There's one a few miles south of Macksville where my daughter taught before she became ill. Major damage in Greensburg and they are taking patients to Pratt. My grandson in law is a nurse in Pratt but don't think he is working tonight. I hope. Very upsetting news no matter who or where. I think it is missing Larned where my angel daughter lives.
Macksville has been hit! All I know now. No sleep tonight.

Holy Cow Grganny! I so hope you and your loved ones are safe.

If one comes can you get into your basement quickly?

We aren't near the tornado areas. It's about 120 miles west of here. Most tornadoes start from the south and go northeast. There are 2 types of warnings. First you hear of a watch that means you need to keep paying attention to see if the area is near you and then you get a warning and that is the serious one and you need to take cover. I have a good "fraidy hole" with 3 cement sides and a door in the basement. It's actually under my cement front porch. I think we're going to bed pretty soon but don't know if we can sleep.

Those sirens are pretty loud aren't they? Do you have one near by? If you have been woken by them before..?... I hope you can get some sleep if you feel they will wake you in time for taking cover.

Thoughts are with you now for sure. I feel like I am going to have a dream tonight like the movie Twister and Grgranny's face is on Helen Hunt as they are cased through the country side.

I'll be watching the news;) Take care!

Slept fairly well but they were worse than we figured. Devastating. Now, we will have to be watching because it is forecast that all our areas are in line for the same for at least 3 days. Time to fortify the fraidy hole with water, food, etc.
Had things set up pretty well when kids were home. Had a bunch of cots from camping and a rollaway bed and if we were in a watch, just went upstairs and got all the kids up and we all slept in the basement. Worked great.

Glad to hear you made it through the night OK, and it sounds like your love ones are accounted for as well. ???

Now that it is morning, and I didn't want to say this last night - I so hope this is preventative and just trying to make sure you are OK if you have to take cover down there - has someone checked for snakes in the Fraidy hole? I would just Hate for that to happen to you. I guess they can check when you are fortifying. In some ways I wish I could be there to help you out but in other ways I am glad I am not there. Please post after there are any tornadoes in central Kansas so we know you are OK.

Never been a snake in my basement. I am still here.
That side of the basement is partially - mostly- finished. No holes. Carpeted, etc. Sure appreciate the concern.

Grganny??? Are you there???? I have been hearing about floods out there now and I believe you said you live near a river. Also saw some clips on TV and a cute lady (age83) was on, was that you?

Anyhoo, hope you are doing OK and everyone in your family is too.

My computer has been (and still is) down. I'm surprised I got on here.
I'm fine. Closest river is at least a mile away. There is a creek across the street behind a house and never gets "up" here. Never floods here. The Arkansas river west of town is flooding. Does it a lot. Pronounced Ar kansas - not Arkansaw. We did have some watches but not warnings. Never had to go to the fraidy hole. Sorry, but I haven't been able to get on the internet. Doubtful this will go through but thought I would try.

Had my own weather problem yesterday. I needed to go get some medication for my daughter (did I tell you she is home for now?) It had started raining and it got much worse. On the way back, I couldn't see the yellow lines in the road and so I pulled off and waited a while. Seemed a really long time. When I started back and got to my intersections it was several feet under water. Had just seen someone else go through and I know the area so got through ok. It's even been on the news about how our community had this heavy rain. 4 inches in a half hour. Scary.

Sounds horrible. Glad you made it through it. It scared me to read it.

May the Golden Skate Guardian Angel continue to look over you.
