Thank you for the update! Several Japanese skaters were announced, all of them Nats medallists apart from Kazuki - I think it says a lot about his entertainer/fan magnet status that he doesn't need to be on the podium to land gigs like that.

Meanwhile, it seems that he really did a tour of all Daiichi Juken offices...

Kazuki is scheduled to perform in a new ice show called The MELT - Cross of Roots, alongside Daisuke Takahashi, Shizuka Arakawa, Kana Muramoto, Nobunari Oda, Keiji Tanaka, and several other artists/performers, many of them previously performed on Hyoen.

It's going to be really interesting to see what this is about, and fans were already remarking on the fact that, among the skaters announced, Kazuki is the only one who is still a competitive athlete (and also the only one who's not an Olympian) It really shows how unique his presence is in the Japanese skating scene.

Yup, and here's the picture:


He said: "I hope I can finish in a way that I'm satisfied with. I haven't been able to do anything that I'm satisfied with this season, so I hope I can relax and do what I want to do."

There was a funny episode as Sumitada Moriguchi's bag was held up for inspection... because of TOMONO curry It seems it was all OK in the end, and it's so nice to see Kazuki's merch is so popular with other skaters!

On a different note, Shuntaro Asaga posted this pic with team Osaka for the National Winter Sports Festival (he and Kazuki will be competing in seniors, the other two are juniors)

Kazuki skates at 5:18 pm local time, which is 7:18 am for me, so not too unreasonable, yay! I'll be able to watch the last group.

Congrats to Kazuki on his 4th place! I think in a competition like this, it's not a bad score at all! I have just opened the EC vs 4CC score sheets, and Kazuki would single-handedly beat all but one at EC (and in a just world, he'd have gold if he competed like this at this year's EC - noone can seriously tell me this season's winner actually deserves the same PCS that Sota and Kazuki get - sorry about the off-topic!)
And, it's also a new season best for Kazuki - well done!

In the light of Kazuki's results this year, I'm really glad he's continuing next year.

Now, what magic herbs do I need to burn to make him want to skate to Singing In The Rain next season?

I've just seen Kazuki's name machine-translated as 'Yuno Ichiki' by Twitter. I had to click back to check the kanji to learn who they were talking about, lol.

Guys, I think I reached nirvana as a Kazuki stan I honestly don't care about his placements and scores anymore I watched his gala thinking it would be nice if he could devote himself to this kind of programme instead of practising the stupid quads and spins levels...

I'm looking forward to the off-season. I hope he resumes his non-no series as well. I just want to see more of him.

In the meantime, I came across this video of him politely declining a picture with a fan because he was about to compete. The way he did it was so kind and friendly, I was so impressed. Also, the natural way he did it makes me wonder whether he's used to this type of request.

Soooooo word on the street is that Kazuki said he'll keep his SP and have a new 'fun' FS for next season. Sadly it's in an article behind paywall, but repeating his SP would be a smart choice, it's such a good programme! Also, next year's FS will be under new rules so that'll take some getting used to.

Maybe not Bow & Arrow (Medalist opening song) as it might be too cheesy (and Yuzu "skated" to it already), but the Chainsaw Man OST I think will be amazing on Kazuki. Iris Out will be perfect for a short program, or perhaps mash it with Kick Back for longer free program.

I think only Kazuki can pull off the weird, crazy and dark vibe of these songs while skating fast & energetically
