Fans of Johnny will again see him in weird makeup but this time more like ghoulish than mascared pirate.

I saw the musical some years ago and it is not for the squeamish. Sweeney Todd is a villain of the worst kind and his cohort is incorrigible baking all those meat pies.

The music and lyrics are opera-like.

DO NOT BRING THE KIDDIES.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are an amazing combo, and that is why I will be skipping yet another one of their collaborations... they just do freaky spooky disgusting too well LOL

his character's voice channels that of Jack Sparrow's... I think Jack is really just too much a part of Johnny anymore and he can't sound any other way... he better be careful ;)

Even though I don't like gory, I can't wait to see this. Johnny will be great, and I can't wait to hear him sing.

He had a British accent similar to Captain Jack before the Pirates movies. He's done so many accents, I'm not worried about his reperatoire.

I get that he had the accent before... it just... I dunno...

at least it's not the Willy Wonka voice  (I did see that one, fre-aky)

Johnny did J.M.Barrie (Peter Pan) with a British accent and he was not at all weird. He meets the challenge of acting as does Meryl Streep. Few do.

This role, if done well, will earn him another Academy Award Nomination so we may see him on the Red Carpet.

BTW, Johnny is married and with two children and lives in the South of France- way from all the Hollywood crowd.

He had a Scottish accent in Finding Neverland, which he did superbly.

I would love him to get another Oscar nomination. Even though it's political crap, he still deserves it more than most who get nominated.

The Chocolate Factory voice was definitely strange.

Tim Burton + Johnny Depp + Helen Bohnam Carter + Sacha Baron Cohen = Brilliance

I do agree though...from viewing the pilots his Sweeny Todd accent sounds too much like Jack Sparrow... Although, I'm sure the acting, art visuals, costumes, etc will be wonderful.... I'm excited to see this horror musical!

I'm not saying he's a bad actor... and I'm not saying he can't do other voices/characters...

I just find Sweeny Todd to be a bit familiar in certain respects, and as pointed out by another poster he even has a bit of Jack Sparrow when he talks in interviews.

Nothing wrong with it, I adore Johnny, I respect him for his work and as a person. (he has the guts to stand by what he says, something very few hollywoods stars have)

As much as I love him as Jack Sparrow, I find his take on Barrie was just a tad better... I just like the softer side of him I guess ;)

but I'm always ready to set sail with Capt. Sparrow
