Are her parents there in Beijing to help her emotionally deal with this controversy the best way possible? She is a minor at 15 some even consider her still a child. I would think she needs her parents whether she gets into the ladies competition or not.

We've learned a lot in recent years about the massive emotional strain female athletes are under last year at the summer Olympics with Simone Biles there was a lot of empathy for her position. I agreed with that. It's a new world and we all have to adjust to the mental struggles of even the most successful people. I am concerned for this girl that she does not have the proper counseling or love in place.

I don't understand why they haven't made a decision already one way or the other. She's 15 don't let her twist in the wind even if there are a lot of angles to this failed drug test that needs to be reviewed by the authorities. Either let her skate in the ladies event or send her home. But don't let her practice every day thinking she's going to skate in the ladies competition because when they pull the rug from out under her feet it's going to only do more emotional damage to this 15 year old girl.

I meant why it's being stressed out in the clarifications, as in what is the importance of that information
for the investigation that was then still unknown to us.

Generally speaking the national doping agencies are responsible for national events and most out of competition tests. WADA is responsible for internationtal events and ITA is responsible for the testing at the olympics. If there is a positive test the athletes gets preliminary suspended until the second sample is analyzed. Responsible for the suspensions are the organisations who took the test and at least in the beginning they decide what to do.

With the appeal at the CAS the ITA/IOC try to reinstate the suspension. I think that's just the legal way to go.

So i guess the results of the second sample didn't come out yet?
If it takes 6 weeks again and results come negative while Valieva got suspended (and din't compete), i don't imagine the uproar in Russia.

The timeline was established by ITA… she was tested on Christmas Day. Her sample was sent out to Sweden for testing since Russia cannot test their own samples anymore. Sending it to another country is what caused the delay.

The first sample took so long due to a covid outbreak at the lab so it normally would not take 6 weeks. hopefully the international agencies involved push for an expedited test of the second sample.

Are you suggesting a journalist, especially one whos main occupation is this kind of stuff, shouldn't be
working to shed more light on something as big as this? Sometimes without media pressure
these things can disappear.

what if it ends up turning out that there was doping in that school? it's not an assumption that would
be beyond reasonable doubt considering relevant history and current results, wouldn't you rather
save the girls from going through that?

I honestly think every country should send their samples out of the country, too much incentive for shady things to be done.

Or perhaps it is because a minor from a corrupt country when it comes to anti-doping, just happened to test positive for a banned substance? I think people should stop pinning the blame on the media or Kamila, and focus more on the adults at Sambo-70.

I would really like not to get into the field of countries (aka politics), because that's what makes the discussion so apssionate.

I would also like to avoid any "judge lynch" rhetoric whether it comes to skaters or others. That's why the legal procedures exist.

I think it was because she tested negative after both of those events and just took the cold pill one day. It's a really sad story and afterward sudafed wasn't even banned anymore. I think they wanted to give her a lighter punishment because of her age and the circumstances (she was sick, she took a sudafed). Clearly it was the fault of the doctor.

plastering Kamilas face everywhere for clickbait isn't changing. I wonder if these harassment are different if it was someone say sky Brown from uk or us. Kamila is getting lesser slander in western press than the previous only because of age.
