Kimmie????

I found it's funny that you guys are predicting Ando will be landing on the podium. On what basis? Do you know if she's had great practice in 3+3? All i heard was that she's been falling on that elusive 4S. Nobody knows if the rotations are there. I really hope she won't put it in. It's going to be a disaster if she falls and then 4s downgraded to 3S.

I really believe medal is out of reach for her at the moment.

Yes, Ando seems to have no problem with 3-3.
4S is kind of a benchmark for her jumps in general.

Courageous of her to try, though...wait a minute, is she even going to attempt it in her FP?

Wanting her to win is asking too much. I think if she got either bronze or silver, both of those would be a major accomplishment! Remember, she wouldn't have beaten Asada + Kim last year if they were at Worlds, so if she loses to them this year, it doesn't mean that her skating has gotten any worse!

The question about Kimmie this year is whether her programs this year will be technically and artistically better than the last's. Hopefully, yes. If that turns out to be true, I'll be very hapy for her.

I definitely believe Kimmie is still a very strong medal contender, if not the gold. She's been underestimated by many folks. Her situation is a bit like Pang & Tong's:. Nobody took Pang & Tong seriously, most people did not even think they would medal. In the end, they are the only pair who did two mistake-free programs and won the silver.

Never underestimate Kimmie.

Ando and Morozov say just "planning 4S in FP", anyway the final decision will be made in tomorrow morning.

If Ando is smart she won't go for it

and

as for Meissner yes she's a strong medal contender but face it, she has to count on Asada and Kim to make mistakes to put herself to skate WELL and get a good position to win. Last year she just got freaky lucky with Cohen and Suguri messing up big. (had either of them skated to their potential Meissner wouldn't have won). This year she needs Asada, Ando and Kim to do the same. I just don't know if luck hits twice...plus, remember it's harder to defend a title as the favorite than it is to sneak in for the win.

Maybe winning in 2006 was not the best thing that could have happened to her in the long run? but we're getting ahead of ourselves here...let's see how she does.

Gold medal is perhaps out of reach, but silver or bronze is strong possiblity for Kimmie.

I've seen videos of her practicing 4S with complete rotations at this event. She's landed many of them and apparently a tech controller looked at one in slow-motion and said it counted.

I hope she goes for it. Not only to add excitement to the competition but for herself - she NEEDS this jump to be looked to as a serious Gold-medal contender.

I love her competitive spirit... and the fire in her skating this season. GO, MIKI!!!

Oops, forgot - it's a Kimmie thread. Good luck, Kimmie! Give it all you've got!

But the truth is she is NOT a serious gold medal contender. In my eyes, the only serious gold medal contender is Chairman Mao!

The other ladies such as Miki, Kim, Caro and Kimmie should shoot for silver and bronze.

You guys appear to be "setting Kimmie up" for a negative post-Worlds comment no matter how well she does. If she wins, it'll be "because Mao and Kim didn't skate to their potential" or "because Mao and Kim both had an off day". Sooner or later you have to come around to the idea that to varying degrees, "off days" are the norm and "skating to potential" is the exception. The more consistently one skates to potential or close to it, the more often one will be close to a win or actually winning. The notion that Kimmie at her best can't beat Mao or Kim at theirs is premature at this point - as you say, let's see what happens.

I disagree with you. Mao and Kim belong to completely different leagues.
Meissner can beat Kim if she skates well (like at Skate America).
However she can't beat Mao by any means without at least 2 mistakes from Mao.

Well, I'd thnk that a quad sal beats a triple axel.. In my eyes, and in the judges...So yes Miki's a serious contendor...

Miki has a VERY good chance of winning this competition after Mao's stumble in the Short. Yu-Na is more vulnerable in the Long Program because of her lesser technical content.

Whispering so as not to tempt the Skate Gods, Kwanford and I are co-hosting a party for Miki in Le Cafe if she wins.

Hey, I saw that...KWANFORD AND SS ARE HOLDING A PARTY FOR MIKI IN LE CAFE IN CASE SHE WINS!!!!!!!! :p :p

I think Julia Sebestyen will win this all--with Arina Martinova getting the silver and Mira Leung grabbing the bronze!
