Javier Fernandez

thanks xibsuarz once again and bartlebooth for translations !! its great to hear he is staying and found new confidence in himself, its gonna change everything for him for the good i think and i cant wait to see it!! :cheer:

ummm i dont think his SS is that great but he could be a Pair skater instead of ice dancer

He could be a pair skater, but he would have to pair up with someone much shorter than Sonia, I think. She's 1.63 and Javi is 1.75, I'm not sure if that difference in height is enough for The lifts and throws

Oh god after reading this article I imagined my reaction if Javi decided to stop his carrier after Worlds... But it's like Yuzu, I can't figure that
I hope he will manage to keep his shape until 2018...
But nooo please , he has too much talent as individual to turn into an ice dancer ;)

Javi seems like a strong guy, he can throw and lift her for sure. Look at Sui/Han, the height difference is not much and he can throw a quad twist.

You're right! Sui and Han are not that different in height and they get by really well, so it could work. And well, now that I remember, Javi carried Misha quite well at Worlds Gala Rehearsal :laugh2:

No, I wouldn't want to see Javi trying pairs or ice dance. Unless it's ice show "pairs" with Miki (w/o any difficult elements) which I would LOVE to see.

So Javi posted this picture on IG and it seems like the interview is already here! He's been going non-stop since Worlds, hopefully he will have time for some real rest soon.

He gets asked about the secret behind jumping a quad. Javi said that a good technique since young is the most important, the physical condition and work, work and more work! They asked him if a skater who jumps a quad is the one with the best chances of winning the gold medal, he says that he does, but at the same time, he doesn’t. He says that the quad is very important for the skaters and that without a quad or two you can’t win Worlds, or Euros, or the Olympic Games. But that you can’t win only based on quads because figure skating is a very complex sport and they need to work other aspects like choreography, being an actor, everything. Every little detail must be looked after.

The interviewers then chose 3 moments which they consider are the most important in Javier’s career, the first being, obviously, Worlds. They talk about how tough it must have been to beat a rival like Yuzuru, Javier says that Yuzuru is really a tough rival, a splendid skater who is very consistent in all his competitions. He says he knows Yuzuru will try to defeat him in the next few years so he needs to train really hard because he’s such a strong skater.

The 2nd moment is when he won his 3rd European Title (although the picture is of his 1st Title XD), and the last picture portrays a 6 y/o Javi with his sister Laura. They broadcast an interview with her to tell them how Javier started. Laura said that Javi started skating because she decided to skate at 6 and Javier (3 y/o) went to see her at trainings and competitions. She said he hardly needed any advice, that he was just like “What do I need to do? This? Ok, hold on” and did it. She remembers a time when Javi was little and they asked him the typical question “What do you dream of?” and he said “I want to be a World Champion."

The interviewers asked Javier the importance of his sister in his career. He said that his sister and his parents are one of the most important things in his life, and the support he has always received from them. He started skating because of his sister and he thinks that, without her, he would not be in the place where he finds himself right now. He said that part of his gold medal belongs to Laura and his parents.

Other Spanish athletes that have become World Champions in their disciplines sent messages to congratulate him. Iniesta (Football player in Spain’s National team) said he wishes Javi to keep having that brilliance in what he does; and Marc Marquez (MotoGP World Champion), told him he knows how good it feels to win a World Title, he wants Javier to enjoy and hopes that this is only the first since he’s still young and this has just begun (I guess he’s not very familiar with the competitive life span of figure skaters). Javier was really surprised with those messages.

They asked him what his next goal is now that he’s won Euros and Worlds, Javi said that the Olympics in 3 years, that is the event he’s aiming towards. He’s going to work to get that medal that slipped away or the Olympic Gold.

well after seeing Miki latest photos at Prince Ice World I have the feeling it's not easy for Javi to throw Miki at all so they should do some SBS jump like 4S lol

I'm not sure what you're trying to imply here, but if it's that Miki looks heavy, I don't see it at all. Anyway...have you not seen Javi's arms lately? He looks at least as strong as Brian Joubert.

So one of Javier's dreams was to do the honorary kick off at a Real Madrid match, and he's doing it tomorrow (or today depending on the TZ) against Almeria (and that's how I suddenly took interest in soccer :laugh2:)

Well from Miki's latest photo... of course Javi is a strong man he can definitely lift her off ice, it's just on ice seems to be less reliable. :confused2: but I think it would be cooler for them to do SBS jump as they're powerful jumpers.

Javi looks tiny beside the goal keeper lol.
