Kazuki Tomono

Deep Edge Plus paid article about Kazuki: 'Polishing his performance for Olympic debut, 27-year-old Kazuki Tomono: "I can live my youth"'

NHK Sports updates ahead of his appearance on Sunday Sports today - both he and Hiraike-sensei will appear!

A message to fans:

So, apparently the NHK Sunday Sports feature was great... there was a lot of unseen childhood footage, and Kazuki revealed he's been having Nobu help him with jumps! Considering that Nobu was able to jump quads in his late 30s, that's a great idea!

On a different note, Daiichi Juken is doing a lottery for his autographed pic!

Send that cute little boy to the Olympics! TY!

Ok guys, I got good and bad news...

Let's start with the bad: the bad fall in practice on Thursday left him with a slight injury - he said he was fine at the time but his left foot was more painful than he thought yesterday and it affected his morning training and the feeling on the axel (that's why he made that mistake).

The good news is that he said it's a minor thing and it has happened before, so hopefully it'll pass and it won't affect his training and the free skate. He landed 4T3T in the warm up yesterday and seemed OK today in practice, so that's a good sign.

Some press reports from yesterday (paid articles):

Mainichi pics from yesterday's performance and today's practice - I like the duality!

Aaaah I'm so happy and relieved for Kazuki. It was a messy skate and he lost too many points in the non-jumping elements, but manage to hold in 2nd place and won the silver medal! What a great start of the season, hopefully this will give him plenty of confidence for Nebelhorn

Thank God for IJS! Earning ISU points!

Yes, and let's not forget he was the highest placed Japanese man and the only one to medal. This is very important considering that JSF seemed to very deliberately assign the apparent contenders for the 3rd spot to this competition.

Sure, the difference in scores wasn't huge, and I'm sure he's not entirely happy with his performance today, but he seems to be in a good trajectory and slowly gaining form

Press report after the free:
Second place winner Tomono Kazuki: "I was also in the magic number 1 position..." Kinoshita Group Cup

Pictures from the medal ceremony:

Did anyone else see the full medal ceremony? When Tomoki was introduced he did a few Russian splits..then Kazuki was introduced he skated fast and did a back flip set up,,then shook his finger "No" at the audience. I saw it on Threads in the middle of the night..trying to find it..

If anyone finds a FS link which includes the Kiss n Cry..could you post it? I'd like to see Kazuki's reaction when he realizes that he has gotten the silver medal. TIA
