Kazuki Tomono

Congratulations to Kazuki on his Osaka Championships gold, and with an improved performance! It's a good thing they were able to hold at least the FS after the typhoon danger was gone.
This competition has always been FS-only! But yes, I'm also glad they were able to hold it despite the typhoon

Here's his protocol:

A bit messy in the second half, but landing a quad combo with positive GOE in competition so early in the season is HUGE! I went back and compared it with last year's event, and while last year he did better in the second half, and had slightly higher PCS, his TES and total score were higher this year.

Overall, this competition was a step in the right direction. People who were there at the venue said he seemed more confident and in shape than at Summer Cup, and he didn't seem frustrated or apologised to the audience after his performance. That's amazing considering his absolutely insane schedule, and the fact that he couldn't train these past few days because of the typhoon!

Here's a cute picture of him with his 🥇

Pictures form All Osaka:

HD Flower Holdings posted a beautiful message congratulating him on Instagram:

Tomono, congratulations on winning the All Osaka II Championship.

This is a selection bouquet from last year when Tomono appeared on the YouTube ‘Flower and Life Recipes’. I remembered this bouquet when I saw his beautiful smile of victory.

Smiling, large-flowered standard roses
Spray roses that look like they're cuddling up to you.
A touch of green, finished off with grey waxed paper and fringed ribbon - what more could you ask for?

I hope one day I can do such a project again and make flowers to match the costumes and music selection.

When I took the photos for the campaign, I realized once again that people who look good with flowers don't just bring out the flowers, they shine together with them. I hope to continue to support you so that I can see your smiles like big roses!

Those are some lovely flowers! He has a cool sponsor.
It's a pity Kazuki cannot bring those curry boxes to Europe if he gets that last pre-GP Challenger assignment, I'd happily buy it! :)
There's not enough for Japan alone, let's not hope they consider exporting...
By the way, and although we're not likely to be able to taste any, is it known if these are very spicy curries, I mean hot/lots of chili? I have long wondered if Kazuki Tomono's preferred ramen were very spicy, now I'm wondering about curry.

Can we hope for a video or is there usually no footage of the All Osaka Championships?🥺

Anyway, it's great that Kazuki has been able to improve already! His schedule has been really crazy, but maybe it's not the worst strategy to do so many competitions early on, so he can get used to his programs and gain confidence before the "real" season starts. 💪

I'd happily buy it too! He will probably bring some to Europe for his own consumption, as he said curry is his 'competition meal'. By the way, I read that Sota said in his Unlim meeting that he hopes to try some TOMONO curry when he has his assignment with Kazuki in Finland. 🤭

They said TOMONO curry is 'medium spicy', which means, not super spicy and suitable for children. However, it comes with a little sachet of extra spice so the customer can add it more and apparently if you put the whole sachet in, it gets extremely spicy lol

Sadly, no All Osaka footage 😭 Fans were allowed to film/photograph but it was not permitted to post it on social media.
I agree, his strategy seems to be working! He usually peaks later in the season but the way the Japanese team selection works now, it favours those who peak in the GP series, so he's clearly trying to adjust to that.

Meanwhile, non-no published the second part of the conversation between Kazuki, Seiya Hashimoto and Kohei Yoshino - this time, they focused on the One Piece on Ice merch, which is super cool! I LOL'd at the part when they were talking about the acrylic stands, and Kazuki was gushing over Koza's and Kohei was like: 'By the way, Kazuki, don't you have too many acrylic stands out there already?' 😂

Non-no is also publishing a Koza-centric article today!

Non-no's Koza article, so cool :love2: I was touched when they said Koza was added to this year's main visuals due to his popularity last year 🥹

On magazine-related news, FS Life will feature a conversation between Kazuki and Koshiro about Hyoen, and Quadruple Axel Team Japan fan book will feature a conversation between Kazuki and Wakaba, which is making fans very excited.

Finally, Daiichi Juken published a really interesting thread about how they did the PR for Tomono curry

TOMONOCURRY was a major project that started last year, as described in the article distribution on the story behind the product development. As the project manager and Tomono's contact person, my first thought was that the royalties paid from the cost of supervising the curry and from the sales of each curry would be used for competition activities.

Planning for the promotion of TOMONO CURRY began to be assembled in spring, when the curry was not yet completed. The implementation of the handover event was decided first after talking to Tomono. We wanted the event to be a media mix, not just a handover event. This would allow more people to learn about the products and of course about Tomono.

We thought it would be a good way for people to get to know us. We decided on FM Osaka, with whom we have had a close relationship, as the media partner. The time commitment for the FM Osaka programme recording and the event is actually only a few hours in total.

I gave Tomono a PR calendar and a proposal on his birthday and told him that I wanted to do radio and that I wanted PR to be like entertainment. I decided to make a pile of information in the form of PR for an American TV drama series based on my past experience.

This PR was only possible because Tomono is both a competitor and an artist. I am also sincerely grateful for the support of the media and everyone involved.

As an aside, the day after the bullet train stopped due to collision trouble, I was recording a programme for FM Osaka. I now have good memories of almost dying on the express bus back to Osaka for the recording.

