Be surprised if Russia sends both these dance teams. Even if Russia saves Shevchenko & Eremenko, Ushakova & Nekrasov, and Khudaiberdieva & Nazarov for the next 6 events, there are still three higher-ranked teams from Russian Junior Nationals on the sub list. Plus Konkina & Vakhnov. My guess is that these two listed teams are just placeholders. Maybe one of them stays on the list, but two seems very unlikely.

Pooja Kalyan is 15. The link to her fanfest is here: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?71761-Pooja-Kalyan.

-Pooja won bronze at the 2017 U.S. Novice Nationals. (Ahead of Alysa Liu).
-And she won silver at the 2018 U.S. Junior Nationals. (Ahead of Ting Cui).
-She also won bronze in her international assignment following last year's Nationals at the 2018 Bavarian Open.

She earned the 2nd highest score at U.S. Nationals among the ladies who competed on the junior scene last season. (Behind Starr Andrews who competed with senior programs and no one else. Ahead of Cui, Nguyen, Ma, Le, Chan, McIsaac, etc). However Pooja hadn't competed internationally last season due to a slower start with her summer performances & the limited U.S. ladies spots on the JGP. Because she didn't have the junior world minimums, she was selected for the Bavarian Open to gain international experience but Ting Cui & Emmy Ma got the spots at Junior Worlds.

I've seen Pooja skate live twice, both at the 2017 and 2018 Nationals. Based on mostly those two performances but also her finish at the Bavarian Open and the Broodmoor, I'd say she's the type to outplace predictions. She doesn't have the huge elements of some of her peers or get all clean calls; but she gets the job done under pressure in both portions of competition. Tends to avoid the big mistakes.

Her results at the Bavarian Open are here:
https://www.bev-eissport.de/eiskunstlauf/BO2018/CAT006RS.HTM

She finished behind the two Japanese girls there and ahead of Selma Ihr. I have no huge expectations for Pooja, but she's earned this spot on the JGP through consistent solid performances. Glad to see her getting the opportunity.

Pretty open, but not as open as yesterday.

Khudaberdieva & Nazarov's PB is 133.85, and that performance included a completely missed element. Still, though, this is likely to be the widest open field we will see in dance on the JGP.

GROPMAN / SOMERVILLE won the Junior Ice Dance Championship at Lake Placid this summer with a score of 149.06. While it wasn't the International competition, the event was still judged by a panel of international judges.

The scoring system has changed this season. I think it's nice that Alex's list gives us an idea of where the teams stacked up as of last season.

By that same token, Fabbri and Ayer's score obviously can't quite be compared with the others since it's under the new system, but since they're a new team there's really nothing else to go by.
