Kazuki Tomono

I ended up reading all of the Sauna Bros article ^ ^ I liked reading Kazuki's insights. I've got to say Kazuki looks happier in the picture than Sota - IIRC, Sota was really taken aback at the cold outside, and was quick to change back when he was finished, but Kazuki doesn't seem to mind that much. Kazuki's salmon soup looks much better than the concoction I had at my hotel. Yes, I can believe this one was tasty: meat and potatoes actually cut into small(ish) pieces, no burnt dark bread.... If I ever go to Finland again, I guess I'll avoid hotel restaurants.

Good luck to Kazuki in Kokutai! I haven't read the full entry list as the font was too small in the Twitter post. How much of a chance do Kazuki and Nobunari have of winning the whole thing?

They certainly have a chance! Their main threat will be the team with Shun Sato and Kosho Oshima. Nobu can win against Kosho, but even if Kazuki does well, they might not let him win against Shun :cautious:

We shall see...

Kazuki Tomono didn'have his best skate at the National Winter Festival Short Program, he's "only" fourth, but he's "in a pocket handkerchief" (as we say in France) with Nobunari Oda and Shunsuke Nakamura, and nearly seven points above the fifth, so I would say that it's very open for tomorrow, at least for the Silver and Bronze medals. As a team, I think that he and Nobunari Oda are strong contenders?

Having watched the skate, I realised because of the way he was scored I assumed it'd been a disaster, but quads apart it was actually a really good skate! His movements were super sharp, the spins and steps were level 3/4 and 3A was beautiful! Also, it was a fall and a step out on the quads, no URs or pops.

Yes, he fully committed to them like a determined competitor does - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The rest was great indeed! :)

Good luck in the free, Kazuki! 💪

Maria is a main character in West Side Story and the other main character (Tony)'s girlfriend. Thank you Surimi, I didn't even know that he had had a West Side Story program! There's a video on Youtube but slowed down, so I don't know if I ought to watch it. This music is so heavily copyrighted!
But here's a video of one of the songs, amidst fire escape stairs:

Oh that’s right. I forgot about that.

Thank you for sharing! I gotta say, Kazuki's description of how he and Sota were shaking whilst having to change clothes outdoors in the Finnish sauna made me laugh! Poor boys...

The Finnish Embassy in Tokyo tweeted about the article! So cute!

Meanwhile, National Winter Sports Festival entry list is out - as expected, Kazuki and Nobu will be representing Osaka 💪

Oh, dear. It must have been cold out when they went. I hope they weren’t shaking too bad.

Kazuki Tomono is about to skate in a few minutes, just after Tatsuya Tsuboi who's just entered the rink. Here's the streaming:

Another rough skate for Kazuki - this time, lots of q which is unusual for him. Still, he got his levels and a great score in the step sequence  I haven't seen the skate yet but I suspect the judges were harsh again.

In any case, I'm not super worried - Kazuki tends to do better in bigger events, so I'm hoping this will be a good stepping stone for 4CC.

They did the Glico man again at the medal ceremony:
