Kid Nation--Anyone Watching???

This episode really highlighted why a kid like DK deserves a gold star. I totally empathized with his frustration over the bickering and hollering - live it every week at a management meeting. The kid is a definite leader and I'm glad Guylan was able to talk him into staying in Bonanza City. He seems to be well liked based upon the reaction to his near departure.

I was glad the council was trying to discipline Princess Taylor, but I have no idea what will work with this girl. She's just being obstinate since she gets dirty at the challenges.
Heyang, I agree. Also, besides a trip to the wood shed, I too wonder what will happen with Taylor. So young to be so snotty. I loved when one of the kids said....deal with it.

Still missing Endurance, which was probably canceled because it was too good, I thought this might be a good show.
It's not, it's just more scripted, politically correct so-called 'reality' (yeah, right) nonsense.
There might be a case for exploitation of children for furthering some twisted TV producer's agenda.
Yeah, I know, their parents signed a contract with a billion of undecipherable legalese loopholes.....

I liked Endurance too. I wondered what had happened to it.

Oh, my goodness, was anyone else bothered by that disgusting challenge last night? I could not watch it without gagging. That was not good tv to me. Yuck!

I wonder how many of those kids will never chew another gumball again!!!! It was really gross for the team leaders to have to touch everyone's saliva. It also looked like Anjay actually popped someone else's gum into his mouth to make it softer.

I'm glad they showed the kids having fun at the talent show.

and Taylor actually WORKED!!!! She was doing laundry.

Divad appears to be the newest diva.

Quite a shake up on last nights show. I think the kid who won the gold star has it together.

Those red team kids were so rude to Nathan. I was glad that Mike realized it and apologized.

I was proud of Blaine also. I think it was a good thing for him to be apart from Greg. Instead of appearing to be a follower, he is now a leader.

You never know about that Greg. He's cussing at everyone one day, hugging and comforting the next.

I agree with both of you about this week's episode.

Greg was being a big baby about Blaine moving over to the red team, whereas Blaine was totally ok.

According to TiVo and other sources, the episode to be broadcast next is very emotional.

Laurel did make a poor decision to keep her team together. The point was to even out the districts to strengthen the town. She just didn't want to take on a change or give up someone good.

Guylan didn't handle Nate's joining well. Glad Michael realized his bad attitude. I wonder how Guylan feels about his 'brother' DK competing for his seat on the council. Out of all the red team members, DK is probably the true leader.

Since it was revealed that Zach was lazy about getting up early and then Blaine directing the others on their tasks, I wasn't surprised when Blaine went against Zach.

It appears as though we are going to have a totally new town council. Where are they at now - I'm thinking around day 27 or so?

I just realized that the 4 people who are trying to become new town council members are all gold star winners - DK, Greg, Michael and Blaine. Greg's the only one who seems somewhat abrasive compared to the others.

The latest episode seemed pretty disjointed. I'm guessing that there was too much going on ....

I'm guessing they gave Laurel the gold star because of what she had done on the council before. There really was no one outstanding this week.

Thought it was funny how Guylan abdicated from the council. All council members now understand how difficult it is to lead - it's got to make some of them think twice about aspiring to be President of the US. Being a good government leader is a thankless job.

Also enjoyed that Blaine and DK were willing to try to tell Greg that he can be disrespectful in his tone, etc. I'm sure it was partly because the town was so riled up, but they could have just sat back, too.

Although Taylor deserves to be punished, I'm glad the boys realized that denying her the reward would have been too harsh this time.

Does Taylor take a trip to the wood shed tonight???

Taylor finally worked. She did a boat load of dishes.

I wonder if Taylor is watching this show and what she thinks of her behavior. I hope her parents are mortified! She needs a good spanking. Such a shame.

I wonder why Zach didn't speak to Taylor the same way when he was on council. She probably would have been too bitter from losing to listen.

I am proud of the boys for sticking to their guns and denying Taylor the reward. She was finally forced to work for something.

