Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

I'm not spiritual whatsoever but to whatever higher powers there are, give this girl strength.
To all the vultures on here, can you even IMAGINE with what kind of a mental state Kamila is going into this event?
She has no freaking advantage anymore, even if she was given some substance to let her train 1h longer before December, this whole spectacle has put her at an enormous mental and I'm willing to bet successive physical disadvantage. While her competitors were preparing, she had to deal with this, up to the point of having to attend a court hearing during the night before her skate?! Lipnitskaya at 15yo broke under intense positive media attention back in Sochi. Kamila has had double that attention but the negative, verbal harassment, hatred from all over the world, kind.

If for some reason she manages to perform well and not crumble mentally, give her the damn Gold Medal just for that.
Very well said:clap:

Peolple’s emotions are running high but once again from a legal standpont the rationale behind the statement makes sense. It is not over: there was NO rationale on the merits of the case - i.e., the dopping issue. They simply rulled that the suspending her now considering everything (that she is clean in Beijing, that the results took too long and that she is unable to defens herself in time before the ladies event) is not appropiate. This means that they have too little information now to take sanction her at this point and an investigation is pending. Of course that allowing her to skate and then tale away her medal is the worst scenario, but what else can they do? They would not risk not allowing her to skate and then her proving to be innocent. This would be a disaster for all parties involved because she is still a gold medal favorite.
And I am writing this despite losing my interest in this discipline once the Eteri dominance started and is heartbroken for Liza not making the team, but I am trying to use logic and perspective on this.

As I read there will be an investigation and they will ask the girls, you'll be surprised by their answers. Russian culture is different from us on how you term abuse.

Not the best idea though, there are interviews with Nadia Comaneci as she was training and then
when she was older and those are two very different descriptions and states of mind of what she's been through
and how it effected her long term.

This ruling did not throw out the drug test.

She tested positive. That IS evidence.

You may have evidence that she isn't on any drugs THIS EXACT SECOND, but that is irrelevant to the question. The rules are not "you can dope.... just not during competitions.".
exactly calling her right now as doped nationally or even doped is wrong when there hasn't even been an investigation. Jumping to conclusions always fail look at how many thought the verdict was from CAS. STOP MAKING CONSPIRACIES, SOECULATIONS and ASSUMPTIONS

Tell this to the US fans of Ms. Biles who could not perform without strong drugs. Or fans of Norwegian "asthmatics"
Man you are desperate if that is all you can come up with. This ruling is crooked.

Someone taking a drug they got prior approval for that is often taken by people with ADHD at every age.

vs

A 15 year old taking a drug meant for elderly heart patient that she never got approval for.

No... you are right exactly the same.

I remain confused. I thought it was confirmed that she tested positive in December. If those results had been processed promptly, she wouldn't have been eligible to compete in the Olympics. Right? Or would this protected person rule, or some other loophole, spared her, anyway?
That's when I realize that people don't read. She did NOT know until 5 days ago that her December sample came back positive. Of course if I had known this before the Olympic Games, RUSADA and Russia in general would not have allowed her to attend this event.

Kamila deserves her Olympic moment, and the adults around her owe it to her to keep her protected from the media frenzy that is about to ensue. She is everything you could wish for in Women’s skating and we shouldn’t easily forget that. She would have dominated this sport regardless of coach, country or PEDs taken. I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt. I do think it is very possible that the drug ended up in her system without her knowledge. We all know the team have the girls taking ‘vitamins’, and I’m sure Eteri herself once mentioned administering these via an IV drip. That would suggest to me that they do as they are instructed to by their team doctor (banned once already for doping) and don’t question it. Following the Olympics, there should rightly be a full investigation into her team, especially the team doctor, and updated protocol on testing in the sport.

Who is claiming that she is doping now? Point them out please.

Once again. Whether she is doping now is not relevant to whether she should have been suspended. You are not allowed to ever dope, and she failed at that.

Investigate what exactly? She failed a drug test. Investigating doping is why those tests exist.

I think the issue is, you could find a legal rationale for the opposite decision as well, especially if you cite the harms that would be caused to the clean athletes who would have to compete against Kamila in the same competition. So that makes me think they believe there's a higher chance of her being proven innocent, or they're more fearful of the backlash for that case vs. the backlash that they're receiving now. Which, considering everything we know, is sad (and frankly rather horrifying) in a different way.

It’s almost like they’re saying because she’s already there and no alternate would be allowed to replace her just let her skate.

The adults that likely put her in this situation to begin with?

The path CAS took means nothing will happen. There will be no meaningful investigation. There will be more change.

More minors will be abused.
