Kanako Murakami

Some people wonder why it is Kanako to go to WTT instead of Rika. Just so we know, Kanako's current world standing is still higher than Rika and that is why. There will be fine and penalty if either of the top 2 of a country doesn't go. For Japan, the top 2 now is Satoko and Kanako.

The relevant document can be found here

Some quotes:
"in case that one or more of the best ranked Skaters/Couples (in the ISU World Standings valid after the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2015) of a Qualified ISU Member elects not to participate, the ISU reserves the right to exclude such team from the competition and to invite instead the Member/s whose team is ranked next in the ISU World Team Trophy qualification list. "

"Any Skater/Couple from a Qualified ISU Member, who placed within the first ten (10) places at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2015 and is ranked in the ISU World Standings among the best 2 Lady Single Skaters, best 2 Men Single Skaters, the best Pair Skating couple and the best Ice Dance couple of his/her/their respective Qualified ISU Member, if this Skater/Couple elects in advance of the ISU World Team Trophy not to participate in the ISU World Team Trophy (for whatever reason), he/she/they will not be permitted to participate in any other competitions, shows, and exhibitions from Monday noon (March 30, 2015) after the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2015, during the ISU World Team Trophy, and until April 20, 2015. In addition, depending on the circumstances, the concerned Skater/Couple and Members may be subject to sanctions in accordance with Rule 136, paragraph 6 of the General Regulations. "

Pre-WTT Kanako Murakami Interview

Please share by what you meant by taking on the difficult challenges at the WTT press conference.

I want to switch my 3T-3T in the short program to 3Lo-3T. I trained it quite a bit before Worlds. I’ll decide what to do after practices at WTT.

Best wishes for Kanako in WTT. Hope she enjoys herself at home!
I am wondering if there will be a triple-triple in her long program? Since I didn't see that in worlds and I am not sure about that.

If she wants to show a "complete" version of her layout at Worlds, it will most likely be:
3L
2A-3T
3F-2T
3L-2T-2L
3F
3S
2A

However, it's been a long time since she's landed a 2A-3T... I think (aside from the LP at Worlds) it's been planned at CoC and Challenge Cup in Hague, but she popped or doubled it every time. It seems Machiko Yamada's students have rather explosive 2As, and adding a 3T on the end is not so easy for them. If her 3L-3T is somewhat stable, perhaps she should just go for it. :)
I admit I miss a bit her LP layout with 3Lz. It's too bad she didn't start working on fixing it (or reducing the call to ! at least) back in 2010. :(

Anybody could help to translate this news regarding Kanako?

Asked about the Worlds in Shanghai and her future plan:

"I can say I did my best at the Worlds, thus no regret. I got home, was able to release myself from all tention and stress of the competition finally, then a slump has come..."
"I have made up my mind about my future. I will do what I have to do, to help our team with what I am capable of. I will cheer very hard for my fellow skaters, and will concentrate on my own performances as well."

I hope Kana will enjoy this teaam event on her home turf. Good luck to Kanako at WTT!!! :yay::party::cheer:

So Kanako, what is your decision about your future? Well, I think it is not difficult to guess...Wish her good luck in WTT and everything in the future.

I am so, so, so, so happy about this!! And I'm glad she decided to continue at a time when she was satisfied, and not sad/frustrated like after the last Japanese Nationals.

More lovely Kanako programs in the future!!! :D

Best news I've heard all day  I realized just how much I loved watching her skate after this season. I'm so glad she's continuing :o:
