Kazuki Tomono

Paoz is so talented 🛐
Hey, bring on the can-can for Kazuki! What a cool gala it would make ^ ^
Do we know if he's in Russia already? He should be, but are there any photos?

Kazuki!!! 😭

His first 90+ SP score EVER! 🙌
Congrats to him on his gold small medal!

Nevermind he'll be last to skate his FP (historically a position he has struggled in)
Sending him all the positive energy and support he needs to deliver his best!

News report on Kazuki's SP win: https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2021/11/26/0014871436.shtml

Kazuki Tomono starts at the top! He scored 95.81 points, his best SP score ever. The 7th best score in the world this season.

Kazuki Tomono (23) of Central Sports scored 95.81 points, his best ever, to take the lead. He landed the opening quadruple toe loop - triple toe loop combination, and landed a quadruple salchow and a triple axel which was the last jump in the program.

Tomono's personal best SP score was 88.22 points, which he made at last year's Four Continents Championships. It is also the 7th highest SP score in the world this season, and the 4th highest SP score in Japan's history.

In an interview, Tomono said, "I didn't have very good practice, and until just before, I had a negative outlook and was somewhat worried about my performance, but I was able to look at my anxiety objectively and calm down. At the end of the day, I felt confident because I had practiced a lot. I think my practice paid off in the competition." As for his personal best score, he said, "I felt that if I could do a better program in the future, I could hope to score close to 100 points. It was the personal best (this time) that shows potential." He seemed to have gained firm confidence.

OK, I feel calmer now ☺️

First I'd like to say that, regardless of what happens tomorrow, Kazuki should be really, really proud of himself. What he achieved today was no mean feat. He had been chasing a 90+ score in the SP for so long, he was denied it at 4CC 2020, and now he finally got it, winning the SP in a GP event to boot. Some skaters get these type of scores right off the bat, but for Kazuki it has been a long and rocky journey, and he got there due to his incredible tenacity and determination. Like in Italy, when he landed 3 quads in the free for the first time, today represented a huge milestone and another step forward for him.

Secondly, the protocol: https://twitter.com/Tomono_Infonet/status/1464230967912980489
Not only he landed all his jumps with positive GOE, but he also got level 4 in spins and steps 🙌
He said he's still not fully happy with the 4S and 3A, and that he can do even better 💪
One can argue that his scores could be higher, especially considering Morisi's (💀), but let's focus on happy thoughts for now...

#KazukiTomono 95.81(PB) Opened the press conference in English with a very bright: I am happy!

Regarding his connection to Russia and RC: It will always be special for me, as I was able to get on the podium for the first time. Last time when I was in Moscow Misha Ge showed me around and also introduced me to the Russian cuisine, and I liked it.

Kazuki will be the last to skate tomorrow, at 3:11pm local time: https://twitter.com/Tomono_Infonet/status/1464234828673388552
In the past he has struggled when he skated last, but I hope this time he will keep his concentration
Best of luck, Kazuki! You can do this! :cheer:

ETA: Thank you, @rRainbow , for your translation! I'm a bit confused about 'the 4th highest score in Japan's history' bit, do they mean domestic competitions? Because Yuzu, Shoma and Yuma have scored higher than that several times internationally.
