Joshua Farris

Does anyone else think that Josh might use his "Give Me Love" SP for another season? He's really only gotten good mileage with it for the latter half of the season, and I'd love to see how it could grow and solidify over another season. A new LP, of course, but that SP just doesn't get old...

Hmmm. After NHK I assumed this would be the case. But while it has had little mileage, it has also had some seriously fabulous outings. I think the answer should depend on Worlds. If he can deliver a perfectly clean SP at Worlds, then it should be retired. If he can't, then maybe keep it again. At some point, the quality of the outings need to be weighed against the number. Just as Kori, Rohene and Jason decided that Riverdance's time was over because he could not top that Nationals performance, Josh might well find himself having to retire it because there's no chance of topping it. Who knows?

I find myself very sad that we're approaching the last outing of Schindler's List, though. Even though I want him to have a delightful new LP, the magic of this one will always stay with me.

Agreed. If he skates it clean at Worlds with a 4T, there's really nothing more to be done with that program. If not, I can understand keeping it another year if he's comfortable with it. (Though honestly, the 4CC version is enough for me. From a personal standpoint I'd like to see more new things. :))

Yes. Just for a show program. I really don't like the one he has now. It's like he put it together the last minute.

Actually, When I Was Your Man has been his ex for over a year now.

I do not want to see him skate to Take Me To Church. Whiny, mopey, horribly depressing song with terrible lyrics. He really needs to get away from the slow emo songs or he'll risk being typecast for the rest of his career.

Well..... Ed Sheeran did do a cover of it  (I don't like the song for skating too much, but I do think Ed's cover of it is 10x better than the original :p And I'm not even a fan of his..)

eta: I hadn't realized before posting that the comments section for that video was such a huge war zone of comments arguing which version is 'better' It is a lot different from the original & I just so happen to prefer this version. Tastes vary.... Not meaning to start a pro-Sheeran argument here

I feel like the people here are on a party of their own. I'm constantly posting here because i love joshua he is my most favorite by far. But I feel like nobody cares. I think ill go back to my lurker self now and just wish Josh the best to come. Thanks!

I wonder: would that old INXS song "Never Tear Us Apart" work for his style? The pauses, stops and starts and the swelling crescendo might be a good dramatic showcase for him, and it's not a long funeral dirge with only one tempo. He could land the jumps in that sweet spot during the silences before the guitar licks kick in again. Perhaps the cover by Paloma Faith could work well for him as a SP (cut out 30 seconds and it'll fit the time requirement): http://youtu.be/dCYtesyE7OA

If not, then something fun for his SP for next year. Suggestions?

The quad could really be a deciding factor I guess. He really wants to go for it, and I'm sure he wants to go for the quad in the SP regularly next season (as it was planed this season already). If he doesn't hit the quad at worlds, he might want to focus on incorporating it into a program he's already comfortable with instead of going for a new SP + getting the 4T in.
Also, if you look at Hanyu and Chan, keeping JButt SPs for a second season seems to be the 'it' thing

Something upbeat in the style of "The Walker" would definitely rock. I'd have nothing against music, that... eeeerrmmm... plays to his attractiveness either

Huh?? Can't imagine what you mean by "nobody cares"??

Everyone in this thread cares about Josh, and everyone is happy to see everyone else's interest in him, including yours.

I have come late to the party for Josh, but I would love to see him use that elegance and those skills for an upbeat, happy skate.

Since he likes Bruno Mars, how about Uptown Funk? Choreo by Rohene Ward? *That* I would save to my drive.

In honor of Leonard Nimoy, here is my nomination. Might not be everyone's idea of upbeat and happy but it certainly is to me! May not be fast, but it is happy. And actually think it could be skated to very well.

I'd love to see him do something jazzy for the LP... Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and I'm always a sucker for a good Sinatra program. I just hope he chooses something a little more upbeat. I adore his programs this year, but I agree that he probably shouldn't pigeon-hole himself as solely a 'sensitive emo ballad' skater. We know he can do more! That SOI number was fabulous on him!
