Ah, this is where he shows his phone to the camera and tells the interviewers he sent Tatsuki Machida a text to congratulate him for his Skate America win and got a reply from him, returning the compliments for Koshiro. He's very proud of the fact that they sometimes text each other.

Thank you for starting the thread, malo42. First you started Tatsuki's, and now Koshiro's. I think this deserves a cute pic of both and another one with Mai Mihara and Kaori Sakamoto. :)

It made me very happy to see that Koshiro is a Machida fan and it made me like him even more! I hope in the future maybe Tatsuki can choreograph a program for him.

He's a really great little performer and his FS this season shows that. I hope in the coming seasons he gets programs that showcase his performance ability. I also hope he improves his flip... I think I've mentioned it before but I'm more concerned about that than I am a 3A for him right now since he's still so young.

Can't he go to JW??? I read that somewhere I think.
If it is true, it will be soooo disappointing :(
Unfortunately he wasnt selected for JW but at least we will see him at YOG!
And thanks for starting the thread, i wanted to but couldnt be sure  he is the best thing during this year's JGP for me and one of the highlights of the season  he is so awesome and cute, and seems like have great guide like Tatsuki beside him ;)

I must admit that Koshiro passed under my radar until I read a comment about how this 14 year old feels "Tosca" deep in his soul. A 14 year old ?! So I checked his SP at the last JN, and so it was. And now I learned he is a Tatsuki fanboy so ...

I found him naturally expressive and long-limbed which augur well for his presentation scores. Hope he will be guided well as to the development of his jumps. Go Koshiro!

Oh what a precious video! Thanks for the link matmuh. Koshiro skates with his heart on his sleeve which adds to the emotional impact of his performance. And I too was touched by his tears at the K & C.

Incidentally you are becoming one of my bellwethers as to who among the juniors to watch out for. :agree:

really?: i will do my best! juniors are so precious, after watching Koshiro's LP yesteday i realized it again, amount of pressure they are under at such young age and handling it is amazing, most kids just wants to go out and play with friends, thats why i respect youngsters a lot! :clapper:
on another note, Koshiro was at NYOI show today and seems like he was trying to be "sexy", i am so curious how it was

I agree. I wish all of them well. Even if they don't make the breakthrough in senior competition, I hope the discipline they have imbibed from FS will help them in their life endeavors and enterprises.

Like you I am curious (very) to see how Koshiro fared in trying (the operative word I am sure) to be sexy.

Yes! I haven't seen this before, thank you!

Isn't he adorable! It seems like the flip is his nemesis jump, so he shouldn't mess up the short as much next season.

It so is. Next season should be better but I'd also like to see him conquer the flip!

New article on Koshiro and my attempt at translating it.
http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASJ245K4WJ24UTQP019.html

Koshiro Shimada longing for the power of expressiveness of Takahashi and Machida

I want to become expressive. "When the camera focuses on me I'm not standing upright and I get self conscious". The generation of juniors can bring comfortable skating and rich expressiveness. It all started in his home town with his mother, at the age of 6. They went to the skating rink of Matsuyama city. "Although I had practiced sports before, the rink gave me a feeling of curiosity." He was completely absorbed into skating and having fun. He then moved with his mother to Okayama. He chose Okayama because it was the place where Daisuke Takahashi and Tatsuki Machida were brought up: "I was longing for their fascinating performances". Even now, he is still watching videos of Takahashi winning the bronze medal at the Vancouver Olympics.

This season he has matured and achieved a carefree skating style. He has even challenged the triple axel. He was second at the High School National Championships in February. At the rink were Sena Miyake and many other rivals. In the past year, he has grown 10 centimeters. He is still growing. His voice has also started to change. He is still 14 years old and will further improve.

Koshiro’s interview in Quadruple 2016+Plus, translated by always awesome ohlovesosweet, i missed his cute face :luv17: hopefully we will see his ice show performances this summer

I wonder how bad his injury was and where he injured himself. I had very little knowledge about novice skaters at the time but I did notice that I didn't hear his name for most of the season in 2014-2015. I'm glad he's okay now :) And I didn't know he's had Tosca for 3 seasons

I hope Koshiro does well at the JGP selection meet in June. My understanding is that the TJ men couldn't secure many spots at JGP for next season so it's going to be tough on all of the junior boys.
