Kevin Aymoz

Best skating I've ever seen from Kevin is this season's FS. And it's about time someone gave him, what I consider, proper component scores. I'm tired of joker judges tying component scores to: "Hey buddy, how many quads did you do?"

In this free he got 93.5, it's really high and he deserves them. I hope he'll keep that level of scores at international competitions.
It's not because a few other skaters deserving 80- get 95 because they have many quads, that 93.5 isn't good.
In this program he lost points with his 3S+1Eu+3S (he had already repeated his 4T and 3A). Had he jumped a 3Lz instead of the initial 3S, he would have had +5.9 + GOE, probably about 7 more points with 1.1 in GOE. This would have put him around 198 for the Free and that's really in the top.
I hope he gets his 4S back, he's really in the same range as Misha Kolyada with very different styles but both are excellent and pleasant to watch with well deserved high components when they skate clean.

He has a beautiful lutz, I think his injury kept him from practicing it. I'm hopeful he will do 3lutz Euler 3Salchow at the Olympics.

I have loved all his programs these past 4 years, but this free is mesmerizing.

I am so happy that after all he has been through that Kévin pulled off a (mostly) clean free and showed what he is capable of.

And laid to rest any doubts about his Olympic spot, I believe:clap:
The danger was for Europeans because last time he didn't make it to the Free so French Men have only one spot.
Being in the top 10 at Worlds and Adam having skated well at Nebelhorn (IIRC) France has 2 Men spots at Olympics (but Women have none, with Maé-Bérénice injured during her Short at Worlds and Léa having bad skates at Nebelhorn, so France can't compete in the Team Event).

Kevin gets such height on his lutz that its a joy to see, but his picking technique is an injury risk.
He does the opposite of prerotation when picking (so his hip is turned out and is picking back against the rotation, then does almost no pre-rotation)
I've never seen such lutz picking technique, but it does produce a lovely jump. I can see how it could be injury risk though.

Kevin in a recent sp got a 3T invalidated after popping 4T into 3T, leading me to believe either he doesn't know the rules, or he feels the program and doesn't think about what he's doing - which makes sense, given the passion he puts into his performances.
I'm not sure if 4S in second half is sensible, but rather that then an early fall putting him off I guess.

Anyways great FS at french nationals kevin, you seem to be back on track.

Hm, he said in interview that he didn't jump lutz because of his injury.
I can do quad toe and quad Salchow, the latter was not our priority in this competition. And with the injury I have I still can't do flip and Lutz, so it's really bothering me, because I had to put 3S-Eu-3S and 2A instead and I'm losing points.
