I can't stand the music Joannie chose to skate to this season. Hendrix just does not suit figure skating. I liked her program last season. There is nothing beautiful or graceful about this program. I don't think it will fare well at the top level competitions. Joannie needs to find something better.

I'd prefer to hear Hendrix than some slow and fluffy music that gets done to death every year. Women skaters shouldn't always have to portray themselves as fragile little objects that can break. I commend anyone who tries to step out of the box and try something different.

If we're going to talk about Joannie's SPs, I prefer the one she had in 05 to Dumsky Trio (aka Michelle Kwan's LP 2001). It suited her to a T. The one she had last year (which was so forgettable I had to look it up) to Muzak Material Girl was...oh wow...

I agree, it's interesting, it's CHALLENGING, which I get the sense is what Joannie wants to do for her own future benefit... and I also think it happens to be her best one (and I LOVE the Dumky trio music, but it did not make a particularly good SP for her IMO).

And it's very sexy too! Especially with the pink dress!

I love her Hendrix piece. I think it works brilliantly for skating. Infinitely better than the shudder-inducing elevator-Madonna from last year.

I also loved it. Much more interesting than any of her previous shorts of recent years. I agree with mike79. I too like it when skaters try something different and that women don't have to set themselves up as fragile little flowers.

I completly agree. Women's skating needs to be more diverse in styles instead of everyone doing the same basic thing over and over. This program really works for Joannie. She looks like an athlete unlike many other female skaters. I'm glad she's exparamenting with programs and style. Maybe it will diffuse into women's skating as a whole

Sorry folks, not a Hendrix fan here period even though I am from that era musically speaking; Maybe the music is too difficult for Joannie at least at this stage. I just didn't find her choreography interesting and the program kind of lack lustre. It's kind of jarring. Oh well....
