I thought I'd watch the Kylile Minogue concert on direct TV the other night just to hear her song "Can't get you out of my head"
(that's the only song I knew of hers and I didn't really know who she was)but I ended up falling in love with ALL the songs she sang! It was a great concert and she sounds great live. I went from not really knowing who she was to being a HUGE Kylie fan!!!!!!!! I just bought three of her CD's. It was a one time concert in London to promote her new CD "Body Language" She's like the "Madonna" of Europe. I hope she gets more airplay here in the US because, they're only playing one song of hers right now and we're really missing out on some great pop music. I like her much better than the pop-artists we have here.

Lol. Kylie isn't actually from Europe, she's Australian. She's been famous since the 80s, but I think this is the first time she's tried to crack America, so I think that's why you lot are only just finding out who she is.

She started out as an actress in Neighbours, an Australian soap opera (I don't know if it's shown in the US or not, but it's very popular in the UK and has been since maybe the beginning). After she left that (some time in the 80s, I think), she started a pop career, largely in the UK I believe, and got several (?) number 1 singles, including "I Should Be So Lucky" and a cover version of "The Locomotion". IIRC, she released some more singles in the early 90s, and then wasn't that much in the public eye again until the later 90s, when she kind of exploded onto the scene again, with the single "Spinning Around" and album "Fever". She's been huge again ever since.

Did you buy "Body Language"? What did you think? I haven't got it myself, but the two singles she's released from it so far are Slow (got to no. 1) and Red Blooded Woman, her new single that I think got to no. 5.

I loved Kylie when I was little, in the 80s :)

I know she's Austrailian, I just meant she's big in Europe too. I bought Body Language, Fever and Light Years. I like Body Language the most.:) :)

Yes, I LOVE Kylie! To look like that at her age!? WOW! lol...Body Language is very good.. I like 80% of the tracks.. Of course Slow and Chocolate are my favs.. Kylie is a lot closer to being a "Madonna" to music then Britney will ever be! lol ....Peace

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if she's almost 40, she is mine , do you hear me, mine! :p

IIRC, she's been cranking out hits in the UK and continental Europe through the '90s. The only reason she hasn't made a "comeback" before now is because our recording industry is so overly-nationalistic :sheesh:. The only problem was "CGYOOMH" was such a big worldwide smash, they couldn't ignore it if they tried.

Her music's good, too; not the stuff I listen to on a regular basis, but it's really sexy stuff for the dance club (hehe, LOL)

did you ever see the lingerie comercial she did? woooeeee i don't know if it actually aired anywheres..its way to racy.

The locomotion cover was a hugh hit in the US.

Kylie is mainly a dance chart singer. With Madonna, Paula, Janet, Britney,etc... well shameless nationalism isn't quite true. It's like saying "Everyone in the US is so stuck on Kwan, Hughes, Lipinski...it's just shamless nationalism. Joanne Carter is amazing!".

"At her age"?
"almost 40"?

She's only 35!! Being 36 myself, I kind of resent the implication that she's practically an old bat!! :D :D :D

Haven't bought her new CD, but loved "Fever" (the last one). She actually used to kind of bug me, but now I like her. Amazing what some good songs will do....

Never has someone with so little vocal talent been so successful. Oh, wait! I forgot about Paula Abdul! They belong in that category of singer who needs to be drowned out by the music to disguise the fact that they really can't sing. Both do, however, know how to strut--apparently that helps album/CD sales.

I have been a huge fan of Kylie for a long time now. I went to see her concert in Copenhagen last year and it was so great! :D

She is realy beautiful and her songs are great (most of the time)

I Tivo'd the Direct TV concert mainly for my husband. Sorry, can't jump on the band wagon here, after the 1st 3 songs we were fast forwarding through the rest to see if anything was good/sounded different. Nope. Perhaps in the dance clubs her music is fun to dance to. I don't dislike her music but it does nothing for me. Glad you all are getting something out of it!
