Kaetlyn Osmond

:o:

thank you so much Tutto for the praise, but as I said many times - all real credits go to inspiring skaters like Kaetlyn and inspiring users whose knowledge, enthusiasm and insightfulness are one of a kind, which goes to you Tutto as well:):ghug:

and Buianova is right - Kaetlyn's powerfulness is very impactful and easy to feel out, even seeing her only in TV

Agreed and this is in part why the judges seem to love Kaetlyn

Many thanks Tutto for thinking of me with the article. much appreciated!

I was sitting between the Weapos and Jeff Buttle in Halifax 2 years back, when Kaetlyn did a Lutz in our corner during comp. Our collective mouths were like :jaw: :jaw::jaw: I agree with NonNameFace re powerful, and might also add that when you see them live, TV does not do her jumps justice.

Oh lookie lookie, I ended up in this fan fest too after checking out Chiddy's again.

These threads are pretty fun, I need to come in here more often. I thoroughly enjoy the lack of having to defend our favourites, as we do in all the other areas of the forum. Quite honestly, I still feel the mental fatigue from all the defending of Kaetlyn (and Gabby, and Alaine) that I had to do last season.

dear Sarah, first of all - hope you're doing well:ghug:

well, I often admire your or other Canadian/US/other nationality users' strength and patience to defend skaters being close to your heart. What is always painful to see for me is unjustified critic, pure, obnoxious hate poured out of someone, double standards regarding skaters' comparisons made (especially considering judging) or 'casual omissions' of obvious facts/qualities that 'threaten' someone else's favourite skater. About 4-5 years ago I was an uber in full swing there - ready to fight with anyone for anything I believed in, but then after Sochi something shifted in me and I started to appreciate differences instead of fighting with them. I realized that most of arguments, disagreements, hateful comments not even on skaters, but mostly on users here, are taken from our personal perceptions, not from skaters themselves, so I stopped to put personal filters onto skaters and just let them be and to amaze me anytime. By doing such thing I think that they defend themselves a lot better and more powerful that us battling between ourselves there.

Being here almost 5 years helped me to understand that it is never too late to stop judging and start to appreciate something good when you see it. I think that Kaetlyn and Gabby's last season defended them in more ways than one, in eyes of more people than expected. I just hope that their confidence and strength will only inspire people to appreciate, not only to judge because your favourite is someone else

:)

Welcome to one of my FAVS. You are always welcome here Sarah, and you don't need a hockey helmet or an armor suit like in some Threads, to be here. Please visit us and Post, often! ;)

I am the fighting type when it comes to me defending others, as you are likely aware NoNameFace, and have the war wounds to prove it. I like the underdog and have never been prouder of my defensive wounds, than this past year, given their achievements.

But I do like your Zen, NoNameFace, and hope that I can practice more the need to restrain (no guarantees), and let these athletes prove others wrong where it counts - on the ICE. ;)

Yay! Thanks for the warm welcome, friends! :cheer:

And yes, those world medals speak for themselves. Along with Gabbys 4CC medal and Kaetlyn's success on the GP.

There will always be haters, I bet there were some snide remarks when Satoko's SP was debuted last week... now for Kaetlyn's FS :D

^^ I remember the new female co-host on TSL calling Kaetlyn's SP debut from last season "a cheesecake factory". After Worlds, the same host said she had predicted Kaetlyn's podium. Huh? Pleazzze :rolleye:

It is a strong program.. very strong elements, speed, personality. She skates so big!!

I have always strongly disliked this song, but her skating is fabulous and this program will just keep getting better. Now for the free...

oh please... the haters have started already... 3 dislikes on this video... come on.... seriously? it's a gorgeous program.

Does clicking on a dislike icon make one a hater?:scratch2: Really? The comments are disabled for that video, at least they are now. Maybe someone wanted to leave a more nuanced comment but couldn't.

I'm just speculating; I've never clicked a dislike icon in my life. If you really want to see haters, look up the comments on Ashley's programs sometime.

I love Kaetlyn's skating, and I love the song; but this rendition is a little whiny for me. I fully expect Kaetlyn to wow me as the season goes on; I may eventually forget to hear the tone of voice. She looks great for early days.
