Kamila Valieva | Page 26 | Golden Skate

Kamila Valieva

Two years ago Sasha Trusova also ended second with 229 so for her very first competition with seniors, Kamila did well.
Also she had to skate with the greatest pressure since she was the only one who could beat Sasha today.
I’m sure, she will make it next time and the final will be stellar with all the top superstars.
Apart the falls, the program is original, I like it. It’s so different from the sp.

Kamila didn't do bad at all, on this level of difficulty and abilities even two falls don't put the program down. The most costly was the missed combo, that cost her victory, but I guess she will do without such mistake next time.

As I said, I like the program and see big improvement in the interpretation of it.

Super interview with Kamila, fighting back tears yet still trying to analyze herself and give good and honest answers: https://www.1tv.ru/sport/kubok-ross...ciya-bolshe-ne-dopuskat-takih-nelepyh-oshibok

"Of course, you can't skate like that, A quadruple jump is a difficult jump, but a triple Lutz ....
I always my warm ups with a tripe Lutz, I can do one with my eyes closed, one might say.

Yes, for me, this is the beginning of the season and I am skating this program for the second time in front of an audience. It is unpleasant that in training both at my rink and here everything was fine, I skated clean. I think I just need to practice it a little more and worry less before the start ...

The program is set to the music of Ravel's Bolero. I've read how this piece of music was created. But I have a different image in this program - I represent the Snake, and if you look at my costume, you will understand everything yourself. And my movements and plasticity repeat the movements of a snake.

I have these programs this season: in the short I depict a bird, and in the free one I depict a snake. I find these interesting to perform choreographically ...

Of course, at these competitions I really wanted to skate to the maximum, but I realized for myself that I should worry less and just show and repeat what I do in training."

Regarding the competition itself, one shouldn't forget Kamila is still a junior, now competing in the seniors for the first time.
Given the pressure of expectations, she and Dar'ya held themselves up very well.

I only worry about possible injuries due to the bad falls, other than that I feel calm and happy for Kamila. This is the time for her to learn how to deal with pressures and develop strong mentality. Think about it: a 14 year old girl, with all eyes on her, winning all the junior titles, now entering the adult battle ground, competing with the strongest ladies in the world (or maybe in the history), with a big chance of winning.
Be strong and confident!

All true. But she still should have won today if she skated normally. Alot of pressure on Kamila todsy becasue she set the bar so high. But at nationl there will be massive pressure on Sasha Aliona and Anna.

And we know that free skates with quads is a risk and reward deal. Todays LP was risky and a few mistakes cost her. The same thing has happened to Sasha a few times. If Sasha hits her free skate she wins. Same for KV today but mistakes cost her. A great learning experience though. But this was a minor event not Rostelecom or rusnats. Kamila knows what she did wrong.

Lets be honest next season will be the big one for Kamila.

Injuries, growing pains, Kamila is going through puberty while training for some of the most demanding programs in figure skating, going after these bonus marks. This plasticity and stretch might come normal to her, but still require full concentration to get those high value entries and exits.

Having set backs is normal, but given the way she analyzed herself she knows what to do. She is hard on herself, but that's a characteristic of every top athlete.

Hopefully Kamila will recover sufficiently both physically and mentally for the next stage of Russian Cup.

Congratulations to Kamila on her senior debut!

I know she's disappointed, but silver when you have multiple falls means that you are capable of moving up. I don't expect perfection every single time she steps on the ice - even though she has a superb record in the last year+ of doing just that. I just want her to continue growing and learning

Hmmm, I saw a butterfly... 🥰
I thought so too at first, but snakes also come with this kind of decorations on their skin.
That's why snake leather shoes and handbags are so sought after in designer couture.

Personally, I thought the 'black mamba' image from Test Skates was superb, but perhaps the training staff thought it looked 'cheap', i.e. too much resembling the daily training gear?

Hopefully, there will be detailed analysis of all the new Khrustalniy costumes and routines soon by that expert blogger.
