I believe this joke was in reference to the Daiichi Juken commentary about West Side Story (also an iconic past program by Kazuki) that goes with the photo. :]

Maria is a main character in West Side Story and the other main character (Tony)'s girlfriend. Thank you Surimi, I didn't even know that he had had a West Side Story program! There's a video on Youtube but slowed down, so I don't know if I ought to watch it. This music is so heavily copyrighted!
