with Michelle Kwan, Nathan Chen, Kaori Sakamoto and Virtue and Moir as one of the most captivating performers in the history of the sport and so much of that was on display throughout the night. He was clearly the artistic standout in the group numbers (even more so than the ice dancers, which surprised me) and his solo performances were a brilliant showcase for his range as a skater. His free skate "Spiegel m Spiegel" highlighted all the grace and elegance he's famous for, but it was his energetic take on Aladdin's Friend Like Me that truly blew me away."....It's so clear this is what he was born to do and I hope he keeps skating forever."

Anyway, she went on to write about Alysa and Ilia and the SOI show in general. I just had to post that excerpt here. And I did it without a typo this early in the morning. :love3:

Thank you @noskates, I love a challenge and it is close to the afternoon for me, so here is the article:

"It's so clear this is what he was born to do and I hope he keeps skating forever." Same girl, same.

Ok, too funny .... and Jason is such a good sport for taking part in this, after his heartbreak at US Nats. I still get sad.

It is sad that he missed this Olympics. But both he and Adam have been in that place and each still got to go to at least one Olympics, so this duo is very special! I will be away from home when this firsts broadcasts so I'm hoping for a replay. I'll be back home in the evening. It's a huge testament to Jason that he dove right in cheering and promoting in Milan and he's continued to be the number one cheerleader for this team. And yes, he should have been on it. But he's building a solid foundation for whatever comes next, competitor, cheerleader, show performer, coach, whatever. He's still a star! Plus this has been an epic SOI season and it's right and proper that he is part of the cast!

What I like about this is that Jason and Rohene are giving a seminar together (and a little beach time on the side ;) )

Makes me think about what could be when that dreaded R word day comes....