Finally, I'll leave you for today with this amazing picture posted by non-no and the gorgeous flowers from HD Holdings. I read that Koza's acrylic stand was one of today's sold out items in the venue, which is amazing! It's widely acknowledged by now that, whilst Koza is a fairly minor role in the original work, it became a big part of the ice show version due to Kazuki's charisma and hard work 🔥

It must be so difficult to jump in such an attire! And the costume includes a wig, doesn't it? It's really impressive!
Right! Not only the wig, but tinted glasses and a heavy scarf, too! I saw some comments as well about how he does a perfect 3-3 with very little setup, it's indeed crazy!

Some updates from Kazuki himself today. First, he thanked HD Flower Holdings for the beautiful flowers:

They are indeed gorgeous and very 'him' if that makes sense!

Also, a funny exchange on Twitter: Rika Hongo tweeted 'Koza for cut the morning fruit for everyone. That's very kind of you, thank you.' to which Kazuki replied: 'Leave it with me'

Now, some more fan updates from One Pice on Ice. I gotta say, now that the shock of the 3F3T passed huiwnfefrngjwbn I get emotional seeing the finale with Koza and Vivi with the child versions of themselves riding Pell, it's so touching in the context of the story (and I've always loved these characters) 🥹
Here's the number again from different angles:

3F3T views:

Just Koza Tomono being incredibly cool:

Now, some snippets from today's finale! The main thing is that he landed a 3F3T :love2: We hadn't seen a 3-3 combo from him in aaaaages, and it looks so good!
That's because he focuses on 4-3, no? :) Glad he's having fun. When does One Piece series end again? I'm so forgetful :palmf: Then it's regionals for him, right?

This made me visualise Kazuki Tomono in full Koza attire, cutting the fruit with his (plastic?) sword in great slashes! :ROFLMAO: So cute of them both. I think fruit are expensive in Japan, so it's a treat to have some for breakfast? I'm happy that the production feeds them well!

Kazuki's 3-3 looks very solid! I don't know, if there's anything to this theory, but could it be that he maybe feels more confident about his jumps when he's in character, especially a courageous one like Koza (basically, that he gets so immersed in the character that he stops worrying, if that makes sense)?

That's super cute - a bit like a reverse Hyoen situation with Kazuki portraying the adult version of his character in this case.

Speaking of Hyoen - since 9 Hyoen-members performed in "One Piece on Ice" (plus Kenji (partly) choreographing both shows), part of the gang came to watch the show on Sunday 😊:

Yep, his combos are 4T3T, 3Aeu3S and 3F2A for a few years now. He also said that he's no good with triples and triple combos. Hence why the shock in seeing him do 3F3T now 😂

One Piece on Ice was one weekend only so it's already finished! Yes, next in his agenda is Kinki, that's three weeks from now, so hopefully it's enough for him to train and get fully into competition mode.

This actually started a funny trend among Japanese fans, who claim that Koza cut up their food as well:

You make a good point re: doing jumps in character! He also did a 3A in the Koza costume, which is equally impressive:

Some updates from yesterday:

Kazuki speaks about One Piece on Ice - the difference between his demeanour in real life and him as Koza gives me backlash jijirjgrjgrojg

Here's Koza with his army!

Now, some group pics:

Finally - cool Koza 🔥
Even though he was originally a minor character, he won the hearts and admiration of many spectators 🥹

Guys, Tsushiya Kaban gave Kazuki a custom made leather tissue case, how cool is that? 🥹 They love Kazuki so much. It's amazing as well in the context of them getting free press recently from none other than thee Shohei Ohtani. Also, they went all the way to the Summer Cup to present it in person!

Caption:
We made a special bag for figure skater Kazuki Tomono @k0515ki, who is a Tsuchiya bag customer, and presented it to him.

When we asked the craftsman who produced the bag about the particulars, he replied: ‘To give you a feeling of comfort when carrying it before and after matches and shows, the handle is also covered in leather so that it feels more comfortable in your hand every time you use it. We have also carefully applied a layer of koba on the opening for taking out the tissue so that it can be removed smoothly’.

We wish Mr Tomono continued success in his career.

Meanwhile, Kinki entries have been published! It's a tough field with Nobu, Tatsuya Tsuboi and Sena Miyake as his main competitors.

While I'm at it, more cool pictures of Koza 🔥

3A clips:

Finally, I saw a nice tweet from a One Piece fan saying: Can I hang on to Koza a bit more? (Yes!) I thought it was unfair that his face behind those sunglasses was cute even though all his photos and videos were so cool, so I watched the performance of the person inside on YouTube and I saw that he was making the audience go wild, and he was comical and powerful and had me dying with a smile, and I love how fun his choreography is, and his range is so... broad...

Glad to know more people are appreciating him 💜

A couple of IG updates from yesterday:

Today, One Piece on Ice announced they will continue to sell the most popular acrylic stands - Shoma (Luffy), Koshiro (Sanji), Marin (Vivi) and Kazuki (Koza) online: https://x.com/onepieceonice/status/1833671943247262059

I cannot stress enough how amazing it is that Kazuki is included in this group, as the only one who's not playing a major character. The way he shed a spotlight on Koza was truly amazing!