I could understand how the town would go crazy in the arcade. They've had nothing for all these days and suddenly this huge fun stuff comes into town.

I wonder what kind of rules Sheriff Sophia will set up. Technically, the upperclass should be able to go in whenever they want. Merchants should be allowed only when their stores aren't open. Working class and laborers only allowed when all tasks are done.

Honestly, I can't understand why some of the older kids don't realize that by pitching in together, they'll get things done a lot faster.

I wasn't totally paying attention last night, but I think paid attention during the relevant parts.

I'm not sure if I agree with the council's selection fo Alex for the gold start. The kid is cute and smart. Zach (former council member) - I don't think whining about working hard earns a gold star. The gold star winners are the ones who do more than expected, but only because it's the least they expect of themselves. So, did they go with the person that most of the townspeople suggested?

I'm glad Sophia chose the hot air balloon rides. Realistically, how many people would have actually visited the monument. Why not choose what could be another once in a lifetime experience for everyone? I've been in a hot air balloon ride and it is fabulous. It's so gentle and beautiful. LOL - my college roommate went with me and she's scared of heights. We went for my 40th birthday. Anyway, a couple of months ago, there was a story about a hot air balloon that went up in flames while taking off. I sent her link with a comment that she would have let me go by myself if it had happened before our ride.

I'm glad they padlocked the arcade too.

Heyang, the week before this one, I didn't get to see. I did see some of the previews and saw Native Americans dancing. What was that about? I had a meeting in the evening so I set the recorder up but Kid Nation wasn't on due to the devasting tragedy in Omaha that shocked our whole city. The newscast took over.

I am hoping they have this on again, I enjoyed it.

If you have high speed internet, you can watch episodes from cBS's website.

In the week prior, the journal said that Bonanza City failed because they failed to look outside Bonanza and learn from the experiences of others who had been in the area. The 4 councilmen decided to leave to explore and left Sheriff Sophia in charge.

The other kids were upset. However, Sophia was very fair. She said the arcade would be re-opened when all the work was done. She wandered around town and pointed things out. Everyone pitched in and she opened the arcade.

Taylor tried to suck up by pointing out to Sophia that the boys have overlooked how much she has changed. Sophia said she had worked hard the last couple of weeks and she would mention it.

A lot of the kids were campaigning for the 2nd to last gold star.

During the reward challenge, they had to take apart a house and move it to a new site, put it back together and then get the chickens and another creature. Green won. Blue was next, then red and then yellow. They were all proud that they had been able to do it without their leaders - especially yellow since they are the youngest.

The reward choice was hot air balloon rides for all or a commemorative stone to leave behind in Bonanza.

The council met with the Native Americans and spent a night with them. The NA's gave the council ideas on how to lead by example and respect, etc.

When the council returned, they asked everyone for a gold star nomination. Alex, Jared, Migle (her name was something like that) were noted. Jared nominated himself after walking in with his ski hat pulled down over his face. Zach also nominated himself and got upset when Greg laughed at him. Zach left in tears and ranted about no respect. DK called Greg out on laughing at Zach. Zach stormed back in blubbered about the lack of respect. Eventually, Greg apologized and said that Zach is respected.

DK and the others decided to listen to the advice of the NA's and awarded the star to someone who was young and who had demonstrated the possibility of changing the world for the better in the future. Alex was the gold star winner because he is a brainiac, sweet and worked hard and (I think) not as weird as jared.

As for the final episode, I think I understood and agree with the council's choices for the 3 50K star winners.

When the task was to clean up the town, I was guessing that the parents would show up. The reactions to the lack of amenities was pretty amusing. I really wish they would do a reunion show to see how the kids felt about what was shown on TV and if the parents felt that their kids had changed for the better . I really want to know how Taylor's family felt about her behavior, too.

I saw a clip on another channel of that beauty queen Taylor saying that ugly animals should be killed for being ugly. Nice kid.
