Usually I'm not an advocat of skaters keeping or bringing back programs, but this is one of those rare cases where I actually hope he does (I know I'm repeating myself ;)), as it would be the perfect program for the Olympic season and it would probably give him an edge as he seems so comfortable with it and it's also universally well received. :love:

Someone said that Halson is Kazuki's 'Seimei' and I agree. It's a masterpiece.
Kazuki already recycled a programme for the previous Olympic season (Cinema Paradiso) and it worked really well for him, so I'm hoping he'll do the same now with Halston :pray:

Another thing that stood out for me, the quality of his movements is looking so good and polished!

What I really felt this time was that there were a lot of Tomono-kun fans❣️When we were lining up for merchandise, there were a lot of people with red bags, and when I sat in the stands on the other side, there were a lot of people with red banner towels draped over their laps❤️I definitely want him to go to the Olympics🙏✨✨

But NGL, Halston wasn't doing much for me personally (please don't kill me), and it's a repeat, *and* on top of that, my friend says Sota is bringing back Yesterday for the *third* freakin' time... yeah, I wish I could hear new program names. At least I can still hope for Kazuki's other program to be a new one, and one that's actually neither a warhorse, nor a slow pop song in English (Sota's got two like that, so my soul's dead today, sorry, and it'll take a while before my positivity index climbs back from sub-zero digits). :shrug:

How do I find the Kassouya thread? I tried looking up the different ice shows in Japan on here to get to each forum but I can't find it.

Which short program does Kazuki like the most from what he has done? Maybe that should be the one he does again for the Olympic season especially if it works well for him.

There was/is a lot of Kassouya content on twitter and youtube. If you want to search for it you can type in 滑走屋 or 滑走屋2025 or you can search for Kazuki's name in Japanese (友野一希) and then sort by most recent content.

The reference to the young leader stems from last year's Kassouya, when Kazuki helped teaching the choreography to the younger skaters when Yuma (the choreographer of the show), Daisuke (the producer) and Yuma's choreo assistants couldn't do it all on their own, because they were so short on time. The wakagashira connotation refers to the "confrontation" scene between Daisuke and Kazuki in Hide and Seek, which kinda resembles a power struggle between a yakuza clan leader (oyabun) and his waka gashira (a yakuza member ranking beneath the oyabun and responsible for seeing that his orders are carried out correctly). (In reality Yuma said that this section of the show is inspired by chess and that the skaters represent pawns/chess pieces on a chess board though.)

North Air refers to the names Daisuke assigned to the seats. The Air seats were those in the front on ice level, where the audience could feel the wind when the skaters passed by. The North Air seats were those on ice level in the northern section of the arena, which is where Kazuki was positioned at the beginning of Into the Labyrinth. It seems that this is where the fan, who wrote the tweet, was seated, happy to see Kazuki dance this part right in front of them. I guess the rest is self-explanatory. ;)

Awww maybe Halston will win you over this time around. I was very lukewarm to his Cinema Paradiso V1 but ended up really enjoying Cinema Paradiso V2.

Although I know what you mean about repeating programmes - I think Halston will be fine because it had relatively little international exposure back in the 2023/24 season, and he never really got to perform it in a big stage like GPF, 4CC or Worlds 😢. There is a sense of 'unfinished business' with it since he got to perform it a lot in shows, but not so much in competition.

I got so excited about Halston that I forgot to post the full article:
On the 12th, male figure skater Tomono Kazuki (Daiichi Juken Group) spoke to his training base in Osaka City and revealed his intention to try last season's piano piece "Halston" again for next season's free program, with the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics coming up. "I want to make it more substantial and more competitive so that I can perform it at the Olympics," he said, aiming to be a first-time Olympic representative.

"It's a natural, comfortable program. It shows my personality," he explained. He said that former world champion Takahashi Daisuke once told him that it was "a great world view." He plans to work with choreographer Misha Ge to revise it from this month, and will do a new short program.

In the practice session that day, he landed a quadruple loop. Although he has no plans to include it in the composition, he said that "having a loop makes toe loops and salchows less difficult," and that he will work on perfecting it. The 26-year-old veteran, who has competed in the world championships three times, looked ahead to next season, saying, "I want to throw away my naivety and do it with momentum that leaves everyone else behind."

Three pieces of important info here.

First of all, Dai-chan (and I'm sure the whole Kassouya experience) had a direct influence on his decision to go back to Halston 🥹

Second, he confirmed he's getting a new SP. In one of his non-no articles, he mentioned that 'Life is Beautiful' could be turned into his Olympic season SP. This was the music chosen to be his free skate back in the 2020-21 season, but he ended up not doing it since he felt he couldn't pull it off with the skills he had at the time (plus the covid pandemic meant he couldn't work in person with Misha Ge). Then, last season he re-worked it with Misha and turned it into an exhibition, but never got to perform it 🤔 We shall see...

Third, he's landing 4lo in practice!? At age 26, almost 27!? After a hip injury!?

I don't blame the organizers! He's an amazing performer, plus he's famous and very popular. If I had an ice show, I'd do my best to have Kazuki perform there as well. :) I guess these multiple ice shows are why he has given up his other activities like Sauna Bros for the time being.
