Kazuki Tomono's new programme ‘will be his masterpiece’ Prince Ice World.
The figure skating ice show "Prince Ice World 2025-26 PIW THE MUSICAL ~The Best of BROADWAY~ Yokohama Performance" opened on the 26th at the Kose Shin-Yokohama Skate Center in Yokohama City, with male skater Tomono Kazuki (Daiichi Juken Group) appearing as a guest skater.

Tomono performed the new season's short programme (SP) song ‘That's It (I'm Crazy)’. Skating to the up-tempo bass rhythm, he landed a triple axel and other jumps, and in the latter half of his performance, he did a one-handed cartwheel to the delight of the audience. <About the new programme you performed>

I did it at the Hiraike Cup (an exhibition held in March), but this is the first time I've officially performed it (laughs).

<Please tell us about the theme>

Well, the choreographer Shae-Lynn Bourne sent me a lot of songs, and after listening to a lot of them, I was unsure about the music as I was heading towards the Olympics, but I wanted to create a program that had new elements and would have the most impact in the SP among Japanese skaters.

I wanted to make a well-balanced SP, which only I can do, which is full of my charm, which will lead to a good technical score, which will be my masterpiece.

I think the choreography is very good, and I will skate with all my heart from Prince (Ice Worlds), as well as the free skate, to make this programme my masterpiece.

This will definitely be an important season, and one that I want to put my all into. This was a season where I was able to choreograph and prepare both the short program and free program from an early stage, so I'll prepare well.

My mind is definitely focused on the next season, and for this Prince show, I want to do my best with this short program first. I often start the season a little late, so I hope that doesn't happen again.

I want to keep showing off my competitive programs in shows and keep moving my body so that I can set my sights firmly on the Grand Prix (GP) series (in the first half of the season).

<About the one-handed cartwheels he does during his performance>

Shae's choreography is like, "Can you do this?" "Can you do that?", and she creates various patterns, and before you know it, she's done it.

As she does various movements, she's like, "Can you do a cartwheel?" To be honest, I couldn't do it at all at first, and even now my legs are still not fully stretched, and they're getting quite tired in the second half of the performance, so there are parts that I find a bit scary.

But, I packed in all the moves I could do, and cartwheels were one of them. It was like, "If we can do it now, let's just include it." It was included at a pretty good point, but I need to practice the cartwheel a lot. I practice slipping and falling, and that's how it is.

But with this new movement being included, and cartwheels having never really been included (in past performances), I think it includes an element other than skating, or a slightly acrobatic element, so I hope I can do it a little more beautifully. I hope I can grow through the performance.

Daiichi Jukken Group is the gift that keeps on giving - they now announced they will distribute these postcards to those who attend the Naniwa Figure Skating Festival 🥹



Meanwhile, Kazuki was featured on NHK's coverage of the event with athletes aiming for the Milan Olympics, as the first person who volunteered to play blind football (sorry I can't say soccer lol)


This and the Daiichi Juken corporate video make me think he is soooo good with media work! It's unusual for an athlete to be so comfortable with the cameras.
