Jason Brown

In case the following was never mentioned in a thread in The Edge:
[ETA, I see that Mrs. P already had mentioned it here :): http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...is-going-viral&p=834690&viewfull=1#post834690]

Speaking of butter cups... have you guys had Reeses ice cream? The best thing on earth. Oh wait, Jason's Riverdance is the best thing on earth. (Had to find a feeble way back to the topic) ...

What in the world is a peanut butter cup?

Kori, stop trying to kill me before the Olympics even start.

Best part of what I do everyday-the chance to make someone's bad day better, help overwhelming be manageable & coach dreams into realities!

That looks simultaneously disgusting and delicious at the same time.

If Jason says it tastes good, that's good enough for me, but he can have all of them. :agree:

As a Yuna uber, it is my sad duty to shake you back to reality. ;)

-Yuna's most viewed videos were taken down long, long ago, and continue to be taken down on a regular basis (I won't go into the sordid details of how or why). Suffice it to say that on a fair comparison, Yuna's view count is impossible to surpass anytime soon.

-We can get a good sense of the difference in magnitude even here on this forum. When Yuna is in competition, her threads will routinely hit 60-70,000 views in a matter of days. As you can see, Jason's still hasn't passed 15,000.

Jason has got a lot of potential, but he's still got a ways to go before his uberdom can bear comparison with that of Yuna, or Michelle at her peak. :)

I knew this is going to happen. :rolleye: Chill it people. Most of the time we just adore him as a person. Nothing more nothing less.

Where are you getting these viewer figures from? I went on you tube and the vids I saw were certainly not a million plus.

Some of Jason's fans seem to a fairly new to the uber game, so let me explain: a big part of the fun of being a uber is good-natured rivalry (with the caveat that when it is not good natured, then it is not so fun). Any longtime sports fan knows this.

Mrs. P laid down the gauntlet (from the quip in her original post, she knew was doing so ;)), and I answered it in the same spirit. The key is to do with factually, with humor and respect. I did not say that Jason was a bad skater & etc.; I was merely addressing certain claims of popularity and putting them in context.

Mrs. P, it seems to me, understands the Big Boy/Big Girl rules. As long as such exchanges are done with the right tone, I would suggest that going all Inspector Javert is not the appropriate response. :p

Let me repeat that again. I knew this is going to happen. :rolleye:

Jason definitely has better hair than Ms. Kim.

Vive The Power of the Ponytail!

You seem determined to make me repeat myself, so I'll indulge you ;):

There have been any number of videos of Yuna's signature performances which have, in the past, achieved very high numbers. The ones that pulled the highest viewer numbers, though, are no longer with us, removed for a variety of reasons. In Yuna's case, there are, at any one time, often multiple versions of the same performance, all pulling high view counts.

For her Olympics performances, for example, if it were possible to look at the performance view counts in aggregate, including deleted videos, they would dwarf Jason's. Anyone who has followed figure skating (and figure skating videos) for the past couple of quads will know this to be true. The vids that you see now for some of her signature performances are frequently the less popular versions, or newer versions that fans put up after the monster older versions were taken down.

I wasn't really planning on spending a lot of time on this topic, after the initial friendly exchange with Mrs. P, and I hope to leave it here.

Jason's has greater length, but Yuna has better body and sheen. ;)

(FTR: My view is that Jason is a tremendous talent. With quads, he's going to be a power in the next cycle :)).

Kori, stop trying to kill me before the Olympics even start.

Um why would this kill you?

It sounds like Coach Kori being her usual inspiring self! I thought it was quite nice. I love her attitude! (Well I just love her in general).

Actually Jason's hair has a TON Of body/thickeness, it's only because he uses a ton of products to make it the curly more manageable.

Totally shallow thing but I like the hair color. I'm sure it's his natural hair color but I like that deep brown color.

Hi, Mrs. P. :) I think karne and you both love the inspiring Kori.
I think karne meant "killing me" in a good way. Hypothetical scenario: I attend a wedding of a bride and groom who have written their own vows -- which are so profound, so sweet, and so touching that they are making me cry. As I fumble in my handbag for a tissue, I might whisper to a fellow guest, "This couple is just killing me." :)

That's what I thought too...but then karne posted the same tweet on FSU but with the note that it was giving her a heart attack. Just curious what prompted such a reaction.

Anyway, karne, I'll let you clarify. :)

All you have to do is adjust your search settings.

While it's true that none of Yuna's current videos have passed that of Jason's "Riverdance" LP, I must agree with Robeye that her most-viewed videos were taken down for one reason or another. I used to have a Figure Skating playlist on YouTube that I would update every time I watched a performance that I liked, and I can safely say that many of Yuna's were taken down judging by the number of annoying "This video is no longer available" that I saw when I revisited my playlist. In particular, I remember one of the 2009 WC videos had at least 2 million+ views.

But all that aside, many of other skaters' videos (with at least 100K+ views if not 1 million+) have been taken down as well--Yuna isn't the only "victim" of this. It got to the point where it was so annoying that I stopped updating the playlist and just ripped them directly off YouTube.

Anyway, I do hope that Jason continues to put out awesome performances that go viral. I have to admit that I didn't understand his charm until U.S. Nationals this year, and his "Riverdance" LP deserves all the current hype and more!
