Javier Fernandez

Javi did two numbers for Fantasy on Ice kobe.
He is just classy during performing.
Javi has this spanish swag with the way he performs plus he is so flirty. ( I am not complaining.)
Prometo is the emotional piece and the other one was a comic matador number. The programme for sale in Kobe was not updated.
So I have no idea of the of the title of songs played.
They introduced Javi first as 2x world champion. Then for the second performace he is Pyeongchang bronze medalist.
It was great seeing him before his semi-retirement. There is no way I can see him live in Euro Championships.
Thank you for coming to Japan Javi.

Is Javi only planning to stick around for one more season competing at Euros?

I ask because, if he wins the next *two*, he could tie the record for the most consecutive titles with Karl Schafer.

from what I heard, his initial plan was to do one more and decide after that. (Implying he might try doing another if he wins).
But some recent sources have been saying that he said he wants to do only 1 more Europeans and go into it without the pressure of winning. It seems that he's changing his mind a lot still and not sure where to go. He also said he wouldn't do Japan Open to his fan group, but now it's been confirmed that he'll do Japan Open 2018

Javi's solos from Kobe: Torero/Bullfighter and Prometo. Torero is mostly from Carmen with the first minute being sth else. I love the way he starts Prometo gliding into the spotlight totally in character

IIRC, his reason in early April (as reported from the fan meeting in Osaka) for not going to JO was having to empty his apartment in Toronto, right? Then Sandra Bezic said that he did that already right before CSOI began in late april - which kind of makes sense, doesn't it? Why pay for a flat where he is not going to return to? That change of plans also probably freed time in his late summer/early fall schedule. Plus he seems to be definitely intent on earning every cent available from doing shows - just waiting for him to appear in the cast lists for the Russian tours.

I do think that the JO news is kind of good for his possible plans to compete 2018-9 season. He would need a new style FS for that competition and preparation for it would probably already give him a better idea whether he actually wants to go on or not. The ISU rule changes also mean that if he is able to maintain his (4-)5 quads/competition, he is still competetive among the top tier skaters.

He is not the only person in the history of figure skating to go back and forth with what to do. Just to mention one instance: Jeffrey Buttle got both competition programs ready for the 2008-9 season and then retired without ever competing with them. It's a life-changing decision to make and so does not come easily.

Yes, I remembered when Shoma was so upset sitting in the Kiss & Cry area after his free skate, it seems that both Javi and Yuzu in the green room were about to cry with him :sad21:; Javi wanted to speak to Shoma afterwards but did not get a chance; I guess he finally got to do so at the bequest.

Hello! I've been lurking on this forum for a while now without commenting, but I've been looking back and found this super interesting - when did Javi mention that he'd wanted to talk to Shoma? I find that so unbelievably sweet of him ;_; he and Yuzu looked about as heartbroken as Shoma did. If anyone knows where/when he mentioned it, I'd love to know!

Cannot even remember which competition that was? I can give evergreen a heads-up...

But today Heroes & Future was broadcast in Japan - only a super local station which means that all the stuff will probably not appear. Not much on Javi so far, but this moment from the end of the show has been posted.

And then they showed a shorter version of the Kobe FaOI with interviews etc. There is a minute or so of Javi in this cut of all the backstage stuff.

If that was not enough already, then there was a new episode of honoo-no taiiku-kai tv with Javi making a little girl's wish come true. The entire show is there, but Javi section starts around 49 min. It is absolutely hilarious even if you don't understand Japanese (which I don't). About 20 minutes long also! If someone wants to translate the relevant bits - like what he says in the beginning when he gets asked some proper questions and then what the little girl says about meeting him (she CRIES like a waterfall!) - I'd be most happy.

Not much from Niigata, but the annual FaOI football video has appeared - playing with Plushenko and recorded by Ari Zakarian - we thank him for this. It would have been terrible if there had been no footie video this year!

This post says that the girl said: Javi is a really kind person https://twitter.com/tegomass/status/1010506719183671296
And there's a whole thread with Javi-highlights from the show. https://twitter.com/tegomass/status/1010501644876857346
Javi is sooo sweet with the kids :luv17:

I'm pretty sure the post is referring to Worlds 2016. I remember Shoma almost crying in the K&C like it was yesterday...

Thanks for the threads with the translations! Hopefully a better version of the segment emerges into cyberspace...

The first costume made me wonder why no one involved in the girl's training group went to alert the rink security or call the police about a weird guy wanting to take photos with a little girl... She was also ignoring him very efficiently before he showed the camera. 😂 Also, he clearly wore like pro grade skates and no one paid any attention just because he did not seem otherwise too good at skating - well, until the Russian splits. It is funny how people see what they see...

My fave moment was when the girl started to cry and he was immediately right there next to her and yet managed to not go too near or sort of force himself upon her in a sensitive moment. 😍

Ah, 2016 worlds - evergreen was there and might have seen/heard things that were not visible in broadcasts...

Sorry this is off topic but did Shoma not perform well in 2016 worlds?
And Javi motivating his competition, this mind is kindness personified.
I guess David Wilson was not exagerating when he said Javi is just a beautiful person.

Well, it wasn't his best day. He took a pretty hard fall and was dissapointed and so he started crying. When the greem room was on camera before his scores you could see Javi and Yuzu were very sad too.
Shoma and Javi are not people you usually associate together but they get along well and Javi's personality is just wonderful, as you said.

Is there no full version of Javi on that show with kids? The link above seems to be expired.
If not, I was considering downloading it from fuji tv and uploading just the Javi section on Google Drive or something, it's super sweet, I don't want to lose it ^_^

There is another one in YT that works for the time being. I basically dl everything I possibly can just in case links and channels etc. disappear... But the versions posted online are pretty poor quality - if you have access to something better, I would love to get to see it!

And happy to hear Niigata will be shown on TV - I hope that Javi's performances are included and also posted online...
