This title practically has his name on it, they might as well engrave the medal with his name on it now. Between his fantastic form and the fact that no one is going to be there that can even come close to challenging him, the gold is his for the taking.

PS with Lambiel's withdrawl, the podoum is wide open, just about anyone can stand on the podium with Brian.

VDP had a decent pair of performances during the Grand Prix. I believe he placed around 4-6 in his two events but his scores there would probably put him on the podium here at Europeans considering how weak this field is, sadly.
Joubert is ready to win Europeans. He doesn't need to land a quad, anything. There's just no competition. It's such a change from the great mens Europeans we've seen in recent years.
But I'd love to see Ponsero do well because he is so talented and flexible, and also Othman who also is beautifully precise and artistic on the ice.

Totally agree. Joubert is in Evgeni's place this year at Euros. No need to attempt something which is not needed but it could be done for practice. Let's see what he does.
I too, am looking forward to seeing Ponsero and Othman. I like stylish skaters, and I hope Zelenko gets marks he deserves.

If Plushenko does not come back and Lambiel retires, Joubert will be a force to be reckon with in 2010. Right now know ones even come close to Joubert besides Lambiel and possibly Buttle. The Japanese Men Oda and Takahashi are pretty much right now the threat for the world titile but we have yet to see Jeffrey Buttle internationally

Oda is quadless and lacks energy in his LP from my observations. Both these problems are correctable, if not this year, certainly in Vancouver. Takehashi is much too eager in his skating. He needs to pace himself. This is hard to do if he is hyper.
Buttle is always promising and this year it's let's have a look. I doubt he will be in 4CC so it's Canadian Nats to have a look. I hope there are good reports and a youtube to watch later.
Lambiel has always been a cool skater. Not into the showy scenes. Not a hottie, not into posing. Very quiet. But we wont see him at Euros and I strongly suspect,not at Worlds, either.
We'll get a look at the two top Americans soon. Meantime, it's time to take a look at Joubert at Euros. While there is no obvious competition for him, I still want to look at the choreography, the flow, the correct landings on his jumps, and the spins - all with improvements. He lands quads so I am not anxious to see that except in Vancouver.

I believe that Brian will be making bad mistake if he says, well, I don't have any competition so I won't worry about the quads. He has to develop the mind set that he is going to do his three quad program every time out and not worry about who is there to challenge him and who isn't.
Plushenko at his height did his 4/3/2 combination even in cheesefests. Why? Because he was Plushenko!

Yes, Brian should avoid over confidence, but if not, he will still win.
Plush, I would say by consensus of this forum was not at his best in Torino. Many posters and I agree just said he was lifeless. He won anyway and deserved to. His exhibition was super.

I don't see any reason for Brian to scale back any of his jumps at Europeans. He didn't for french nationals, a weaker field thanm Europeans, so why on earth would he not do the quads at Europeans.

If he went out and did a bunch of doubles he wouldn't win
I agree that its his title to lose. I expect him to attempt at least two if not three quads though.

I also couldn't imagine him not winning Europeans with Stephane Lambiel pulling out of the Europeans definately Joubert should win his second European title, I can't wait to see the Euros this year.
I hope that Viktoria Pavuk of Hungary pulls up to her record 4th place that she did back in 2004 as she's a wonderful skater. I haven't really seen much of Pavuk doing anything major on the senior seen at all the way she did at the Junior Level.
