The last practice before the SP all good. Some problems with both 4S and the quad combo, but nothing out if the ordinary. The successful combo was ok rather than good, but the 2 good 4S were gorgeous. 3As to die for. RT without hitches.

Now the long wait before the last group is slowly getting to its end. Tureis is approaching a state of near catatonic nervousness, evergreen and I are feigning coolness. The butterfiles in my stomach are luckily not visible...

Onnea kisaan, Javi! Buena suerte! In bocca a lupo! And good luck!

Why does he have to be last??? This is killing.......

Fortunately Javi is not the last to skate at the freeskate, he is lucky to skate just before Kolyada... An excellent performance from Javi will rattle Kolyada, LOL. Samarin has rarely skated both sp and fs well, I think the he might go down and Kovtun may go up.

It is good that the freeskate is on Saturday, so Javi has a bit time to cool down and concentrate on being in a competition.

Drag them, Javi! :dev2:

If the judges somehow screw him out of this win I will scream. :furious:

This is his title! Show them, Javi! You got this! :hap10:

From previous experience, it is the eastern judges who like Javi, the westerners have tended to low ball him. Like the Finnish judge yesterday, Pernilla Böhling. She gave him basically the same PCS as for Samarin which is ridiculous. I am thinking of changing nationalities. The Russian judge irina medvedeva gave him the highest score and GOEs...

No show in the morning practice, but so were a couple of others. We skipped the RD for some sightseeing in the freezing cold wind. Heading back to the evening practice soon.

Yeah, I didn´t expect him to win the SP but his performance deserved a better score. That said, I do not like him complaining about the judges in the press conference, not cool.

Tomorrow can be a great day!! Vamos Javi!!

Afternoon practice went well, second in the RT order so did warm-up and most of jumps before RT. Fell the first quad attempt, but the rest was fine. Great Axels (oh why not last night?). In the RT, both quads ok, skipped the 3A combo, did the whole 2nd jump sequence with brill 3F combo, axel and loop, messed up 3S. Particularly the 3F-Eu-3S combo looked better than the rest of the week.

We have come to the conclusion that he should have not said that he has trained only 3 weeks because that clearly affects the way people watch him. I have said it alreasy siöo many times that if I did not know he has trained only 3 weeks I would not be able to tell from what he does in practices or even at the competition. It is hard to believe that he can do such a thing and basically be at top level!

The only other time I have seen him grumble about his results was in Shanghai 2015 when his perfect SP did not get a deserved SB. That was a more diplomatic complaints than last night, but justified. As he said in the LaLiga interview, he pretty much knows when he has done good or when he's been bad, and if a good performance does not get a good score, he is not happy. Now he is also in a position to not care about the consequences... Hope the panels won't kill him tomorrow.

Honestly being open about his feelings on his final stage is fine with me.
I am not sure how much backlash it might create. But he will never have another opportunity to say it out loud next time.
So I think he is making good use of time not just for him but to others as well.
I think it was very brave of him and I wish him the best for Free skate.

Last practice for FS at the main rink. Looking good, sharp, focused, hungry enough to eat the world. Beautiful quads, axels etc. A cute buddy pic with Kevin Aymoz at the end of the session Brian, Silvia and John were standing next to each other and they also chatted a long time yesterday during the afternoon practice.

We just hope him a skate that will leave him happy and satisfied with what he did. All the luck in the world to that last ever FS!!!

Oh, I did not know she is a Finn, that was shameful!!!

What a way to end a career! Javi, you glorious, glorious man, you will be missed greatly!

FELICIDADES JAVIER! Oh Gosh, my mom and I were a mess during the ceremony, he holds a very special place in our hearts. He's the one who got her into figure skating and he is one of my all time faves. What a highlight to end such a competitive career (time for another book! lol), thank you so much for everything Javi, have fun at the Gala and all the best for you future endeavors.
