Kazuki Tomono

Another day, another disappointment with JSF 💩🤡

So, they announced their Asian Winter Games team already (why so early), and they included their 'special group' + Tatsuya as an alternate, not Kazuki. Again, I mean no shade towards Tatsuya, but Kazuki outranks him in every measure: Nationals placement, world ranking, PB score and BV. So why?

Once again this is a reminder of what we can expect for Kazuki in the competitive stage - extreme underscoring + no opportunities. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make it so that Kazuki won't even have GP assignments next season.

I must say, I know that Shun Sato is far from being a pet, quite the opposite (and judges still fail to acknowledge his huge progression in Components, but I must say that it's more recent than Kazuki Tomono's), but this passes belief.
At least, if I remember correctly and if rules haven't changed since 2019, if Kazuki Tomono qualifies for Grand Prix Final, he's certain of getting two Grand Prix assignments next year, and if he places between 7th and 12th at the Grand Prix in qualifying points AND matches a minimum best score there, he gets the two Grand Prix assignments too. I'm really not sure, so I think it would really need checking.

I feel your fury. No, there's no justification for their snubs, unless they intend to compensate by giving Kazuki a B event, and sending him as their third man to WC, where we all know he wouldn't be far from medals. I hope Kazuki places high enough this year to hold on to big assignments. Making the Nationals podium would be the best revenge.

😠 😡 I looked on Twitter (x)..a poster mentioned Shun and Yuma..are other boys going?
Yuma and Shun are the main team, and then Sota, Kao and... Tatsuya are the alternates. Once again, I mean no shade to Tatsuya, but the way JSF has been trying to put him over Kazuki defies facts and logic.

Apparently, they said that they asked skaters whether they wanted to participate, and then selected them based on 'criteria'. So, it's possible Kazuki decided not to participate, but it's also possible he wasn't selected because the criteria was just CS/regionals results. Which is completely insane, right? Who would choose a team for a big event based on a few small competitions in the early season... Unless you already had someone in mind, and then adjusted your criteria to fit the person :cautious:

I think it's 7-12 at Worlds? In any case, his only guarantee of getting two assignments next season is getting a high SB now at GP France or Finlandia Trophy, but then there's the underscoring... That's a lot of pressure.

That would be great but I daren't dream too much based in what they did to him last year 😭

Meanwhile, he keeps winning. He's going to appear on the next issue of a big cosmetic company's newsletter:

and he's also going to be appearing at next year's Nagoya Festival!

You're right, it's at Worlds! So, in theory he could be at the Grand Prix Final and medal at 4CC; and even medal at All-Japan Nationals, and still not been granted two GP assignments, at least in theory... Practically I don't think they would dare in such a case, but indeed it's a dement pressure. World Ranking Top 24 and Top 24 season's scores are only optional...
Trigger warning: potentially offensive photographs:

It's been announced that Hyoen will be broadcast on the cinema in December, so non-no reposted these cute pics:

Also, it seems that Kazuki Kushida tried Tomono curry:

Today it was announced that Kazuki (alongside with a few other skaters) WD from the Osaka Prefectural tournament. Since it's just a few days from GP France, it's understandable.

Fleur Bazaar IG post about the event they did with Kazuki in April 🥹

The event logo now feels very nostalgic.
It's a staff favorite.

I hope that Tomono and everyone who came to the event enjoyed it, and I hope that I was able to express this feeling in the logo. (It's hard to believe it was made by a big guy with a camera! (Laughs)

It's been a long time since Kazuki Tomono Sakai Ohanashi's event on 14 April, but we hope that those of you who couldn't attend due to the number of people who came could watch the digest version, and that those of you who came could also reminisce about such things that happened to you. I hope you will be able to remember these things!

The second and third pictures are scenes from the selection of glass bottles used in the workshop, which I forgot to include in the digest version.

Looking back at the video while editing it, there were scenes that made me laugh and memories of panicking when I made a mistake on a slide.
We were also remembering how happy we were to meet everyone.

I hope that one day we can hold a fun event in Sakai again.

The digest version will be broadcast in three parts starting on Monday the 28th.
This on the flower and lifestyle recipe channel!
Thank you for your support🙇

We are looking forward to the start of the Grand Prix Series, Round 3 in France, with a full support system and a lot of excitement!

This video is so sweet, let me embed it:

I really love his clumsiness and range of expressions whilst trying to do the flower arrangement. We can see he is a guy at the end of the day 😂 I also hadn't appreciated he got so close to the fans! Sooooo jealous 😭

Here's part 2!

When he banged the glass case on the table I was thinking "Jeez be careful!" Breaking the glass and cutting yourself would really hurt. Oh Kazuki. He did a good job though. Do you think he'll do more stuff like that after he retires?

Hey does anyone know the story behind this. I was looking at some older clips of Kazuki on Instagram last night and I saw a video of him in the greenroom during the Four Continents Championships 2020 with Keegan and they had this one guy upside-down tickling him. Well Keegan was but it looked like Kazuki was just teasing with his fingers. It was so funny! The look on Kazuki's face and the way he wiggled his fingers!

Nam was upside down.

Kazuki's Mainichi column has been updated, this time he talked about the music he listens to just before or after competition:

Daiichi Juken launched a really cool support campaign, in which those who book the INOVE Villa during nationals will get a portion of TOMONO CURRY and have a commemorative corner to take pictures (I'm assuming with Kazuki's autograph and picture). The villa is massive so it'd need to be a group booking!

Has anyone met Kazuki in person before? If so, what was it like? I imagine sometimes what it would be like to meet him if having the chance.
I also wonder about that. I guess I'll know after Finlandia - that is, if I go in the end (a family matter may yet prevent me from going, hopefully all turns out well), and if I get close enough to Kazuki during the SP training day to say something to him.

Regarding France, I'm tentatively optimistic that Kazuki is in a good position to medal here. Why not think big and predict him for silver? Apart from Fa, there are no skaters there the ISU will want to push to make sure they make GPF, and no higher-ranked team Japan skaters. Go, Kazuki! I trust him to make a strong point for himself, and beat Britschgi, Selevko and co.

But is there more to the story?
I think Nam is quite a fun guy and they were doing all sorts of shenanigans in the green room during that competition (4CC 2020) - there is another video of Kazuki and Tomoki Hiwatashi on Nam's lap? Something like that. Basically, just boys having fun - and we know Kazuki is quite happy to participate in this occasions 😄 That was actually one of the best Men competitions that I've ever watched - not only the vibes were great, but everyone brought their A-game 🔥

Speaking of competition, today is the first day of practice at GP France - hope Kazuki is feeling well and not too jet-lagged

Meanwhile, HD Flower posted the third and final digest video of their event in Sakai:

Cute clip of Kazuki's outfit 'transformation':

Finally, there's a new Sauna Bros article!
